Chapter 39 - Just when it was going good

He didn't say a word.

He didn't need to. His actions were loud enough.

Then, without a word, Kael leaned forward and planted a soft, tender kiss on Nyx's knee.

She inhaled sharply, caught off guard—not by the boldness, but by the tenderness in the act. It wasn't rushed. It wasn't playful. It was measured.

Kael lingered there for a heartbeat, then began moving upwards.

His lips moved with him, leaving a trail of hot kisses on her thigh with an aching slowness that sent shivers up Nyx's spine.

Each kiss was hotter than the last, his breath brushing her skin just before his mouth made contact. He wasn't just kissing her—he was exploring, worshipping, letting her feel every ounce of the hunger and tension coiled inside him.

Nyx's body responded in kind. Her fingers curled into the sheets beneath her, her smirk fading into parted lips and heavy breathing. The playful spark in her eyes dulled, replaced by a flicker of something deeper—desire.

Kael didn't rush.

He moved like he had all the time in the world. The room seemed to shrink around them, the air thick with charged silence.

Nyx bit her lip, the usual teasing words stuck somewhere in her throat.

And Kael, still wordless, looked up briefly—just enough to meet her gaze—and then continued, kissing higher still.

His breath grew heavier with each inch upward, the closeness between them making his skin tingle. Nyx's thighs were thick, warm, and impossibly soft—his fingers trembled slightly just resting on them.

The heat rising from her skin wasn't just physical—it carried something deeper, something magnetic, pulling him in.

But just as Kael's hands were about to move higher, a knock rang out—sharp and sudden.

Thump, thump.

He jolted straight up like he had been caught stealing something valuable. His heart pounded like a war drum, the heat of the moment instantly clashing with newfound panic.

Nyx chuckled softly beside him, stretching lazily like nothing had happened.

"Sad," she whispered with a teasing pout. "Right when it was getting good. Such... disturbance."

Kael stumbled back a step, eyes wide, chest still heaving. His thoughts were a mess—half of him still burning from what just happened, the other half scrambling to remember where he even was.

I really did that, he thought.

Just hours ago, he was just a virgin from the Earth—someone who barely made eye contact, let alone touched a woman like that. And now? He was on the verge of going all the way with a literal goddess of lust. His pride swelled in his chest.

I almost did it… with her.

He stared at the door, a ridiculous grin tugging at his lips.

Yeah, this world was definitely better.

Calming himself with a few deep breaths, Kael walked over and opened the door. Standing there was Alaric, his eyes immediately widening as he looked past Kael and saw the massive gaping hole in the wall.

"…What happened?" Alaric asked, his voice calm but laced with concern.

Kael rubbed the back of his neck. "Umm… I was just practicing my new swordsmanship, and, well… this happened."

There was a brief moment of stunned silence. Then the shocked edge in Alaric's face melted into something else—pride and unmistakable joy. His mouth curled into a grin before he let out a booming laugh that filled the room.

"Hah! That's my son!" he said, stepping into the room.

He eyed the shattered chunks of wood, the cracked stone, and the lingering energy in the air. "You say this was just from practice?"

Kael nodded. "Yeah, I—I discovered something. I think I have made a technique where I can release all of the mana in my core at once. Like a last-ditch, explosive surge. It was desperate, but… powerful."

Alaric ran his fingers along the fractured edge of the hole, then turned to Kael.

"This… this is the kind of energy only peak elite swordsmen can bring out in moments of life and death. And you're telling me—you're just in the stabilization stage?"

Kael nodded again, more confidently this time. "That's right. It's risky, but in the right moment, it could turn everything around."

Alaric studied him for a moment longer, then smiled. "You know what, Kael? I'm not even shocked anymore. You've been full of surprises lately. Hell—go sleep in Lisa's room for today; I'll get this mess fixed tomorrow."
