Chapter 9 - Deskmate Madison Montgomery

The next day. Early morning.

Soft sunlight streamed into the Kent family's kitchen.

The master of the house, Lois got up early, and with love for her family, she prepared to make a hearty breakfast for her three children. She hummed a light tune, walked to the kitchen, and opened the cupboard door. The gold medal female reporter thought she would see a lot of ingredients, but the scene in front of her made her smile freeze on her face.

In front of her, the cupboards were clean.

Clean is a bit too outrageous.

Even the boxes of cereal and cookies were missing. Lois rubbed her eyes and confirmed that she was awake, then she quickly rushed to the refrigerator in the kitchen.

There was no milk, frozen pizza, eggs, frozen chicken nuggets... There was only a few boxes of her own facial masks, and the boxes were still open, as if someone had looked inside to see if there was any food in them.

"What's going on?"

Lois couldn't help but take a deep breath, and a bad feeling welled up in her heart - her first reaction was that there was a thief in the house, so she hurried to check the property in the house. Fortunately, none of the valuables in the house were lost, but unfortunately, there was nothing in the house that could be called food.

Lois checked the doors and windows, and there were no signs of them being pried open.

"Clark!" Lois stood in the middle of the living room, frowning. She couldn't understand how a thief could steal food and not touch anything else?

At this time.

Hearing his call, Clark also yawned and walked downstairs.

"Didn't you hear any unusual noises last night?" Lois looked at her superhero husband. A man who could hear shouts from every corner of the city shouldn't be indifferent to a burglary at home.

"Maybe there's a mouse."

Clark glanced at the kitchen and understood why Lois asked the question. He had a strange expression on his face and seemed to be hesitant to speak, but in the end, he chose to make up an absurd excuse.

"Mouse?" Lois was almost laughing at such a lame excuse.

"It's okay, leave it to me." Clark quickly disappeared from the spot. From Lois's perspective, he was only away for a few seconds, and the next moment, he returned home with a bunch of food.

"Um?"

Lois looked at her husband suspiciously. She suspected that Clark had become a pig and had eaten up all the food in the house last night. Otherwise, it would be hard to explain why the food disappeared mysteriously.

She wanted to continue questioning.

However, due to her shouting just now, her eldest son, Jonathan, and her second son, Jordan, had also packed up and were coming downstairs. She and Clark did not intend to let the children know the identity of their husband so soon.

"I'll settle the score with you tonight!"

Lois gave Clark a look, turned, and went into the kitchen to start frying eggs.

"Good morning, Mom and Dad."

Jonathan walked to the refrigerator and took out a box of milk from the refrigerator that had already been filled by Clark, which might have been blessed by Superman's "freezing breath".

Jordan sat at the dining table in silence and waited for dinner to start.

"Jordan, go wake Ian up."

Lois spoke without looking up from where she was busy at the stove.

Jordan still seemed a little sleepy at this time. He propped up his face with one hand and looked sleepy. "I heard him go out early in the morning."

Hearing this, Lois frowned.

"Shouldn't we let him rest at home for a few days?"

Her tone was a little worried. At this time, Clark, with an expressionless face, was also helping her, bringing the fried eggs and toast to the two children one by one.

"You can't trap a nerd, he loves to learn." Jordan shrugged, with a subtle admiration in his tone - he really admired his little brother, who seemed to have been in such a mess last night due to the missile launching, but he was able to get up early today to go to school.

This guy deserves good grades!

"Let me talk to Ian tonight." Jonathan took on the responsibility of being the eldest brother. He added milk and coffee to his protein powder and mixed them together.

As a football player, this is a standard breakfast.

Flesh and blood are weak. He has to rely on technology and hard work to break through the siege in the fierce competition.

Metropolitan public high school.

The sunlight shone through the window onto the desks, forming bright spots of light. There were not many people in the entire classroom, and Ian was propping up his chin and staring at the system panel that only he could see.

[Extraordinary Occupation: Berserker LV1〔6/10〕]

It can only be said that this upgrade speed did not meet his expectations. There was nothing he could do about it. It was because he failed to exploit the system bug and turn himself into a perpetual motion machine for leveling up.

'Although I don't have a mana bar, it's clear that my skills can't be used infinitely.' Ian sighed slightly, feeling melancholy as if he had aged to eighteen years old in one breath.

'First, I need to strengthen my body.' Ian thought silently in his mind, 'Although my body is much stronger now than before, only with a stronger physique can I withstand more fierce leveling methods, allowing my extraordinary profession to upgrade faster, so that I can successfully "bang bang bang" and punch my father twice when the rebellious period comes.'

Ian, who was ambitious, was planning his puberty. As he was thinking, a strong scent of perfume approached him. He knew it was his deskmate who came to school without turning his head.

"Hey, isn't this Ian who skipped class for a day? Where did he go yesterday?" Madison Montgomery sat down next to him, her long golden hair swinging in a dazzling arc.

"Metropolis."

Ian didn't turn his head and responded dryly.

"What fun can there be in Metropolis that would make a study freak like you miss class on Monday?" Madison curled her lips and rolled her eyes exaggeratedly.

She put on a delicate makeup today, with her mascara applied to make each strand stand out clearly, her lips painted a bright rose red..

A necklace of a pretty, bourgeoisie level could be seen on her neck.

"I went to Hollywood on Saturday and Sunday. Although I didn't meet any discerning talent scouts, I did run into a man who was more handsome than you at the door of a bar called 'Lux'." Madison is a girl who wants to share. Of course, most of the time, her desire to share is to satisfy her vanity.

"However, no matter how handsome he is, that man is not my type, especially when he refused to let me enter his bar because I was a minor. I was even more speechless."

"In your words, he's a low-class man. Come on, if I walk out like this, who would think I'm only fourteen? I've been to the Metropolitan Bar twice!"

Well, things that are interesting may be late but arrive successfully.

Ian had no interest in the bar, but he was still attracted by Madison's words. The boy stared at his deskmate with a look of surprise.

"I have to say, little girl, you are really brave." Ian praised sincerely and even put down his book and gave a thumbs up to his brave deskmate.

Madison was stunned for a moment.

"Of course!"

Then she responded triumphantly.

Obviously, the blonde girl thought Ian was talking about how she dared to go to the bar. However, in fact, Ian actually trembled a few times when he heard the name "Lux". If Ian remembered correctly, the people living there were the only ones on earth that his father could not defeat.

At least that's the normal case.
