Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19: RETREAT

Everything's seems to be fine now, everyone defeated their enemy without casualties, but there's one more variable that will break their streak.

Levi found himself against Carmella, his corrupted arm glowing with dark energy. The fight was intense, with Levi using his powers to try and take down Carmella. But despite her lack of obvious abilities, Carmella seemed to be able to dodge and weave around Levi's attacks with ease.

At first, Levi was gaining the upper hand, his corrupted arm proving to be a powerful tool in battle. But as the fight wore on, Levi began to feel a creeping sense of weakness. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he felt like he was losing strength, like his body was being drained of its energy.

Carmella smiled, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "You should have known better than to fight me," she said, her voice dripping with confidence.

And then, Levi saw it. Carmella's fingers were subtly manipulating the air around her, there, Carmella revealed his ability. "Through your blood I can make you mine." She said with a smile. Carmella's ability allows her to control her enemy once she accumulated enough of her target's blood.

Levi's eyes widened in horror as Carmella's control over his blood snapped the tiny bit of control he had over his corrupted arm. The arm twitched and convulsed, its dark energy surging out of control.

"No," Levi whispered, his voice barely audible. "Not again."

But it was too late. The corrupted arm had taken over, and Levi was no longer in control. He felt himself being pulled towards Carmella, his body obeying her every command.

Carmella smiled, her eyes gleaming with triumph. "You're mine now," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction.

Levi's eyes were vacant, his body moving on autopilot as Carmella led him towards the tower. The group watched in horror as Levi, now completely under Carmella's control, entered the tower with her.

"We have to get him back," Sylvia said, her voice filled with concern and worries.

But Cain shook his head. "We're too exhausted," he said. "We can't take on Carmella and whatever's inside the tower in our current state."

The group stood helplessly, they couldn't do anything even if they wanted too. "but we can't just leave him behind." Zed rebutted. he was about to say something again but was stopped by Glenn. "Echo's having her visions again." He said.

Echo's eyes snapped open, her gaze distant as she swayed unsteadily. "We can't go in there," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The group turned to her, concern etched on their faces. "What do you mean?" Cain asked, his voice low and urgent.

Echo's eyes refocused, her gaze locking onto Cain's. "I saw it," she said, her voice trembling. "If we go in there now, we'll die. We have to retreat."

The group exchanged uneasy glances, but they knew better than to doubt Echo's visions. They quickly gathered their wits and retreated, leaving the tower and Levi behind.

As they put distance between themselves and the tower, they couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Would they be able to rescue Levi? And what was waiting for them in the future?
