c61: Finality and Danger
The screen flickered then stabilized.
Solgaleo carried Chen Xiaoxiao in a Teleport Jump, warping space-time as they shifted 25 kilometers from their original location.
To avoid being detected, they kept their altitude high and trailed the targets at a long distance. Any closer, and they risked alerting a Champion-tier aura user.
"Solgaleo, how many individuals can you sense?" Chen Xiaoxiao asked quietly, crouched low against the warm metallic mane of the Legendary Pokémon.
"(Three humans. Two Pokémon at Elite-tier. One Pokémon with Champion-level aura. Their energy signatures include Dark and Ice types. Specific species unidentified. If I move closer, the Champion-class will likely detect us.)"
"Got it. We'll maintain distance," Chen Xiaoxiao replied. "Just shadow them for now. I want to know their destination."
Even as she gave the order, her mind raced through potential possibilities.
Champion-level combatant… plus two Elite-tier companions? That kind of formation isn't casual. Especially operating at night this smells like a covert mission.
They clearly know I've been stationed in Kenting for several days. If this were an official Huaxia League operation, someone like Leng Xin or Commander Duanmu would've notified me. The lack of communication… implies this isn't sanctioned.
So who were they? Rogue Huaxia trainers? International agents?
And more importantly what were they after?
Could it be… the Legendary Pokémon I've been tracking?
Dark-type. Ice-type.
That combination wasn't exactly rare, but it wasn't common either especially in high-tier teams. But if their objective was a Psychic-type Legendary…
Then bringing a Dark-type made perfect tactical sense.
The Ice-type, though that was the piece that didn't quite fit.
Unless… they're targeting something Psychic and Dragon-type?
Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes narrowed as she looked down at Solgaleo, whose pale silver mane rippled like solar winds beneath her.
There are only a few Legendary Pokémon that are both Psychic and Dragon.
Her own Solgaleo was a Psychic/Steel-type, so he was off the list.
The alternate form of Necrozma Ultra Necrozma was both Psychic and Dragon… but deploying a mere three-person team with one Champion wouldn't be enough to take on something that extreme.
No way. That's Ultra Beast-class. Not even the International League would approve a strike team that small for Necrozma. And as for Ultra Necrozma… unless they're suicidal, that's off the table.
That left…
Eternatus? No that's Poison/Dragon.
Her thoughts flicked back to another rare entry.
Latios and Latias? Psychic/Dragon, yes, but they wouldn't trigger this much manpower unless they were fusing or in crisis.
One other possibility surfaced.
A member of the Infinite Pokémon Lineage Legendary-class.
A chill crept down her spine.
Whatever they were after, it wasn't a regular mission.
Solgaleo kept soaring, tracking the group with extreme precision.
They had traveled far now hundreds of kilometers from the cozy holiday villa in Kenting. The moon overhead was high and sharp.
"Leo! (Xiaoxiao. They've stopped. Summoning Flying Pokémon. They're preparing to cross the sea.)"
Solgaleo's telepathy was clear, alert.
"Crossing the sea?"
Chen Xiaoxiao pulled out her Pokédex, tapped into the satellite mapping app, and zoomed out to locate their present coordinates. Then she followed the direction of their sea-crossing path.
Nothing.
There were no islands marked on the map where they were headed. No League-registered research stations, no wilderness zones, not even a Battle Frontier island.
But Chen Xiaoxiao's intuition buzzed with clarity.
Just because it's not on the Pokédex map… doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
She remembered the rumors of Mirage Islands, hidden facilities, entire labs cloaked from satellite view.
As the sea winds picked up and the group ahead vanished into the horizon, Chen Xiaoxiao's expression hardened.
Something was waiting beyond that ocean… and it wasn't listed in any official record.
"According to my current location, I'm at the southernmost edge of Treasure Island. Across the Sea of Past Life… that should correspond to a well-known rocky zone!"
Chen Xiaoxiao immediately opened her device and searched "Seven Star Rocks – Baodao" online. To her surprise, no information came up.
She switched to her internal prosecutor system map, a high-level encrypted interface usually capable of revealing blacklisted or classified locations.
Still nothing.
"Could it be that this place hasn't been officially discovered in this timeline?"
