Chapter 12 - 12

Zhang Ye had the delivery guy send a hundred giant water barrels to the warehouse.

Then he placed them into his spatial dimension and brought them back home.

Once home, Zhang Ye began turning on every faucet in the house, filling the barrels with water.

At this rate, it would take no more than a week to fill all one hundred barrels.

Day by day, time passed.

Zhang Ye didn't waste a single day.

He spent every penny he had without hesitation.

Every day, he dined at the best restaurants.

Then he bought large quantities of meals from these top-tier establishments, storing them in his spatial dimension.

During this period, he also visited the shooting range in Tianhai City every day, practicing with bows, crossbows, and firearms, constantly improving his skills.

It was unrealistic to become a martial arts master in just one month.

But with a crossbow, firearms, and a super-safe, full-metal shelter, he wouldn't fear any danger that might come.

Naturally, his actions didn't go unnoticed.

But everyone around him treated Zhang Ye like a joke.

They thought he had gone crazy and laughed at him behind his back.

Even Fang Yuqing deliberately distanced herself from him, unwilling to engage in any conversation.

And so, the days kept passing.

Soon, more than twenty days had gone by—the apocalypse was drawing near.

Zhang Ye had already amassed a vast amount of supplies, including food, weapons, and heating equipment.

Still, it wasn't enough to make him feel safe.

He decided to target the massive warehouse owned by Walmart.

Once he secured that warehouse, he would have enough supplies to last ten lifetimes!

He didn't plan to act on the final day because he remembered something—during his previous life, he vaguely learned that the authorities had received early warning about the incoming gamma rays.

So they had already begun secretly stockpiling supplies before the public caught on.

Zhang Ye didn't dare to gamble. He had to move early.

And following that logic, even if the entire Walmart warehouse's inventory vanished, the authorities—preoccupied with evacuation—wouldn't have the time to investigate thoroughly.

This gave Zhang Ye a perfect buffer period.

So he returned to the warehouse and resumed work as usual.

Walmart's warehouse operated 24/7, but during the night shift, there were only ten people on duty.

Zhang Ye decided to use the most straightforward and brutal method—he added sleeping pills to the tea they drank.

After all, with only three days until doomsday, he wasn't worried about being found out.

Since these were old acquaintances, it was easy for Zhang Ye to pull off the plan.

Once the sleeping pills took effect and everyone fell into a deep sleep, Zhang Ye went to the security room and shut down the entire warehouse's surveillance system.

He knew this place like the back of his hand—he could navigate it with his eyes closed. Plus, he had gone over the plan countless times in his mind, so his execution was quick and clean.

Afterward, he put on gloves and a pair of shoes two sizes too large, then quickly entered the warehouse.

Staring at the massive warehouse before him, Zhang Ye took a deep breath and began collecting supplies.

As long as his right eye swept over a shelf and he willed it, the entire shelf would instantly appear in his spatial dimension.

He started with the beverage section.

It stored tens of thousands of tons of bottled water, drinks, and alcoholic beverages, including premium wines and liquors.

Zhang Ye didn't bother sorting them—all of it went straight into his spatial warehouse.

Soon, thousands of cubic meters worth of drinks had vanished.

Next up was the fuel section for household goods.

There were countless boxes of smokeless coal and barrels of gasoline and alcohol.

These were household-grade, meant for emergency storage or travel.

Just the smokeless coal alone totaled over ten thousand boxes—not to mention the solid alcohol and gasoline drums.

Zhang Ye could use all this for hundreds of years!

He never considered leaving anything behind for others. In his mind, once the apocalypse hit, none of it would end up in the hands of ordinary citizens anyway.

So without hesitation, he collected everything.

Then, using his professional knowledge from years of working in warehousing, he neatly organized the items into designated zones within his spatial space—for easier access later.

Third, he moved on to the food section.

This area was even larger—holding tens of thousands of tons of food. Several warehouses were packed to the brim, looking like small mountains.

Canned goods, pre-packaged roast chicken and duck, snacks, instant meals, luxury treats…

"Enough to feed me for ten lifetimes!" Zhang Ye exclaimed.

He wasn't picky. He took whatever he saw.

After clearing out the food, Zhang Ye moved to the sports equipment section.

Exercise gear was also essential for his shelter.

Regular training would keep him fit and healthy—critical for survival.

While his safehouse space was limited, his spatial dimension was infinite. If he could take it, he would.

There were some particularly useful items—like baseball bats and fencing gear—which could double as weapons.

During the process, Zhang Ye discovered even more useful items.

For instance, skiing and mountaineering equipment, including top-tier thermal clothing designed for national athletes.

These suits could withstand temperatures as low as minus 100 degrees Celsius! They were cutting-edge tech from 2050.

Zhang Ye's eyes lit up. These would be the ultimate cold-weather gear once the ice age hit!

Without hesitation, he collected all several dozen sets of elite thermal suits and sleeping bags from the warehouse.

After two full hours, Zhang Ye had completely emptied the Walmart warehouse spanning over a million square meters—all by himself!

Looking at the now vast and empty warehouse, Zhang Ye felt a deep sense of satisfaction.

Now, even if the world entered a freezing ice age, he had full confidence he could live comfortably.

He returned to his station, took off the gloves and oversized shoes, and stored them in his spatial dimension.

Then he drank some of the tea laced with sleeping pills and lay down on the desk, falling into a deep sleep.

He didn't know how long he had slept before being shaken awake urgently.

"Supervisor, Supervisor! Something big happened—wake up!"

Zhang Ye slowly opened his eyes, gazing blankly at the coworkers in front of him.

"What happened?"

One warehouse employee pointed at the warehouse, trembling, and said, "It's insane! The whole warehouse... it's been emptied!"

"What?!" Zhang Ye slammed the desk and stood up in shock.

He rushed to the warehouse, putting on a show of disbelief, and of course, saw the completely empty scene.

Deep down, he knew better than anyone what had happened.

Still, he staggered, feigning weakness, and asked with a trembling voice, "What happened here? How did everything disappear?!"

His coworkers also looked pale with anxiety.

"Yeah, the goods in this warehouse were worth at least ten billion! Even with large trucks, it'd take several days to haul it all out. How could it vanish in the blink of an eye?"

No one mentioned that they had all been asleep earlier.

After all, it was common for night-shift workers to sneak in a nap.

Zhang Ye paced back and forth with a serious expression, pretending to be anxious.

Then he said, "This is too bizarre—we can't handle this. We'd better call higher management."

Everyone was nervous, but not overly scared.

In fact, the bigger the mess, the less likely they'd be blamed.

There was no way a group of low-paid workers could have pulled off such a massive heist in just two hours.

They were earning just a few thousand yuan a month—no one was going to risk their lives for a corporation.

So, after hearing Zhang Ye's suggestion, they all nodded in agreement.

Let the higher-ups deal with this mess!

Zhang Ye immediately called the warehouse manager to report the situation.

The manager was stunned, frozen in fear on the other end of the line, thinking at first that Zhang Ye was playing a prank on him.
