Chapter 13 - A Crown Offered in Blood and Velvet

Caelum bleeds for me now.

Literally. Symbolically. Erotically.

He brings me a diadem carved from dragonbone. Places it at my feet in the dark.

"This should have been yours. The throne. The name. Everything."

"And yet I don't want a crown, Caelum," I murmur. "I want obedience."

He leans in, voice hoarse. "Then command me."

So I do.

I tell him to betray his council.

To burn the Temple Index that holds records of every divine relic.

To kneel at my side when war comes.

He agrees.

Then he touches my wrist lightly and says something I didn't expect.

"You're the only one in this story who isn't pretending."

He kisses my fingers like a priest.

And I?

I bless him.

With my teeth.
