Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: The Mistress Takes the Throne

The atmosphere within the company was laced with an unspeakable tension. Just one weekend ago, everyone had racked their brains to hurl every insult imaginable at Su Wanwan. And yet, come Monday, it was as though all their venom had vanished into thin air—now they shamelessly flocked to her side, faces thick as walls.

Su Wanwan's desk was buried under a mountain of snacks—so many, it could rival a convenience store. Everyone quietly hoped she would accept their peace offering, take a bite or two, and let bygones be bygones. But by the end of the day, not a single packet had been opened.

Disappointment brewed in their hearts, yet at the same time, they found her petty—how could she still be hung up over such a trivial matter? They worked under the same roof, crossed paths daily. Why make things so awkward?

Just then, Su Wanwan pulled out two massive shopping bags—large enough to rival supermarket sacks—and swept every snack into them in one go. With effort, she lifted the bags and turned to leave.

A hand reached out."Wanwan, let me help you," Ye Nan said with a gentle smile, his face warm and composed, as if trying to summon the tenderness of days long past.

"No need. I've got it," Su Wanwan sidestepped him without a trace of expression and walked away.

Some colleagues chuckled mockingly. What did it mean to be blind despite having eyes? Ye Nan was the perfect example. He had failed to cherish her when he had the chance, only to yearn for her goodness after betraying her.

Su Wanwan walked straight ahead without once looking back, feeling dozens of gazes drilling into her back. Just as she was about to hail a taxi, a car stopped in front of her.

The window rolled down. Su Father's voice came deep and stern."Get in."

Su Wanwan gave a faint "Oh," then turned and walked instead toward a disabled man at the corner, sitting with a bowl. She handed him all the snacks.

The man was stunned at first, then choked up with gratitude."Thank you, thank you!"

Su Wanwan replied coolly,"No need to thank me. It wasn't my money anyway."

The employees watching from a distance nearly choked with frustration. They were just about to curse her when they noticed Ye Nan nearby, and swallowed their words.

Ye Nan sighed deeply."Why didn't I realize before… she's so kind?"

Every employee rolled their eyes in perfect unison.Kind? That was their money she gave away!

The ride back to the Su residence was shrouded in silence. Su Wanwan played on her phone, her head lowered, seemingly unaware of her father's thunderous expression.

Su Father cast sideways glances at her, his fury simmering in his chest, threatening to boil over."When facing your elders, all you know is how to stare at your phone? Not even a word of concern?"

Su Wanwan turned her face toward him with a faint, unreadable smile."Oh.""Father, is your back feeling better?"

Su Father coughed violently, clutching his chest, his fists clenched. This wretched girl—was she mocking the beating he took at the hotel from Luen's men?

When they finally arrived, Su Father stormed out of the car, clearly unwilling to spend another second in her company.

As they entered the living room, the sound of Su Nian's tearful sobs filled the air. Her eyes had swollen into slits, resembling walnuts—so swollen and hideous it was almost comical.

Su Father growled lowly,"Look what you've done to your sister!"

Su Wanwan calmly took out her phone, turned on the flash, and began snapping photos of Su Nian.

Su Nian screamed and scrambled to dodge. At this point, an unfiltered photo that ugly going public would be the final blow.

Su Father knew this better than anyone and lunged to slap the phone from her hand—only to miss.

"What are you doing?"

Su Wanwan glanced at the photos and smiled faintly."Helping my sister clear her name online. When people see how pitiful she looks crying, they're bound to feel sorry for her, don't you think?"

"Big sister, you've already ruined me… why are you still treating me like this… wuwuwu…" Su Nian sobbed even harder.

"How did I ruin you?" Su Wanwan looked genuinely puzzled."Are you saying what people online are claiming… isn't true?"

Su Father slammed a palm on the table, his fury igniting."If you hadn't fanned the flames, how could things have escalated like this?!"

Su Wanwan blinked in sudden realization."So you've been following the online comments too?"

Su Father exploded."With everything blowing up, who hasn't seen it?""Don't pretend you're blind—don't tell me you haven't!"

Su Wanwan took a slow sip of tea, her lashes casting delicate shadows, hiding the emotions in her eyes. When she looked up again, cold mockery glinted beneath the calm.

"Really? But when my sister falsely accused me of lip-syncing during her livestream, didn't that create quite the uproar too?""Father, were you blind back then?"

Su Father's fury reached its peak, his face livid."Su! Wan! Wan!"

Su Wanwan crossed her legs leisurely, tapping her fingers on her knee with an air of ease."If you really want to shut down the rumors about her being a mistress, it's simple—just have her marry Ye Nan. That'll shut everyone up."

Su Father pointed at her, trembling, heart practically seizing from rage."Easier said than done!"If it were really that simple, would he have needed to drag Su Wanwan back here?

"Everyone knows Ye Nan is bewitched by you. He doesn't even want to marry Nian Nian!"

Su Wanwan spread her hands helplessly."Father, that's unfair.""If my sister managed to wedge herself into our relationship for an entire year, clearly she's got some skills. Otherwise, how could she have made Ye Nan leave me?"

"Besides, rising from mistress to wife was never an easy feat.""You all just need a little more patience."

Su Father's face turned from pale to green."Must you speak so cruelly? Mistress? You and Ye Nan broke up because you couldn't hold onto his heart. What's that got to do with Nian Nian?"

"Mm, true. I never had her talent for seduction. I really should learn a thing or two from her about charming men."

Su Wanwan smiled sweetly.

Just then, the sound of screeching brakes came from outside.

"Perfect timing. I invited Ye Nan over. Whatever you want to say, you can say it to his face."

Su Nian's expression changed instantly. She jumped to her feet, trying to flee upstairs and fix her makeup.

"Don't go, sister," Su Wanwan caught her wrist,"Let your Nan-gege see your pitiful, tear-streaked face. Isn't crying in front of him your specialty?"

Su Nian flung her hand away in fury, but Su Wanwan gracefully collapsed like a delicate flower, falling softly to the floor.

Ye Nan entered just in time to witness the scene. He rushed forward in alarm, voice trembling with rage—something he had never shown before.

"Su Nian! What do you think you're doing?!"
