Staring at the bleak, worn-down warehouse, Angel steadied herself before stepping out of the car. Taller than most women, her lean body was sculpted from hours in the gym. Her curves were modest, and the shape of her hips was something she secretly took pride in.
She was dressed in a blue long-sleeved shirt, the sleeves rolled up to her forearms, paired with black cargo jeans that allowed for both movement and style, and black sneakers—just in case a chase broke out. She walked briskly towards the nearest officer.
"What's the status?" Angel asked, stepping forward.
The officer turned quickly. "Detectives Angel and David, you're early—really early."
David, folding his arms, towered over the young officer with his 6'5" height and frame.
Wearing a black shirt with rolled-up sleeves, chinos, and brown Oxfords, he stared down at him."Are you gonna answer the question, or tell us the time?" David said, voice low and firm.
The officer straightened, clearing his throat. "We've surrounded the building. No one's left since we got here, but we haven't seen signs of activity inside."
Angel and David quickly glanced at each other. "How many snipers do we have, Officer...?" Angel glanced around.
"Officer Timothy, ma'am. We've got two snipers covering both entrances."
"And the SWAT boys?"
"They're over there," Officer Timothy replied, pointing toward a black van labeled SWAT, where the team was doing final checks on their gear.
"Good," Angel nodded. "Now tighten up the perimeter. We've got these bastards cornered—let's keep it that way."
Angel strode toward the SWAT van, David trailing behind her. Reaching the vehicle, she spotted the SWAT team captain Barry Mcqueen.
He was standing in full gear, his helmet casually gripped in his right hand. His rugged face, low-cut brown hair, and mustache—gave him that sharp look.
"If it isn't the Angel of Gloom and Despair," Barry greeted with a smirk. "To what do me and my men owe the honor?"
Angel shot him a cold look, clearly unamused. "I'm not in the mood, Barry. Why aren't we moving in?"
Barry raised a brow. "Nice to see you too. We're waiting for your boss. No green light",Barry said, his voice tinged with annoyance.
Angel turned to David. ""Lieutenant Barkley? Why hasn't he given the order?"
David shrugged, "I'm in the same boat as you are."
Barry cleared his throat. "He said we don't have enough intel. Things could go south, cost us lives."
Angel's jaw tightened in rage. "So where the fuck is he?"
"He said he's ten minutes out. Traffic. Wants to be on ground to asses the situation before giving green."
"Traffic? The fuck you mean traffic? I've bleed myself for a year on this case. And you're gonna tell me traffic will stop this?"
Barry looked her square in the eyes. "We go way back Angel but I'm not risking the lives of my men because you're pissed."
David grabbed her shoulder. " What if it's an ambush, and we lose our guys? It's your head Angel not Barkley's."
"If anything happens, I'll take the fall." Angel snapped. "These guys are going down tonight. To hell with procedure."
"Are you sure? If anything goes south, even he can't help you."
"So be it." Quickly turning to Barry. "We'll wait for five minutes, if Barkley doesn't show we go in. Deal?"
" We have a deal?", Barry nodded. "You heard the word, we have a briefing to attend."
Angel walked to her car, ducked in abs grabbed a megaphone and yelled into it. "This is the Grimford City Police Department. Come out with your hands up. This is your last warning."
"Five more minutes David and we're going in."
David kept silent, waiting in anticipation like angel was. He wanted to storm in and shoot each if those bastards himself, but there was a need to be cautious .
"Five minutes are up. "
"Let's go do our jobs."
David and Angel reached the quickly set-up command center, meeting a fully armed and ready SWAT Team.
Facing the officers, Angel stepped forward. "Alright, listen up,"we've been chasing these bastards for a year, this is the night we catch them. I need everyone focused, no mistakes ."
She eyed the team, then turned to the looming warehouse.
"Team One, you're on the front. Jenkins and Morris, you're taking point. David, you're with me—we're breaching from the back."
She turned to the others, sharp.
"Team Two, you're our backup. Sweep every window, every corner. No shadows. Snipers, hold overwatch. I want eyes on every damn movement inside. If it twitches, I want to know about it."
Barry, helmet still in hand, watched from the edge of the circle.
"Barry, your team backs me on breach. I'll lead entry—once we're inside, your boys take point. We're gonna need that firepower."
She made direct eye contact with each officer.
"One last time: Team One locks down the front. Team Two hits the back with me. Nobody moves till I give the word. No mistakes."
David stepped up, voice steady.
"We don't know what's waiting in there. Stick to the plan, keep your heads, and we don't lose anybody tonight."
Angel nodded.
"Don't shoot to kill unless shot at first , if you can shoot to disarm we need people to question."
"Any questions?"
Silence.
"Good. Let's take these assholes down."
