This was the last thing victor heard before waking up. This was the 10th time this month he had had such a dream, at this point victor doesn't think much of the dream.
When he first had the dream, he went to the teachers, hoping it would be the spark that would awaken an original ability for him.
The abilities are divided into two. Regardless of their rank, some abilities are free to learn; that does not mean it is without a price; those in power would always do things to make personal profit.
While there are original abilities, they are the ones that awaken on their own without the need for a teacher or an ability book. These are usually more potent and suited for the owner of the ability, although all abilities were once original.
The difference is that some people shared their ability, hoping it would aid humans against the beast's attack.

Victor left home in silence, hood pulled low against the ashen sky. The streets were mostly empty. A hushed tension always lingered in the city now, as if people were waiting for the next catastrophe to fall from the heavens.
As he passed through the city square he realised something strange, he felt like he could see everything and I mean everything. To him, everything was frozen in place all except him
As victor began celebrating because he had finally awakened an ability, he immediately felt the excruciating pain, it felt like he was on fire he couldn't ask for help because even up till now the world was frozen.
After a minute of the blood-curling pain, he was beginning to feel at ease; as he opened his eyes, he saw a strange marking on his hand; it looked like a crest, a symbol of teeth with fangs and lightning drawn across it. Then the mark slowly faded.
The world was coming back to normal, people moved birds flew and the air finally made a sound as it whistled through his ears
Victor staggered back still holding his hand, the pain was gone, but it had left behind an echo, a pain so vivid he would not forget it.
What... Was that?.? he whispered while holding on to the hand that had the mark. The mark had faded, but he could still feel the skin pulsing like there was a phantom limb.
Then he came to the realisation that this might indeed be the spark he had been waiting for, so he hurried to school with the hopes that this time he had an ability.
Victor held his hand as he rushed through the school gate, heart pounding as a mixture of fear, hope and excitement overwhelmed him. Maybe just maybe.
He thought to himself, I wouldn't have to be invisible again, I wouldn't have to be bullied again, maybe Samuel would finally shut up.
Getting to school, the bell had already been rung, and classes were in full swing; he entered the classroom slowly, trying to be quiet, but the teacher, clearly seeing him, paid no attention to him. Victor made his way to his seat, not wanting to disrupt the class just in case it wasn't an ability.
The class dragged. Minutes felt like hours.
Every second, he wondered.
Was it real?
Would it happen again?
Was he still invisible…
In the middle of his thoughts, something strange happened, a sudden sound tour through the silence, a shriek that no human throat was capable of.
Windows cracked. The sky darkened. A low hum pulsed through the walls, like a heartbeat coming from deep underground.
The ward securing the perimeter failed.
Screams followed.
The students rushed to the hallways, the teachers gave orders, and everyone prepared for the confrontation; they created a desperate defence line of awakens with barrier and kinetic wall ability.
Victor stood at the door, heart pounding.
It was a creature, not as large as a leviathan, but faster its skin like obsidian with veins of pulsing red. Six arms. Too many eyes. And it moved like hunger was made into flesh.
As it got into view, the students started a barrage of attacks; the attacks did no damage. They were too weak.
The teacher, noticing this, told the students to go to the bunker so that the beast would not be able to get in.
They made their way to the bunker the beast on their tail with each second the beast got closer, and they were able to make it in time, but as they were going in Samuel caught a glimpse of victor at the back.
He stood close to the door and charged his attack just as victor came into view he attacked him with his fire pushing victor back.
The beast was already too close, and they would not have time to wait for him, so the teacher decided to seal the door.
---
(From Victor's view)
Victor watched as the class tried to defend against the beast their attacks did little to no damage, he heard the teacher scream for them to go to the bunker, he ran behind them not because he wanted to but because he was the slowest his body wasn't as strong as there's so naturally he wasn't as fast but he tried to keep up. He could finally see the bunker. Just as he was about to get there, he felt a sudden pain on his side and was thrown backwards; as he fell, he saw Samuel smiling by the side of the door.
And then a thud.
The barrier had come down. Samuel's fire had shoved him back, hard. His back still burned from the impact. He didn't even have time to scream before the steel wall slammed shut, cutting him off.
They had left him.
He stumbled to his feet. Breathing heavily, the monster was getting closer. He could now feel pressure emanating from the beast. As the beast got closer, he felt like he was suffocating.
Victor backed away as fast as he could, eyes darting around in hopes of finding something to defend himself with.
Victor found nothing that would be effective against the beast.
He suddenly remembered when the world paused as the square, thinking about the steps he was taught in a class on activating abilities; he tried to pause the world and failed. He tried over and over again, with every attempt ending in failure.
I don't know how! "victor shouted" with fear and anger.
Victor just realised the beast was already too close. The panic, along with the wound he got from Samuel's flame, was finally catching up with him.
He can't move his legs any longer; they were frozen from fear. And in a blink, the beast was on him.
Victor raised his hands, trying to defend his vital organs, but he was too slow, too weak and too fragile; the beast's claws had already passed through his hands and impaled him in the chest.
He was lifted from the ground blood spraying the wall of the bunker like a canvas.
Everything went silent. Victor looked down at the claw impaling him but he didn't scream.
The mark on his hand flicked once more before fading for good
He thought of his parents writing on the wall.
"You are stronger than you think. The power will come when you need it."
He used to believe in it
Then everything went dark.
