Daoist Burger had only recently gained full sentience.
According to the timekeeping of a certain Elder, the same Elder who once put the mission to capture a rogue hamster but had forgotten to cancel it.
Daoist Burger had awakened roughly one week after being given his name… and promptly running away.

Under that Elder's "care" if one could call it that, Daoist Burger studied quite a few things, like:
The Way of the Hamster.
The Way of the Sword.
The Way of Surviving a Crazy Elder.
It even met members of its own race.
One particular hamster clan was so terrifying that even Daoist Burger had nightmares about them.
Still, after gaining intelligence, Daoist Burger became something of a phenomenon.
He was a mascot, a junior brother, a senior brother, and sometimes even an emotional support hamster for the disciples.
His cute appearance (???) made him extremely popular.
Some disciples even wrote poems about him.
One Elder made a special cape for him.
