"What happened to her?" Rimuru stretched his neck, carefully inspecting the beautiful woman who had just fallen out of the dimensional gate. His expression grew serious. "More than 50% of her skin is burned, cellular activity has drastically dropped, her bodily functions are less than one-tenth of a normal person's... even her soul has taken severe damage. What on earth happened to her?"
As Rimuru analyzed the woman's injuries aloud, his hands didn't stop moving. A vast amount of energy poured from his body, enveloping hers and slowly beginning to heal her. He even separated some of his own cells to replace the ones on her body that were completely necrotic.
All the guild members stood silently around Rimuru, not daring to disturb the process.
After half an hour of meticulous treatment, the woman's wounds were fully healed—even the damage to her soul had been mended by Rimuru's own spiritual power.
"Alright!" Rimuru finally exhaled in relief. Looking at the woman lying on the ground, he frowned slightly. "She looks familiar somehow... but I just can't quite place her."
"Lord Rimuru," Diablo stepped forward and said respectfully, "shall I take this young lady to rest?"
"Oh, yes, please." Rimuru snapped out of his thoughts and nodded. "Take her to my room and assign someone to look after her."
"Understood." Diablo gave a slight bow, then gently lifted the woman in his arms and left the hall.
As their silhouettes disappeared into the distance, Rimuru tried again to recall where he'd seen the woman before. She definitely looked familiar... but he still couldn't remember. "Whatever. Forget it."
With that, Rimuru morphed into his slime form and bounced into Miss Shizu's arms, resuming his life of blissful laziness.
Time passed quietly...
"Kiana, live on. Turn this imperfect story into the one we dreamed of."
"Aunt Himeko, I'll become the strongest Valkyrie!"
"Himeko, you failed the test again."
From within the darkness, voice after voice echoed—calling out to the one still sleeping.
"Where am I...? Who am I...?"
"Himeko? Are you calling me...? Who's calling me?"
"Kiana...? Wait, Kiana! I have to save her! I have to get out of here. I still have something to do—I can't fall here! Aaaaaaah!"
"Ah!" Himeko sat bolt upright in bed, gasping for air. Sweat drenched her brow.
"Was I... asleep?" she murmured, taking a deep breath to calm her wildly beating heart as she looked around.
"A completely ordinary room." Himeko got out of bed and began moving around.
"You're awake already?" a voice called out from ahead.
"Who's there?!" Himeko immediately went on high alert, her body tense and ready to strike. She scanned the room—but found no one.
"Uh, could you maybe... look down?" Rimuru, in his slime form, said awkwardly.
"What is that thing?" Himeko blinked, startled. "It looks like jelly."
"I'm not jelly!" Rimuru sighed and jumped into her arms. She instinctively caught him.
His soft, squishy body seemed to charm every girl he met—he was just that cute. "I'm a slime! A good, kind slime!"
"A slime?" Himeko looked at him skeptically, but seeing how harmless and oddly comforting he was to hold, she didn't put him down.
"Oh, right! My name's Rimuru. What's yours?" he asked cheerfully.
"My name?" Himeko said softly. "I'm Himeko. Murata Himeko, a Valkyrie."
The moment she spoke her name, Rimuru froze, then exploded with excitement, bouncing energetically in her arms.
"I remember now! You're Murata Himeko! The Valkyrie of Schicksal!" Never mind that he was just a high schooler when he got isekai'd—he had grinded Honkai Impact for three years straight. If there was one thing he wanted most, it was to destroy Honkai once and for all and bring peace to that world.
"You know me? Then... where is this place?" Himeko asked, puzzled.
Rimuru quickly explained everything, and once she understood the situation, Himeko was left in shock.
"So you're saying... this is the Dimensional Guild? A guild that connects countless worlds? And now I'm one of your members?" she exclaimed. "That's even harder to believe than the Honkai!"
"Yup!" Rimuru nodded. Then his expression turned more serious. "Before you lost consciousness, were you fighting Kiana in her Herrscher of the Void form?"
"Yes..." At the mention of that name, Himeko's expression darkened. "I don't even know if I succeeded. That idiot Kiana... I miss her so much." Her tears welled up and streamed down her cheeks.
"Don't worry," Rimuru said gently. "You succeeded. And that bug girl really did keep your promise."
"Bug... girl?" Himeko blinked, confused.
"Yeah, the bug is Kiana!" Rimuru replied with a straight face. "Her brain cells might be even less useful than a bug's."
"Pfft—" Himeko couldn't help laughing. "That... actually describes her pretty well."
"Come on, let me introduce you to the others." Rimuru hopped off the bed and transformed into his human form.
"You can transform too?" Himeko said with interest, walking up to him and pinching his cheek. "What a fascinating creature."
Rimuru squinted in satisfaction under her touch, then said, "Alright, you can squish me later. Let's go meet everyone first." Without giving her a chance to object, he grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the guild hall.
