Chapter 5 - The End - 2

"You did very well, little one. Leave the rest to me."

Rudra looked at the kind-looking lady who looked really familiar, holding him in her arms. She did not seem very tall, only like 5'10 " in height, with silky black hair cascading down her back. But her eyes betrayed her. Her eyes seemed to hold the vastest power in the world, nd they were blazing with fury. But strangely, Rudra did not feel any kind of fear after seeing her eyes; if anything, he felt boundless relief.

"Y-Y-YOU, why are YOU here?! You were supposed to be on the other side of the world. We made sure of that!!!!!" A terrified scream rang out in the back, as Rudra looked on and saw a sight he did not think was possible. Standing there was the man he hated so much, the man who tormented him now with both his arms missing. He had this look of horror on his face, like he had just seen a ghost or something far scarier.

That's when Rudra's eyes widened in realisation, and he finally remembered where he had seen her. His eyes finally started watering, and he started laughing loudly while tears started falling down his face. He was laughing and hiccupping so hard that his body started spasming, but he was not able to hold back his tears. How could he not, for he knew he could rest now and everything would be okay.

"It's okay now, I am here. No one will harm you any longer." The lady gently caressed his head with her hands, which seemed to work like magic and calmed him down.

At that moment, the demon lunged at the woman's back. The earth itself fractured beneath his movements, leaving a big crater in his wake. He seemed desperate, willing to do anything. He pulled all the power and dark aura in his body, which started to radiate out of his body and reached sky-high and looked real menacing.

It was at this moment the woman turned her head and took a brief glance at him before muttering, "Stop and lie down. I will deal with you later." The sky, the earth and the whole world started boiling at her words, as if they were catering to her words.

Before he knew it, the man found himself pinned to the ground, losing all control of his body. All the bones in his body shattered with the impact, and he found himself unable to move, not even an eyelid. He was the strongest person here, but he felt like a mere insect before her.

It was around this time that Rudra recovered, and he took a look at her again. "You are Lady Siva, right? Why are you so late? Why did you not come sooner? You are supposed to protect us all, so why did you not come earlier to protect me? Why did you not protect my parents? Please, tell me WHY!!!!"

Looking at the half-crying and half-shouting child in her hands, the lady did not say anything, only gently caressing his head. After a while, she spoke. "I am really sorry, child. It is my fault that I neglected the situation for so long. This will not happen again. I can promise you that much. Go to rest now. When you wake up, everything will be much better." It was like her words held some sort of magnetic charm, and he started to feel faint and sleepy.

But somewhere inside him, there was a voice shouting at him, that he could not fall asleep. He was forgetting something really important. Something more important than his own life. Just as the sleep was about to claim him, he remembered. The most important thing.

"MY SISTER!!!! Take my sister away and protect her. You can throw me away or discard me, but please, take my sister away and protect her. We have no one else!!!" And with the last sentence, Rudra was out like a light.

"The attack which happened on the city of Duskvale is considered to be the biggest attack on humans in the last 500 years. According to the sources, by the time reinforcement arrived, the whole city had been devastated, and they only found 34 survivors in total. Next, we are going to show you some images of the devastated landscape of the city of Duskvale, or what's left of it."

Rudra stood alone in front of the shop, which had the TV playing the news. It had been 3 weeks since the attack on his city happened. A lot had happened since then, but most of it seemed to pass by in a blur to him.

When he woke up for a brief moment, he found himself surrounded by people in what seemed like a hospital room. When he woke up the next time, his guess had been quickly confirmed that he was in a hospital. But he did not get to stay for long. As soon as he woke up, he got kicked out of there, and they took him to a new home. He had arrived in a different city.

He tried asking about his sister to the people but nobody answered him. He even searched everywhere, asked around a lot, but nobody seemed to provide him with an answer, and it was as if she had vanished from the planet. He took solace in the fact that he told Lady Siva about his sister, and maybe she took her away to somewhere better. That's how he consoled himself anyway.

He looked at the skyline and realised that the sun had started to set. The twin moons were already peeking through the horizon. He put his left hand in his pocket and pulled the last thing he had that remained from his parents. There was an antique dive watch sitting in his hands with a blue bezel, and the second hand was slowly sweeping away. It was already past 7:30 PM, and if he did not reach his new place before 8:00 PM, he would not be able to get any dinner.

With that in mind, he started moving towards his new home as fast as he could, his left leg limping and falling behind his right one as he took one step after another towards the new home: An orphanage.
