Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"What nonsense are you spouting?"

He looked at me with confusion.

"Nonsense?"

His brows furrowed.

"Magic levels don't exist. Neither does magic. So what in tarnation are you talking about? You must be drowning in your delusions, I suggest you stop reading comics."

I sighed. How can someone older than me be this delusional?

He facepalmed himself then glared right back at me. What was his deal?

"You idiot… Don't tell me you don't know anything at all!"

"Don't know what? Are you trying to say something that'll trick me? If you are, then you'd have to do more than that."

"I know what you are capable of. I'd never do that, like you said, I'd have to do more to trick you."

This sudden change of atmosphere is suffocating. His face is serious now and I'm most definitely confused. What am I capable of? Pshh. He might be blabbing, I should not think about it for a while although I still need to keep my guard up just in case.

"What are you on about? What's with these sudden compliments to my pride? Weird of you but, it helps."

"I'm merely speaking the truth. I saw what you did back there. In the Ever lands I mean."

"And what exactly did I do?"

He was getting into my private space even more. He seems to know about me, what I did there. Thinking back to it, i-

"You single-handedly killed a knight of the Everlands. Do you know how dangerous they are? Do you even know a fraction of what you just did?"

Hm. How did He know?

"Answer me. And don't look at me with those eyes, you are scaring nobody."

Before I knew it I was already glaring at him, gazing through his body. He knows secret information about me. I can't let him live any longer.

"Trying to kill me now, ay? That won't work. You might cause me a little trouble, sure. But I'll beat you eventually. You may be dangerous but don't forget I saved your ass earlier. If it wasn't for me you'd be dead by now."

I clenched my teeth and grabbed his collar, my face glowing red.

"Shut the hell up you arrogant prick!"

"Don't touch me. You don't even know magic, let alone use one. You don't stand a chance against me."

His smirk, it was irritating. I wanted to punch him but, my instincts are telling me no.

I slowly let go of his collar, then stepped back and glared at him. He was getting on my nerves. Back then, he said he had a lot of friends there in the Everlands but looking back on it now, how can a sane human being love this guy and be his friend?

He glared back.

"I said to stay away from me earlier, didn't I? That your magic level can kill us?"

"You don't need to remind me. And for your information, magic levels are not real."

"Still in your opinion, huh? Tell you what, you are smart but stupid. Am I wrong?"

He raised his hand and maintained eye contact with me.

"Most definitely. I am smarter than you and not stupid."

Then, he slowly and controllingly swished his hand to the side. And by then, I was already on

the ground. my hair looked like it was struck by lightning, and my eyes widened in shock. A green aura surrounded him, it was as if the wind itself was obeying his every command.

"You… What are you!"

"A magic user. If you didn't already know, I'm a mage prodigy. Name's Edward, nice to meet you Maic."

"Fuck off, prick!"

He sighed then looked at the view of the sea. His jet black hair brushed the tip of ears, the wind being nice and cool. It was dark, how can you see in something that dark? Might be due to his magic. Or maybe he has ultra vision in those eyes. Hmm, maybe that's why he saw me kill that knight. I did it for a reason, though I don't want to be reminded or even think about that.

"Look, I don't wanna fight you. I just want us to be allies, I can use that brain of yours for good."

I gritted my teeth, rolling my eyes at his words.

"My brain this, my brain that. You keep complimenting me that I'm smart so much that it is starting to piss me off. Sure, you saw me kill a knight, but what does that have to do with anything!-"

"Let me talk and explain why I took a liking to your brain, would ya? Damn, it's like you talk and complain nonstop."

I kept quiet, my brows furrowed. But I also found myself weakening. It was as if he stabbed my

heart with a greatsword. Brushing it off, I let him explain his shenanigans.

"The night you killed that knight, I was observing your every move and your expression. You were baiting that knight, a knight trained for killing strong people who will get in the way of his king. And there you were, just after 2 minutes, you were already staring him down in the ground. I noticed that after you baited him to swing, you used the rhythm and the speed of the sword against him. It was as if you knew the law of physics in your whole body, and memorized everything. And your punch? I knew it was weak but you used your whole body in every punch. You dodged those slashes like it was child's play, even laughing at his face."

I stared deeply into his eyes, my anger washing away.

"Alright, that's enough explaining for now. You are getting into detail too much, you need to close that mouth of yours. Look, I get it. I killed a knight, but that doesn't mean I'm a prodigy. I just got lucky fighting him, that's all."

