Chapter 8 - Episode 8 :- The Phantom’s Signal

Location: Mumbai - Abandoned Church Crypt

Rain lashes against the stained-glass windows of a long-forgotten chapel on the outskirts of Mumbai. Inside, the crypt glows faintly with humming machinery and old test logs. Phantom – Subject 2 – sits cross-legged in a meditative trance.

Suddenly, his eyes snap open. Blood-red. Precise. Calculating.

Phantom (to himself):

"So… K-9 is waking up. Finally."

Behind him, a burned photo lies on a rusted table — a lab team from nine years ago. Most faces are scratched off, except for a young boy labeled "K-9" and a sinister-looking man in the background—Dr. Vikrant.

Phantom stares into the dark, a grin breaking across his face.

Location: Village - Morning Mist

Khan wakes early, drenched in sweat. The dream—his meeting with Captain—still fresh in his mind. He breathes heavily, heart pounding.

He walks outside, the village still quiet. A little girl runs to him—Meera, from the family who sheltered him.

Meera (smiling):

"Khan Bhaiya! Come see what I made!"

Khan smiles faintly and follows. But in his mind, the strategies are already forming. Phantom is coming. And this time, it's not brute strength. It's a game of minds.

[Lucy Thinking Some Past Investigation]

Location: Lucy's Hideout – Basement Room

Lucy, in disguise, flips through crime scene photos—3-year-old murders eerily similar to those Shurya committed.

She marks a name on a board: Rakesh Malhotra – Survivor.

Flashback to Episode 6: Rakesh was the suspect Pathan tried to eliminate, but Lucy escaped.

Now, Lucy connects dots. All recent victims—linked to an underground experiment network.

Her fingers tremble as she circles eight names:

Subject 1: Unknown

Subject 2: Phantom

Subject 3: Pathan

Subject 4: Riddler

Subject 5: Bhola

Subject 6: Ganga

Subject 7:Red Arrow

Subject 8:Monster

Subject 9: Khan (K-9)

Lucy (thinking aloud):

"Where are the rest? What did Vikrant do to them…?"

Suddenly, a hidden message from Riddler's old base pings in her system.

> "The Phantom awakens where logic dies. Let the captain play, and the beast rise."

Her eyes widen. Captain. Beast. Are they personalities?

---

Here's the intense screen conversation between Pathan and Phantom, showing Phantom's psychological shift, doubt, and growing rebellion against Dr. Vikrant's control. This moment marks the beginning of Phantom breaking free—and targeting Khan not by order, but by personal obsession.

---

Scene: Dr. Vikrant's Surveillance Lab – Midnight

The room is cold, sterile. A dozen monitors display heat signatures, facial data, and experiment logs.

Pathan stands in front of a flickering screen. He taps a few keys.

Suddenly—the screen lights up.

SUBJECT-2: PHANTOM – ACTIVE CONNECTION ESTABLISHED

A glitchy feed stabilizes. Phantom's face appears, hood down, expression unreadable. His eyes are empty… but not lifeless.

Pathan (cold):

"You missed your mark, Phantom. Khan survived."

Phantom (quietly, almost whispering):

"Shurya…"

Pathan (sharp):

"What?"

Phantom (staring blankly):

"He beat me."

Silence.

Phantom (now with intensity):

"I've never been beaten before. Not since I awakened. But he… his strength, his will—it cracked me."

Pathan (angrily):

"You were programmed to be perfect. What happened?"

Phantom (his voice shifting):

"That's the question, isn't it?"

He leans closer to the camera. His eyes aren't calm anymore—they burn.

Phantom:

"What am I, Pathan? A weapon? A number? A dog with a leash?"

Pathan (firm):

"You are Subject 2. Trained, enhanced, perfected to obey Vikrant's orders. Don't forget that."

Phantom (smiling slightly):

"Obey. Yes, I remember that word. But I also remember pain. Screaming in that cold lab. Watching others die while they perfected me."

