"Kallen's about to wake up, isn't she?" Otto asked, eyes gleaming with anticipation. Five hundred years—it had been five whole centuries of waiting. And now, finally, the moment of reunion was just around the corner.
"Yeah, almost time. Shouldn't be much longer," Rimuru replied calmly.
Just a few days ago, Rimuru had revived both Fu Hua and Welt. Then, heading over to Anti-Entropy, he brought back Schrödinger, Planck, and the others, adding them to the guild as well. Without pause, he traveled to Schicksal's headquarters, and using a guild item called the Soul Stone, he summoned Kallen's soul. Not stopping there, he also extracted Yae Sakura's soul from Theresa's Stigmata space—intending to revive them together.
Nearby, the Whitebeard crew was all barely holding in their laughter. Having seen Honkai Impact, they knew exactly what kind of relationship Kallen and Yae Sakura had. And now that Otto had joined the guild—meaning guild members couldn't harm one another—once Yae Sakura joined too...
"Hehehehehehehe..." A round of creepy, gleeful laughter broke out from the whole group.
Otto frowned as the sound echoed around him. What the hell was wrong with these people? Did they have some kind of mental issue? Was joining this guild really the right decision?
"Is there something I should know?" Otto asked with furrowed brows. "If there's an issue, say it. I'll do what I can."
"No no no, nothing at all!" everyone waved their hands innocently, feigning innocence.
Off in the distance, Himeko, Fu Hua, Theresa, and the others were whispering amongst themselves, occasionally sneaking glances at Otto.
"I'm betting 500 crystals Otto's gonna mentally collapse," a certain silver-haired Herrscher whispered gleefully. "Let's see you scheme your way out of this, Otto. I'm gonna turn that face of yours into a reaction meme and enjoy it every single day. I'll even share it with the guild chat. Bwahahaha!"
"You can't say that about Grandpa! He truly loves Kallen! Is it really okay to mess with him like this?" Theresa scolded, then quietly added, "That said... I'm betting 1,000 crystals he collapses."
"...Theresa~ Where exactly did you get 1,000 crystals?" Himeko asked with a wide, suspicious smile.
"Uh… Just sold off a liiittle bit of junk, nothing important. Hahaha..." Theresa tried to brush it off.
"You were the one who looted the guild storage, weren't you?!" Himeko's forehead bulged with anger. She lunged at Theresa with a flurry of punches.
"Ack! Himeko, I'm sorry! I won't do it again! Please let me go!" Theresa screamed.
Watching his granddaughter get pummeled in the distance, Otto could only sigh. Then, as he recalled how his own divine arsenal had mysteriously vanished, a wave of melancholy hit him. Guard against enemies all you want—nothing stops a traitor within. And it wasn't like he could do anything about it either. Sigh...
Moments later, one of the energy orbs shattered, and a graceful figure emerged into view.
Kallen opened her eyes and immediately saw a familiar golden-haired figure before her.
"Otto?" she asked, confused. "Why are you here? I thought I was dead… Where am I?"
"Kallen... it's been five hundred years," Otto said in a tone weighed with time. "It was this person who brought you back to life—who gave you another chance at this world." He gestured to Rimuru.
"You saved me? Thank you!" Kallen said with heartfelt sincerity.
"Aww, it was nothing. I'm actually a huge fan of yours, Kallen," Rimuru said, scratching his head with a sheepish smile.
"Thanks so much, Rimuru!" Kallen smiled warmly.
"I can't thank you enough for letting me see Kallen again," Otto added gratefully.
"Uhh, you might wanna hold that gratitude for a sec..." Rimuru said nervously. Just wait till Yae Sakura wakes up. You might want to kill me then. But hey, guild rules—you can't hurt another member! Heh... this is gonna be fun.
"Crack—"
As if on cue, the orb containing Yae Sakura shattered.
All eyes turned toward it.
Suddenly, Otto felt an ominous weight settle in his chest, as if something terrible was about to happen.
"Kallen..." Yae Sakura murmured, barely believing her eyes. She was seeing Kallen again. Really seeing her.
"Sakura..." Kallen's eyes welled up, equally stunned.
The two women threw their arms around each other in a tight embrace—and then kissed.
"Ooooh~" Everyone except Otto let out a gleeful chorus of teasing sounds. Some covered their eyes in mock embarrassment while peeking through their fingers.
"...What the hell just happened? Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to do?" Otto stood frozen, absolutely spartan. In the gazes between those two, he didn't see friendship.
He saw love.
"Wait—Kallen! What is going on here?!" Otto asked, shocked.
"I'm sorry, Otto. I'm with someone now. You're a good person," Kallen said apologetically.
Otto turned to stone. In that moment, he suddenly felt like the world deserved to be destroyed.
"You're a good person." Rimuru and the others finally couldn't hold it anymore and burst into laughter.
"Never thought I'd see the day. Got the whole thing recorded too! Gonna meme it to death!" the silver-haired Herrscher cackled wildly.
"Grandpa's... not gonna be okay, is he?" Theresa looked on with concern at Otto's lifeless expression. But even so, she calmly saved the photo she just snapped and tucked her phone into her pocket.
"'You're a good person'... That's what every girl said after rejecting my 100 confessions!" one of Whitebeard's sons shouted.
"That's not something to be proud of! Actually, I think you're worse off!" Marco replied, utterly speechless.
"...You've got a point. Waaaah!" The man ran off crying.
"Kallen!" Otto collapsed in despair but quickly caught himself. He was the overseer of Schicksal for 500 years. He clenched his fists and stood tall again. Looking seriously at Kallen and Sakura, he declared, "I don't care who it is you love! I, Otto, will never give up! If I can wait 500 years, I can wait 5,000! I will make you fall in love with me, Kallen! And you—whoever you are—I challenge you, in the name of Otto Apocalypse! Kallen will be mine!"
"Otto, this really isn't necessary..." Kallen said, half-exasperated.
"I accept. I'll prove I love Kallen more than you ever could," Yae Sakura cut in before Kallen could say more. How could she let someone just openly try to steal her girlfriend?
Rimuru, watching the trio unfold their melodrama, was practically rolling on the floor laughing. A man dueling a woman for another woman's love—how was he even supposed to describe this?
Truly, Otto had become the Ultimate Green Guy™—a man so thoroughly and utterly cucked that his suffering was borderline art.
Everyone else simply smiled on with creepy grins, thoroughly enjoying the romantic tragedy playing out before them.
