Venecia
What happened in class and during P.E. replayed in my mind like a broken record. Was it a coincidence? It didn't feel like one. The moment Romeo entered the class, I felt an itch on the mark—it was warm, almost alive. Then during P.E., the sensation intensified, like he was the trigger to whatever was happening to me.
Now, as I got ready for the charity event my family was invited to, I tried to push those thoughts aside. Events like this weren't my thing, but as the daughter of a powerful family, my presence was non-negotiable.
I chose a white gown that complimented my skin tone and opted for a clean makeup look. Perfection was essential—anything less, and people would seize the chance to find fault.
"Are you ready, honey?" my dad asked from the doorway.
"Yes, I am," I said, giving him a twirl.
"You look like an angel," my mom said, her face lighting up with pride.
"And you both look perfect," I replied with a soft smile. "Now, let's get going before we're late."
The ride to the venue was brief, but my nerves made it feel like an eternity. I didn't realize we had arrived until my mom gently called me out of the car. As we stepped inside, the room fell silent, all eyes turning to us.
The venue was stunning—high ceilings adorned with crystal chandeliers, tables draped in fine linen, and golden accents shimmering under the warm glow of lights. Guests mingled, their laughter and conversations filling the air until we walked in. My parents led me to greet the host and exchange pleasantries with other families.
Then, the Draekhaven family entered.
The air shifted. Chatter ceased, and even the music faltered. Every eye turned to them. My heart skipped a beat—our families were never present at the same event. This was unprecedented.
I watched as a guest awkwardly attempted to greet both families but stumbled over his words, retreating quickly under the weight of their cold indifference. My father's tight smile wavered slightly as Lord Draekhaven walked by without acknowledgment. Tension rippled through the room, like a string pulled too tight, ready to snap.
Feeling the weight of it all, I excused myself to the garden for fresh air. My parents would seize this moment to boast about me, their "perfect" daughter, but I wasn't in the mood to entertain anyone.
As I sat on a bench, surrounded by blooming flowers and the cool evening air, I felt a sudden itch on the mark again. It was more persistent now. And then, I sensed him.
Romeo...

Romeo
Events were a way for my family to remind everyone of our influence, and they worked every time. Guests fawned over my parents, hoping to gain their favor, though most were ignored. I wasn't fond of these gatherings, but tonight, something compelled me to attend—like I needed to claim something, though I couldn't explain what.
The ride to the venue was quiet. My thoughts kept drifting to Venecia and the strange occurrences of the past days.
When we entered, the room fell silent. Even the music stopped. I was used to our family commanding attention, but this time, something felt different. That was when I saw them—the Eryndors.
I blinked, stunned. Our families were never seen together, yet here we were, under the same roof. Lord Ardan Eryndor's jaw tightened slightly as he glanced in our direction, but he quickly turned away, his disdain evident. My parents' cold stares followed, an unspoken battle playing out in the tension-filled silence.
Then I saw her.
Venecia's white gown caught the light as she slipped outside, her figure a beacon in the crowd. My shoulder itched fiercely. I couldn't stop myself—I followed her, careful to remain unnoticed.
Third POV
Venecia sat on a bench, taking a deep breath. The scent of the flowers calmed her, helping her think clearly. But then, a crunch of leaves startled her. She turned, her eyes widening.
Romeo.
"What is he doing here?" she thought, her hand instinctively brushing her shoulder as the mark burned. She saw him wince, clutching his own shoulder, their shared pain pulling them together like magnets.
"You feel it, don't you?"
"Are you feeling the same thing?"
They spoke at the same time, their voices overlapping.
Romeo exhaled; his expression conflicted. "What exactly do you feel?"
"An itch, a burn, and... a pull," Venecia admitted, her voice trembling. She wondered if he could see the fear in her eyes, if he could feel the frantic beating of her heart.
His jaw tightened. "Same here. And now that we're this close..." He hesitated, his hands curling into fists. "I can't explain it, but I feel like I need to be near you."
Venecia blinked, her heart racing. "Where do you feel it?"
"My shoulder," Romeo said.
Her eyes widened. "Same with me. But how is that possible?"
"I don't know," he muttered, frustration lacing his tone. "This mark—it's driving me insane. I can't even sleep because of the nightmares."
Her breath caught. "Nightmares? You have them too?"
Romeo nodded. "Every night. And now, all I want is to hold you, which feels completely insane."
Venecia's knees buckled as the pain surged, but before she could hit the ground, Romeo caught her. The world seemed to slow, the sounds of the party fading away, as his strong arms wrapped around her. The moment their bodies touched, a shockwave of energy surged through them, a jolt that made her gasp.
The marks on their shoulders glowed, illuminating the garden with a soft, otherworldly light. The light from the marks pulsed, a warm, rhythmic beat that vibrated in the air, and carried the faint scent of ozone. A protective aura enveloped them, the air growing cold and time seeming to freeze. Around them, the flowers withered slightly, their petals curling as if bowing to the newfound power.
Inside the venue, guests whispered uneasily. Some turned to the windows overlooking the garden, noting the strange glow emanating from outside. The weight of the moment rippled subtly, unnoticed by the two caught in its epicenter.
Neither spoke, their eyes locked as they clung to each other, overwhelmed by the undeniable connection that tied them together.