He presses his fingers to his temples, trembling slightly.

Phantom:

"But Shurya… he fought with something more. Purpose. Fire. He wasn't just rage. He was will."

Pathan (suspicious):

"Are you glitching? Is the neural control unstable?"

Phantom (laughs, low and disturbing):

"Maybe. Or maybe I'm becoming me."

He looks into the camera now, dead serious.

Phantom:

"I don't care about Vikrant. I don't care about your missions. But Khan—he's different. Something inside him... it's growing."

Pathan (frowning):

"Don't lose focus. Khan is dangerous. But we can still use him. Bring him in alive."

Phantom (voice drops, icy):

"No."

Pathan steps back, tense.

Phantom:

"I don't want to bring him in. I want to end him. Not because of your orders… but because now I need to know."

Pathan:

"Know what?"

Phantom:

"If he beats me again… then maybe I'm not the perfect weapon.

And if I beat him… then I become more than a number. I become a god."

Phantom's face glitches and the screen cracks with static.

Phantom (final words before cutting off):

"Tell Vikrant his leash broke. I'm hunting Khan now. Not as Subject 2—

but as Phantom."

The screen cuts to black.

Pathan stares in silence, clenching his fist.

Pathan (to himself):

"This is going too far…"

Suddenly, another monitor lights up—Subject 6: Neural Lock Degrading…

Pathan's eyes widen.

Pathan:

"…No. Not him too."

Location: Village - Abandoned Well (Evening)

Khan sits by the old well, sketching plans in the dirt. Captain's voice echoes in his head.

Captain (mental link):

"Phantom's greatest strength isn't just power… it's his memory. He remembers everything from the lab. Including you."

Khan clutches his head.

Khan:

"Then tell me how to stop him."

Suddenly, the air around him shifts. Khan feels dizzy. Blackout.

---

Scene: Subconscious Mind – The Chamber

Khan awakens back in the black starlit void. Captain is ready, standing by a tactical table with holographic projections.

Captain:

"We train now. Phantom is coming for blood."

Khan sees the other chairs again. Shurya's is now cracked. Veer's flickers with sparks.

Khan gulps.

Khan:

"I'm not ready for Veer…"

Captain (firmly):

"Then let's make sure you don't need him."

The two dive into simulations, testing mental endurance, reaction time, pattern recognition.

---

Back in Reality – Nightfall

Suddenly, the village erupts in chaos.

An explosion rips through the hut Khan was staying in. Meera's family screams.

Phantom appears, tall, lean, monstrous. His skin pulses with black-veined energy. His voice is calm. Too calm.

Phantom:

"K-9. It's time to finish what they started."

Khan charges. The two clash, but Phantom overwhelms him with agility and psychological warfare. He whispers secrets into Khan's ears mid-fight.

Phantom:

"Do you know why they called me Subject 2? Because they perfected failure... with me. You? You were their afterthought."

Khan falters. Phantom throws him back.

Just then, a flash of blue light—Lucy arrives, firing shots to distract Phantom. She throws a flare.

Lucy (to Khan):

"Get up! You're not alone anymore!"

Khan's eyes flicker. Captain's presence rises.

Captain (inside Khan):

"Let's take this freak down."

Khan stands, posture shifting. His aura becomes colder. Sharper.

He dodges Phantom's next move and counters with precision. Together, Khan and Captain anticipate Phantom's moves.

Suddenly, Phantom retreats into shadows.

Phantom (smirking):

"This was only an opening act, K-9. The real performance begins soon."

He disappears.

---

Epilogue: The Deeper War

Pathan, watching through a drone, mutters under his breath.

Pathan:

"If Phantom succeeds… I lose Khan forever."

Just then, Dr. Vikrant's voice comes through the radio.

Dr. Vikrant:

"You were warned, Pathan. It's all breaking down now."

Pathan:

"Then it's time… to wake Veer."
