"So, these are the four Jedi that I need to kill. Master said to kill the boy, no matter what. It must be that youngling", Maul muttered to himself, as he observed the young boy among the four.
It was easy to determine who his master had pointed out to.
The Jedi worked similarly to the Jedi when it comes to taking Padawans.
Just as Sith follows the rule of to, so do the Jedi.
When they were still younglings, many would be under the care of a single Jedi Master, but there would be more than one, each one teaching them a different thing.
Once these younglings become Padawans, things change.
One master can take only one padawan under their care, until that padawan is ready to take the trail to become a Jedi Knight. Once the padawan sheds that role, their master can take another padawan.
With four, he can easily see that two are masters, while the other two are padawans, but Maul's eyes were on Jayden, because he understood immediately who his Master referred to.
The Force said that it was him.
Maul could feel the strength of the Force that the boy had. The boy is not a threat at the moment, but could become a threat, a real threat to the revival of the Sith and could stop them from taking their revenge.
For a thousand years, they prepared in the shadows, with only one goal: to destroy the Jedi Order.
From what his master has informed him, the Chosen One has appeared, and for the plan to work, they need to raise the Chosen One to a height where he would have no choice but to fall into the depths, and he would be the weapon that destroys the Jedi from the inside.
There was no need for another powerful young Jedi to appear at this moment and steal the show. If that happens, things could go haywire with the Chosen One.
The Sith had made plans to destroy the Order, even without the Chosen One, as they had no idea that he had been born. Their experiment had failed, or at least that's what they believed, so for so long.
Now with the young Chosen One's appearance, there was no need for anyone who was stronger than him to survive. There were already too many Jedi who could make both Darth Sidious and even Darth Plagueis run for their money.
They didn't want any more. Therefore, addressing potential trouble early on would be a wise choice.
Maul ignited his lightsaber and moved against the Jedi to deal with them, all of them if possible. Though the boy was a target, he was not foolish enough to think he could reach him before dealing with the other three.
So, his goal was to eliminate all four. Leave none alive.

(Jayden's PoV)
What the fuck?
What the hell did I do?
Why is Maul targeting me?
Did he think that because I am young, I am an easy target?
He would regret...wait a second, why is he targeting me?
Did dear old Palpy order Maul?
It's possible. It seems he wants to eliminate me before I can become a thorn in his side. I can understand his thinking, but that doesn't mean I like this. It is my life we are talking about.
I need to be careful in the future, but before that, I need to survive the present.
Others understood that, for some reason, Maul was targeting me. My master estimated the reason. As my master, she knew about my Midichlorian count and I believe at least Master Qui-gon Jinn should be aware of.
I am, after all, the highest after Yoda at the moment.
Anakin now holds the highest number, followed by Yoda. After them, that would be me.
So, they tried to shield me as much as they could, but I know they couldn't adequately protect themselves and shield me, too.
While the three actually fought Maul, I merely distracted him from causing significant damage. Whenever he found a way to inflict some fatal wound, I would thrust some object at him, distracting him.
I think I only made him madder than he ever was.
The fight lasted longer than it should have in the movie. Everyone was getting tired.
Maul pushed Kenobi away from the battling area. Even before that, he pushed my master away, too, but she was already nearing us.
It was at that moment that Maul went for me.
Shit, I was done for.
---
I waited for a few seconds, but the death blow didn't come, and I saw why it didn't. I was never his target. I was just bait.
Master Jinn was his true target, and because of me, he was able to injure him.
No, No, No, this is not how it should have been.
"NO!!!", Kenobi cried out in horror, which pulled me out of my distracting thoughts.
Hearing the cry, Maul smirked in arrogance, which made him lose everything at that moment. He was so concentrated on Kenobi that he didn't see the attack coming, as he had caused a lot of pain for the Padawan by killing his master.
He was revelling in the pain that he inflicted, and he forgot for a second that he was in the middle of the battle.
My master, who was close by, took advantage of the second that Maul's focus faltered from the battle and struck him on his back, tearing flesh.
"Ahhh", Maul cried out in pain.
Kenobi was running towards us, took the chance and struck Maul's head, cleaving it completely.
Unlike in canon, instead of getting cut in half and falling into the waste management system, this time, something different happened.
His head was cleaved, and unlike last time, where he survived, there was no chance for that to happen this time, but as the saying goes, where there is death, there always would be death.
I failed.
I failed to save Master Qui-gon Jinn.
No, I can't accept that. I can see him. I have Force Heal. I can save him. I crunched beside him, hoping to save him.
[Force Heal]
