Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: Tasting the Toothpaste

Su Wanwan flipped through the contracts. One was a document transferring twenty percent of the shares. The other listed several properties under the Fu family's name, including commercial shops and companies. Compared to these, the shares Chen Shuang had previously presented seemed rather insignificant. If outsiders were to see these assets, they would surely be overwhelmed with rage and stunned into incoherent disbelief. Twenty percent of the shares! This was something the Fu family members had scrambled desperately to obtain but failed!

Su Wanwan remained unmoved, only puzzled by the old master's actions.

"What is this?" she asked.

"First time meeting, nothing much to offer. Don't be fooled by the quantity; most of it isn't worth much," the old master said lightly. An uninformed outsider might have truly been taken in by his words.

"I don't understand much else," Su Wanwan said candidly, "but I do understand this share transfer."

"You are now the chairman of Fu Group and the largest shareholder. If I gave this to you, wouldn't that mean—"

The old master waved dismissively, "How many days do you think this old body has left? These worthless trinkets will be handed over sooner or later."

His voice dropped abruptly, "I was just worried no one would want them…"

He had no interest in giving them to Fu Liangmu, not even the captain's pendant, which he found ugly and never even glanced at. Once, he reluctantly gave it to Fu Liangmu, only to find it discarded in the trash an hour later. The old master had never felt so aggrieved before.

The grand family estate, so glorious to outsiders and Fu family members alike, was treated like filth by Fu Liangmu.

Fine. Then he would give it to Su Wanwan. After all, she was chosen by Fu Liangmu. It couldn't be wrong.

"Grandfather—"

"Enough!" The old master's voice was stern, his cane pounding the ground. "If you say another word, I'll really get angry."

Su Wanwan fell silent for a moment.

"Then I have one condition."

The old master twitched his eyelid. Was it still not enough?

"Speak."

Su Wanwan lifted her serene gaze and calmly stated, "I want the position of design director. I won't ask Fu Jinghan for it; I want to compete fairly with him."

The old master blinked in disbelief. She must be joking! A mere girl in her early twenties, so arrogant!

"Ahem, suit yourself," he said, sparing himself the trouble of persuading Fu Jinghan.

"Thank you, grandfather." Su Wanwan rose.

The old master couldn't resist reminding her once more, "That necklace is valuable. Don't lose it, or I won't acknowledge you as my granddaughter-in-law."

"All right."

Upon entering the room, Fu Liangmu sat half-slumped on the small sofa. Hearing her, he lazily glanced at her, his eyes narrowing slightly.

"What are you holding?"

Su Wanwan waved it at him, "Grandfather gave it to me."

Fu Liangmu's lips twitched. That old man was truly everywhere.

"It's quite pretty," Su Wanwan remarked.

Fu Liangmu asked casually, "Do you like these things?"

"They're okay. I'm a bit sleepy; it's late, let's get some rest."

"Mm."

Once in bed, Su Wanwan and Fu Liangmu tacitly occupied their own sides, neither crossing the line. Fu Liangmu wasn't unwilling to get closer, but he knew it was pointless—it would only cause himself unnecessary pain.

Su Wanwan lay on her side, unusually sleepless. When her shoulder ached, she turned over, only to meet Fu Liangmu's deep, shadowed gaze.

"You startled me…"

Fu Liangmu remained silent, his slender index finger gently twining a strand of her hair.

"Can't sleep?"

"Mm, grandfather gave me many things…"

"That's what you deserve."

Su Wanwan hesitated.

"But…"

Fu Liangmu's finger tightened slightly; his dark eyes overflowed with tenderness. "Marrying me was meant for you to live a good life. Whatever you like or want, just tell me."

Su Wanwan's heart fluttered. She withdrew her hair and turned away.

"Sleep now."

Dawn broke. Su Wanwan awoke quietly. Sitting up, she ran her fingers through her tangled hair and slowly got out of bed.

"Fu Liangmu?" she called softly. No reply.

Squinting and yawning, she headed toward the bathroom.

Opening the door, Fu Liangmu was brushing his teeth.

"Uh, why isn't the light on…"

Just as she was about to leave, her wrist was grasped. The door slammed shut, blocking most of the light.

Before she could react, a new electric toothbrush was placed in her hand.

"Together."

"Oh…"

After brushing their teeth and washing their faces side by side at the spacious sink, Su Wanwan tried to escape, only to be pressed against the door.

"What flavor is your toothpaste?"

Confused, Su Wanwan pressed her head to the door, unable to lean back.

"Aren't we using the same brand?"

"No, yours smells better. I kind of want to taste it."

"But—um—"

Before she could finish, a kiss stormed upon her, overwhelming and disorienting her until a knock sounded at the door.

"Young master, young mistress, breakfast is ready."

Only then did Fu Liangmu relent.

Su Wanwan's hand rested on his chest, her dark eyes shimmering with moisture, her eyes reddened, voice tinged with a faint nasal quiver, revealing a mixture of grievance and accusation.

"You're cheating."

"Hm?" Fu Liangmu bent slightly, forehead touching hers. They were close, breaths mingling.

"We aren't even… together yet… and you're kissing me?"

"We're married. What I'm doing is what every married couple does. It's hardly a violation, right?" Fu Liangmu argued logically, wrapping his arm around her shoulders as they walked downstairs.

On the way down, they saw Fu Jinghan standing in the living room, forbidding them from eating breakfast. He glared resentfully at the couple.

After filling their stomachs, they left the old residence. Su Wanwan found an excuse to separate from Fu Liangmu and went to find Xia Kelan.

Once there, she took out the pendant and recounted everything in detail.

Xia Kelan decisively dialed Zuo Qingyan's number for a video call.

Su Wanwan immediately stopped her.

"Wait, it should be night over there now."

"It's only around ten o'clock. When does he sleep this early?"

However, Xia Kelan tried three or four times without answer, and the last call was even rejected.

Xia Kelan could only place her hope on Su Wanwan.

"Wanwan, you call."

Su Wanwan smiled faintly, "Even if I call, it will be the same…"

Before she finished, the call connected, revealing Zuo Qingyan's refined and elegant face on screen.

Xia Kelan shrugged and gave her a 'See? I told you so' look.

"Wanwan darling, come give me a kiss\~"

"That Xia girl was calling me like crazy just now. I totally ignored her!" Xia Kelan peeked from beside Su Wanwan, her smile forced and insincere.

"Wanwan, her second brother, you must have forgotten about the last time you broke the elder brother's lab reagents, right?"