'Now's not the time to be humble, I recognize your capabilities. Your potential, and your resilience!"

He turned back once again, his face slightly furrowed. His tone increased slightly, his demeanor changing.

"I'm not being humble, I'm telling you the truth! And please, can you stop telling me how cool I am? It's getting annoying and repetitive, I swear!"

My voice raised, and my face wrinkled.

A loud sigh came out of my breath, staring at him, arms crossed and my brows still slightly furrowed.

"What do you want me to do anyway? Be your slave? Be your bodyguard? What just tell me already!"

I shouted, my voice rising even more, and my face heating up.

"Just come with me to Demura! I'll help you there, teach you the basic human life if I have to."

He shot back, his brows fully furrowed and his face heating up too, veins popping out his forehead.

Taken aback, my brows furrowed slightly more and my lips wrinkled.

"Are you saying I'm stupid or something?"

Him feeling the same as me, he glared.

"No! I'm saying that because you spent your life as a slave! Not because you were stupid, not because you were autistic, but because you were locked up your whole life!"

Hearing his words, my brows went back to normal and my eyes softened.

"Alright fine, I'll join you on this stupid little trip. I'm in."

I sighed, scratched my head and walked away. I yawned and stretched my hands and my back.

I looked back, eyes relaxed, and lips straight.

"Wake me up when we arrive. I'll just be sleeping on the other side, on the ground…"

Heavy footsteps were heard throughout the ship. It was my lazy bum.

"Alright. Goodnight, Maic."

He dismissively replied. Sitting down at the ground, admiring the night view. The stars were beautiful as always, the quiet waves soaring past as the ship moved. A quiet night after a battle, it's heartwarming and relieving.

I walked slowly to the other side of the ship, my feet sliding with the ground. I looked around the place, looking for a nice spot. I squinted my eyes as I tried to find the perfect spot, but all attempts failed. I sighed deeply when my legs tightened up, my sight narrowed, and my breathing became heavy. Everything felt heavy, I looked at the ocean, and the cold wind brushed my hair out of my face. The view is really beautiful, isn't it?

My legs folded as I dropped to the ground, my eyes slowly closing. My breathing became more relaxed as the time passed.

… My body felt like it was in space. Waves passed through my body like it was water, it was a

pleasant feeling. My heart fluttered, it was an unknown feeling for me. I didn't know what I was feeling, but I didn't want to complain.

"Ah!" I screamed as I was suddenly flying through the abyss.

I couldn't move a finger, my eyes twitched as I flowed through the darkness. I slowly stopped flying, floating through everything. Everything felt slow, my perception of time was gone. I looked at my hands. My heart dropped, my eyes darted in every corner. My breathing became heavy, my sweats being cold, my mind being swept up to places.

My hands raised instinctively, my eyes looked at my hands forcefully. My breathing fastened, my chest trembling. My hands flickered with blood, guilt, and murder. I felt myself free from the numbness, I took a deep breath and screamed when I felt a sharp sting in my cheeks.

My body jumped and I saw Edward's face so close to mine. The dark abyss was not present, everything felt bright and… Happy?

"Get off me." I moved his face farther from my face as I raised my body and dragged my butt backward.

He slapped my hand away from his face, his face frowning.

"We're here, slave." He stood up on his knees, glaring down at me.

"I thought we were past that? The slave part I mean." I glared back at him, my brows frowning as well.

We don't get along, huh? My brows always frown when I'm with him.

"Stand up, we'll be getting off soon." He offered a hand, which I reluctantly took.

A cold breeze ran past me, my teeth chattered and my legs weakened.

I looked to my right, and saw a country full of people, and land filled with buildings. Luckily, there was a dock. And surprisingly, The port was also filled with people, they were holding out banters, flags, and lots of food. I looked at Edward, my jaw dropped.

"I told you." He responded to my look with a smug smirk, very punchable.

"I am a prodigy. And not to mention, I am the hope of this country."

I gritted my teeth, my brows furrowing even more. I clenched my fist and smiled, but that didn't quite reach my eyes. My eyes twitched as I stared at him.

"I didn't ask for shit. Stop rubbing salt on my wound, would ya?"

My eyes twitched even more, my eyes betraying my smile.

"Alright, prepare for arrival. And prepare your ears also, this country is lively."

His lips curled, reaching one of his eyes.

"Whatever. Let's just get this shit over with."

I sighed deeply, scratching my head as I walked through the very bottom of this pirate ship-like ship.
