Chapter 33 - Seriously Injured

Feeling both amused and furious, Carlotta's anger began to simmer within her.

This person had challenged her to a duel, at least with the intention of severely injuring her, or perhaps even killing her!

So why should she be polite?

Carlotta is feared by no one in a duel of equal rank, and she will certainly accept this challenge. Anyone who dared to trouble her would be made to regret it!

"What is your alchemical tool?" Carlotta asked once more.

Bernard pulled a small bear doll from his pocket and placed it on the table. The doll was brown, about the size of a fist.

He explained, "This is a fire-breathing bear. It can spew flames and is a genuine high-quality alchemical tool."

Carlotta had never seen such a peculiar alchemical tool before, but if it could truly breathe fire, it would indeed be worthy of its high quality.

So Carlotta agreed, "Very well, I accept your duel challenge."

Upon hearing this, Bernard couldn't help but feel a bit excited. Although he knew that duel challenges were rarely refused in the Wendell Empire, this matter still stirs his emotions as it concerns his future.

He didn't know that Carlotta's acceptance of the duel had nothing to do with the duel customs of the Wendell Empire. She simply knew his true intentions and intended to teach him a lesson.

The two immediately left the cafeteria and headed towards the dueling arena.

Several people in the cafeteria who had witnessed the exchange followed quickly, eager to watch the spectacle.

Due to the early hour, the dueling arena was empty except for the arena managers.

The process of applying for a duel was simple, and soon Carlotta and Bernard were standing inside the arena, with Bernard's rank suppressed to match Carlotta's.

"Third-tier apprentice?"

Feeling his current rank, Bernard couldn't help but show surprise.

According to the information he had previously obtained, Carlotta had only recently become a second-tier apprentice. How had she become a third-tier apprentice in such a short time?

But being a third-tier apprentice was good. He could use more tactics without being too restrained.

Outside the arena, a small crowd had gathered to watch. Avery, upon hearing about the duel, had also rushed over.

"Miss White?" Seeing Carlotta, Avery was surprised to find that one of the duelists was her classmate.

"Who do you think will win?" Someone nearby asked, already speculating about the outcome of the duel with great interest.

"It should be Bernard Dias. After all, he's a third-year student."

"Master Dias is a sixth-tier apprentice. Even with his rank suppressed, his combat experience remains. I can't see him losing."

"Miss White is too reckless. She could have accepted the duel, but she shouldn't have wagered a high-quality alchemical tool. Such a tool would cost at least ten thousand Fels."

Everyone was discussing, clearly favoring Bernard.

Avery, however, remembered Carlotta's duel with Camella and felt that Carlotta still had a good chance of winning.

Thinking this, Avery immediately said to the person beside her, "I think Miss White has a chance to win. If you don't believe me, how about a bet?"

Inside the arena, the duel had begun.

Neither Carlotta nor Bernard made the first move immediately, both instead searching for weaknesses in the other.

Bernard's goal wasn't just to win the duel; he wanted to seriously injure Carlotta, and if he could "accidentally" kill her, that would be even better.

But generally, in duels, if one clearly defeats their opponent and still doesn't hold back, it would be criticized, and the security bureau might interfere, considering it no longer a simple duel but an intentional killing.

The duel customs of the Wendell Empire emphasize restraint.

But Bernard didn't want to hold back. He had to seize the opportunity to severely injure Carlotta as reasonably as possible.

Coincidentally, Carlotta was thinking the same thing.

Before today, she hadn't known Bernard, but since he was willing to be Soren's pawn, she would break the legs of this dog!

Both continued to size each other up as they closed the distance between them.

Ten meters, nine meters, eight meters... five meters, four meters...

Bernard moved!

He felt he had found an opportunity and threw the fire-breathing bear doll forward. Once it lands, it will automatically spew flames, causing damage to Carlotta.

At the same time, he held a standard-quality alchemical sword in his hand, rushing forward.

As soon as the fire-breathing bear breathed fire, his attack would follow the flames, creating a dense and continuous barrage, aiming to injure Carlotta in an instant.

This was the best attack method he had determined from years of experience, capable of unleashing the greatest lethality in the shortest time.

Little did Bernard know, the Carlotta he was facing was someone with an unfair advantage.

Elven Butterfly Dance!

Elven Phantom Sound!

Elven Light!

The first three movements of the Twelve Echoes of Elven Steel were unleashed by Carlotta in one go.

She closed the distance quickly, making the already short gap between them even smaller.

Before the fire-breathing bear could land, a flurry of sword shadows appeared before Bernard.

As the sword shadows emerged, a series of whooshing sounds followed, as if coming from the front or the sides.

Before Bernard could react, a blinding light burst before his eyes, causing him to squint.

The Rose Cross, covered in a light resembling dawn, merged with the chaotic sword shadows of the Elven Butterfly Dance.

Each shadow glowed, making the attack points dazzling and impossible to look at directly.

Bernard could only desperately swing his sword before him, trying to block the incoming attack, unaware that Carlotta had crouched down, changing her Rose Cross's movement to a sweep, aiming for his legs.

The next moment, the Rose Cross viciously slashed into Bernard's right leg, slicing through it like butter, then continued to the left leg, cutting through it as well.

In a single frontal exchange, Bernard had both legs severed, his body uncontrollably falling backward and crashing to the ground.

"Aaaaaah!"

The next moment, a piercing scream echoed through the dueling arena.