Chen Xiaoxiao's brows furrowed as she considered the possibility.
BOOM!
A thunderous roar echoed across the sea, shaking the air.
"(Xiaoxiao! I've found them! Two Pokémon both Psychic and Dragon types! Their life force is still strong, but fading.)"
Solgaleo's telepathic voice was urgent.
"So it's true…"
Two Psychic + Dragon Pokémon appearing together!
Her pulse quickened.
"(Xiaoxiao, you must decide quickly. They're outnumbered. One is Champion-level, the other Elite. But they're being attacked by one Champion-level and nine Elite-tier opponents!)"
Solgaleo's voice, though calm, carried clear tension rare for the Solar Lion.
Before Chen Xiaoxiao could respond
A voice not Solgaleo's sounded directly within her and Solgaleo's minds.
"Help us!"
!!!
There was no time to think.
"Solgaleo—Teleport!"
she commanded instantly.
The scene warped.
In the next moment, Chen Xiaoxiao and Solgaleo materialized on what appeared to be "Seven Star Rocks", a place she remembered clearly from her previous life. But unlike the small rock formation she recalled barely a few hundred square meters this version spanned over a thousand square meters, expanded and distorted by unknown forces.
There, in the clearing, she saw them
Two Legendary Pokémon.
Latios and Latias.
Both were bruised and bleeding, their elegant forms scratched and scorched. They hovered in the air, wings trembling with effort.
Above the tropical island, despite the typically warm climate, snow was falling.
It wasn't natural snow.
Hail.
A move induced by a Pokémon's weather ability, suppressing Fire-types and boosting Ice-types.
"Solgaleo Sunny Day!"
Chen Xiaoxiao ordered without hesitation.
The Solar Lion let out a deep roar. The sky pulsed golden. In an instant, the falling hail began to melt. The sky cleared. A miniature sun burned brightly above the battlefield, turning night into daylight.
Ice-types lost their advantage. The balance shifted.
"Who the hell?!"
One of the opposing trainers swore, clearly furious someone had intervened.
Multiple heads turned.
"Damn it! It's someone from the foot basin! That Zhi Ling witch is here to snatch the Legendaries from us!"
Hearing those words, Chen Xiaoxiao's face went cold.
So it was the Japanese team the same foreign faction that had previously tried to seize control of the Gyarados outbreak in Shantou.
"Tch… Prosecutor from Huaxia!"
Another trainer barked, spotting the gleaming Solgaleo beneath her.
They recognized her.
Even though photos of the Shantou incident were suppressed from public media, international intelligence circles circulated enough leaks. Powerful trainers from other countries were tracked. Categorized. Watched.
Especially someone like Chen Xiaoxiao an operative with an Ultra Beast-class mount.
Even under the banner of the Global League, the alliance between regions was only slightly stronger than the broken United Nations from her past life.
Every country still had its own agents.
"Aren't you worried about causing a diplomatic incident by acting so openly on our sovereign territory?"
Chen Xiaoxiao snapped back, raising her status and invoking jurisdiction.
"Tch! Yamada-kun, Honda-kun! You two finish off Latios and Latias. I'll handle her!"
One trainer gave the command and all hell broke loose.
"Weavile Ice Punch!
Bisharp Night Slash!
Houndoom directly attack the trainer!"
Three Pokémon were launched at once.
The air shimmered with speed and malice.
Weavile's claws glowed cold-blue, icy steam trailing behind them. Bisharp's arm-blades crackled with a wicked dark aura. Houndoom snarled, its crimson eyes fixed directly on Chen Xiaoxiao.
The Dark/Fire-type wasn't going for Solgaleo.
It was aiming at her.
"(Caution!)"
Latios and Latias cried out in warning as they dropped lower, unable to help.
Despite their injuries, they could still feel her heart. There was no malice in Chen Xiaoxiao only urgency and resolve.
They trusted her.
And now, she was under attack.
Chen Xiaoxiao's face turned icy.
"Solgaleo—Teleport. Directly above that trainer. Target: the one who gave the command!"
You want to attack a trainer directly?
Try it.
Her expression hardened into a sharp blade.
She would show them what happened when you raised a hand against a Huaxia prosecutor.
