My heart banged heavily against my chest as I ran deeply into the woods, looking for a perfect hide out since there was no way to outrun the entire pack. I continued to run with no shed or anywhere I could hide in sight, until I suddenly felt a strange coldness and an unusual shortness of breath. My feet slowed down on their own to a stop while my head darted from one corner of the darkness to another in fear.
This was no ordinary coldness, I told myself, and when that only made me scared the more, I retracted my statement, and instead tried without success to convince myself that it was ordinary. Again, I felt the urge to cry but bit down the sob just as I heard rustling sounds from a distance.
The rustling sound stopped as abruptly as it started but that did not stop me from looking around the place fearfully once more. It was dark and I could only make out the trees, I mean what else would surround a forest, and be so tall?
