Chapter 35 - "35: A One-Sided Battle"

Having narrowly dodged the attack, Verethragna was still catching his breath when he suddenly burst into roaring laughter.

"Hahaha! Yes! That's it! Exactly that!"

Rather than feeling fear in the face of mortal danger, he was thrilled.

After all, the reason he descended to the mortal realm in his Heretic  form was precisely to find an opponent worthy of defeating him.

And now, he had finally found that long-sought adversary.

An enemy who possessed overwhelming might.

What could be more exhilarating than this?

Even the clash he once had with Melqart hadn't stirred such passion within him.

"I don't know exactly what kind of power this is," he shouted, eyes gleaming as he gazed at the giant of light before him, "but as a foe to challenge—he's perfect!"

His fighting spirit surged like a storm.

In this moment, Verethragna completely cast aside any sense of superiority. He now viewed himself as the inferior, and placed Tiga—Su Mo's incarnation—as the superior being.

He wanted to challenge this Giant of Light.

Meanwhile, Su Mo had no intention of letting up. Being well aware of Verethragna's divine authorities, he had already anticipated the [Raptor] incarnation's speed-enhancement to dodge the first attack.

That was why he had prepared a follow-up.

The moment Verethragna evaded the blast, Su Mo crossed his arms, gathering energy once more, then extended them outward in a punch-like motion.

"Scatter beam Ray!"

Countless narrow blue beams—hundreds of them—suddenly materialized in front of Tiga.

They erupted like a shotgun blast.

The dense barrage of blue energy bolts rained down over the area where Verethragna stood.

Unlike the previous Rampart Beam, the Scatter beam Ray had less raw destructive power—but far broader coverage.

If the Rampart Beam relied on speed to ensure a direct hit, then the Scatter beam Ray relied on sheer area saturation.

Its purpose wasn't a one-hit kill—it was suppression. To lock the enemy in place and then finish them off with a more lethal strike.

That was Su Mo's plan: contain, then eliminate.

However, from Verethragna's perspective, this attack was no trivial threat.

While not fatal on impact, a direct hit would still result in severe injuries.

And this tightly packed, shotgun-like barrage of beams wasn't something he could simply dodge with the [Raptor] incarnation's speed. Even if he could avoid some, he couldn't dodge all of them.

So, Verethragna made his decision.

He would meet the attack head-on.

Without flinching or backing away, he began chanting a new verbal spell.

"For victory's sake—come forth to my side! O immortal sun, grant me your radiant steed! Swift-footed spirit horse, bring with you the Solar Disc that symbolizes your master!"

The [White Horse] incarnation—capable of transporting the sun itself—was invoked.

As his words echoed, a second sun appeared in the sky.

Blazing white horses carried the searing orb of flame, galloping straight toward the incoming Scatter beam Ray.

An incandescent sun—capable of triggering stellar-scale eruptions—collided with Su Mo's beam attack.

"BOOM—!!! BOOM—!!!"

Light clashed with solar fury.

In an instant, the entire city was flattened into a massive crater.

Smoke and flame engulfed the battlefield, rendering the scene invisible to any ordinary observer.

But for Tiga—Su Mo's eyes were unhindered. His gaze easily pierced through the dust and debris.

He saw everything happening beneath that newly-formed basin.

And so, three seconds later—before the dust had even begun to clear—a dark green-black shadow burst up from below.

It was the divine beast—the Wild Boar!

Boar Charge!

A thunderous roar echoed across the battlefield as a colossal wild boar, wreathed in blue-black flames, came hurtling forward. The beast's aura was several times more intense than before—it had clearly been enhanced by Verethragna.

"Raaaaghhhh—!"

The divine beast howled with fury, energy gathering in its maw as it launched a devastating shockwave straight at Tiga Ultraman. It looked like the beast intended to take Tiga down in a single blow.

But facing such a savage assault, Su Mo only smiled faintly.

He had already seen through Verethragna's plan.

The wild boar's frenzied charge was just a feint. The true killing move was Verethragna himself—hidden just behind the beast's shadow, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

However, Su Mo didn't reveal this awareness. After all, when the gap in strength was this wide, schemes and tactics mattered little. If Verethragna wanted to approach, Su Mo was more than willing to let him—so he could destroy him with a single decisive blow.

Meanwhile, Verethragna, concealed behind the wild boar, was trying his best to suppress his rising excitement and erase all traces of his presence.

Through the earlier exchanges, he'd come to a realization.

This giant of light, Tiga, had been using all sorts of ranged beam attacks—but had yet to display the physical prowess that giants were famed for.

That gave birth to a bold theory in Verethragna's mind.

What if this enemy—who was recklessly firing off beams as if they cost nothing—was actually heavily specialized? What if his body's strength was his weakness?

If that were the case, then there was a real chance at victory.

And so, Verethragna formed a plan.

He would use the wild boar to charge in as the vanguard, while he concealed himself behind. At the critical moment, he would get in close and unleash the power of the [Goat] incarnation—striking with a thunderous storm of lightning that would paralyze the enemy in a single blow.

Of course, this tactic carried great risk.

But given the vast disparity between their powers, there were no better options. A head-on clash was suicide. If he didn't even have the courage to take a desperate gamble—then he might as well give up any hope of victory.

With that thought in mind, Verethragna commanded the divine boar to rush forward, getting within striking range of Tiga Ultraman.

"Now!"

His eyes lit up. The moment had come. He began activating the [Goat] incarnation.

And at that very same moment—

"Now."

Su Mo also moved.

Tiga Palm Slash!

A sharp, devastating hand blade swung forth with unstoppable force. It cleaved through both the divine wild boar and the figure lurking behind it— Verethragna himself.

Under this godlike blow, even the sacred golden bodies of Buddhist saints would have been split in two—let alone Verethragna, who lacked any true defensive power.

The divine beast's form crumbled instantly, vanishing into nothing.

Verethragna's body was hurled to the ground, defeated in a single strike.

And in the final moment before his consciousness faded, only one thought echoed in his mind:

"This damned giant… why is even his physical strength so terrifying?!"
