(Palpatine's PoV)
Ah, things are going well.
I, a Sith Lord, now sit as the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, a seat of power that can be used to control the entire Republic, even the Jedi, if I make the right moves.
I wonder what the long-dead Jedi who sought to exterminate us would be feeling if they knew what was going on. They should be turning in their graves.
Hahaha, thinking about that makes me very happy.
Me, as the Supreme Chancellor, is like giving them the middle finger.
Hahaha.
Control yourself, you idiot. There is still that old green monster living in the Jedi Temple. If he feels something is wrong, everything would go down the drain. I need to only control myself for a decade or so at most.
With the decline in the Jedi's reputation and the increase in the Senate's corruption, it would be very easy to replace them. Once the people get tired of them fully, it will be easy to replace these dying institutions.
Then no one can stop me, even if I openly walk as a Sith, something no Sith has been able to do in a thousand years. I would forever be recorded in history as the greatest Sith.
No, I would be the greatest Sith in the past, present and future.
With the appearance of that boy, Anakin Skywalker, everything is going to change. Things that my master failed to achieve, I would do as long as I can get the boy to my side, which I would sooner or later.
For now, the Jedi can keep him, which would be my way to strike deep inside the order.
Ding!
Hmm, the war of Naboo should have been done by now. I hope Maul killed those troublesome Jedi and that Queen.
She was useful in creating this crisis, but her naive ideals would cause trouble in the long term. It's best to nip them when they are in the bud stage, rather than let them grow into thorns.
Hmm, it was not a message from the Trade Federation or Maul. This was for the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, not Sidious.
Looks like things didn't go as planned. Let's see what happened.
---
Hmm, that Jedi boy, Jayden, is alive, and so was Queen Padme.
Well, it doesn't matter. They can't stop my plans anyway. Though they would be a small issue in the future, I don't think they would be much trouble.
Qui-gon Jinn is dead, which is a good thing for me.
I can use this to further corrupt Dooku and turn him into a Sith and into one loyal to me. Also, that Jinn fellow was not like a usual Jedi. If he had lived on, he might have caused changes in the Jedi Order.
The order has become stagnant long ago. If not, our plans wouldn't have been going on so smoothly for so long.
He might have become someone who could change the Order for the better. That can't happen. If that happens, how can I overthrow the Jedi?
Good thing that he is no longer an issue.
Also, just as I thought, Anakin was the Chosen One. He seemed to be the one who destroyed the Central Hub that controlled the droids, thereby ending the war.
The loss of the Federation wouldn't matter much. It's not like they would be in power once I take over the galaxy anyway. Losing a few wouldn't matter. I can replace Nute with another greedy bastard. There was no lack of such idiots.
My greatest loss was Maul. I spent a lot of resources and time on him to turn him into what he was.
What a waste.
Ah, I forgot about that.
The Force always seeks a balance.
I won the seat of supreme power in the Republic, and I even ended my master without any issue once I took my place as the Chancellor, as the Sith doctrine dictates—so many victories for myself.
As usual, the Force tried to balance the galaxy by eliminating Maul.
He was a usual pawn, but he was a brute, not usual for what's about to happen. His death would also give me less stress. I can move things along and turn the senators and the rich towards my side slowly.
Maul is useless in that aspect and would have ruined such things.
Also, there was no need for Sith to appear in the near future. It would only alert the Jedi more. It's best to keep things on the down low until my Clone army is ready to help me take over the galaxy.
Hmm, Darth Sidious has to take respite for now, but as Chancellor Palpatine, there is a lot of work to do, and the best way to start is on Naboo.
Though the Senate has failed to act as per Queen Padme's request, she still believes that I stand with her. There are a few senators who were like her. If I can direct that battle's victory, I can get some of those like-minded senators, like Alderaan's Senator Bail Organa.
Though in the end, they would be a hurdle to achieving what I need, I need their votes on some things that can propel me higher in the present. I can always eliminate them in the future if they feel troublesome.
"Amedda", I called my most loyal and useful assistant.
"Chancellor", Mas Amedda appeared in front of me.
I keep forgetting that he is not human, and every second that reminds me of that. Though I don't like them, and think they should be ruled, not be rulers, but a few like him are useful.
"Ah, Amedda", I put on a smile, "I need to go to Naboo, to deal with the aftermath of the Federation war. Prepare a ship and some guards", I ordered him.
Amedda bowed his head, "As you wish, Chancellor", he spoke and left to deal with the travel.
Hmm, now how to make the ceremony turn in my favour? I heard that Padme united with the Gungans against the Trade Federation.
Hmm, I can use that.
As a former senator of Naboo and also a close friend of Queen Padme, with her help, I can pull up my image as a friendly chancellor who wouldn't discriminate against others.
The Jedi and the Republic think that it was a win for the Republic, but they have no idea that they gave me a good platform to gain more support for myself.
Hahaha.
