As the crimson rain began falling from above Myrae could only stare at the morbid scene before her.
Everywhere the droplets fell the world was transformed into horrific perversions of itself, buildings became almost living, the old shattered roads becoming paved pale white patches of moss.
The distant screams of people hummed through the air, only stopping to be replaced by voices that no human should ever hear.
Despite all this chaos and destruction, she was relieved, for this was the reason she was here at all, why she had spent over half a decade in this god forsaken hell.
All that pain, all that suffering, all for this.
To her it had been the most beautiful thing she had ever seen in her life
She knew what she needed to do, her heart was racing, she knew to accomplish her goals she needed strength above all overs, her mind filled with excitement, with every passing thought telling her to walk into the rain.
However something deep inside her resisted, pulling her away from these thoughts, she saw what happens when people aren't strong enough to resist, she had seen it many times before after all.
The rain grew heavy, the noise of the drops splashing against the ground were almost deafening. Drowning out all other noises from the world.
Myrae stared into the bloodied streets ahead of her, the messy cacophony of muscle and bone was the answer she knew she needed her only chance of fighting back... but she couldn't.
Myrae fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face. She couldn't do it. After years of waiting, enduring hellish conditions and subjecting herself to all forms of self deprivation just to survive, she couldn't make herself move into the rain.
She stayed there, watching the torrent and one of her own flooded down for face.
No matter how much she sacrificed to be here, it didn't matter, she couldn't bring herself to lose the one thing she still had, her humanity.
As Myrae sat there, unable to follow through with her goal, a creature was stalking her through the rain.
The creature had been human once, a vile man turned into a creature from the depths of hell, all that remained were two piercing emerald eyes, and a hunger left unsatisfied.
The creature had slowly made its way through the now breathing streets of the Scarfront, patches of ivory moss littered the floor growing hungrily to consume the very ground they lived on.
The creature's eyes wandered from house to house, looking for its first meal, the smell of living flesh permeated the air and the creature turned the streets before finally locking its eyes on a young woman, under a flimsy canopy of tendons.
Myrae had decided to wait out the storm, she didn't know what her life would look like after this, but anything would be better than this.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the faint noise of wet feet on carpet, she turned her head and saw it for the first time.
Before her was an almost insect-like creature, with long sharp claws of bone, drenched in bloody ichor, eight elongated legs which each stabbed into the ground, and a bloodied carapace of bone plates covering its surface.
Skin hung from the creature's flesh, bubbling and hissing as if dipped in acid.
This wasn't her first time seeing a bleed-spawn but it was her first time one had seen her.
Myrae's grey eyes met the emerald eyes of the creature, its mandibles clicked angry at her as it raised its body high preparing the lunge.
Despite this, she actually felt relieved, from the looks of it, she wouldn't have to worry about her future anymore.
She simply raised her head, and closed her eyes, waiting for the inevitable.
Soon her eyes shot open as a blinding pain reached into the left side of her chest, she could feel the sharp claws of the creature pierce her lung and heart as it reached its next arm forward, piercing the other side seconds layer.
Her breath tasted like metal as pools of blood moved up her throat and out of her mouth, the creature's claws moved outwards, carving away massive chunks of flesh.
The force of the attack launched Myrae into the bloody storm, she layed in the soft moss, feeling the warm drops hit against her broken body.
Time almost seemed to stand still, Myrae could feel it all, the pain, the gashes in her broken body and the mix of blood and bile leaking out of her, thinking back on her relatively short life, she couldn't help but smile.
For this day, would be the first step in saving those she still holds dear, if it wasn't for the abomination before her, she never would have taken the plunge.
Her body started to convulse, as the crimson sky leaked into her broken body, it felt like she was on fire, her body felt like it was twisting in unnatural ways, like her blood was made from acid and was burning her from the inside.
The creature looked at her as it approached slowly, hoping to savour its meal it looked over her twitching form with delight. It waited for several moments before driving its fanged maw into her neck.
Drinking her blood it felt invigorated, strong, like it had never eaten a day in its life before now, it savoured the taste of the warm liquid coursing down its throat, it pulled away before reaching its head into the sky and letting out a cheerful shrill.
As its head turned back down to take another bite, a large spike sliced at the creature's face, a deep groove was left in its carapace but it was otherwise uninjured, it stared at the monster before it.
Rising from the ground the twitching and still expanding form of a beast was climbing higher into the air.
Standing at almost two metres tall, the insectoid creature still needed to lock up, before it, a two and a half metre humanoid form stood before it.
It's skin was rubbery and almost transparent, clinging tightly over defined muscles, showing the different fibres underneath, the arms had stretched further than before, each finger impossibly stretched with a second blackened membrane of skin filling the gaps between the fingers with a singular spike protruding from where the fingers diverged.
The feet stretched into large claws of ivory bone, with three toes out front and two behind on each foot, ash-blonde hair covered most of the body, covering the most sensitive areas leaving only small patches on the arms, legs and torso exposed.
Large pointed ears extruded from either side twitching as the it's maw was widened with rows of sharp teeth ready to tear apart its prey on full display.
Finally was its singular eye, it spanned from one end of the face to another almost like a visor in a knight's helmet, the eye opened slowly showcasing a dazzling display of red, purple and pink colours all swirling within the iris of the beast.
The creature's stared at each other, neither willing to give ground, until finally the insectoid creature chirped its mandibles and hurried away.
Looking at the empty space in front of it, the beast dropped to its knees and convulsed, suddenly the mass of flesh broke apart leaving two forms in its wake, the first was the exposed form of a Lithe young woman with Ash-blonde hair.
Her body was trembling, the warm sensation of the bleeding sky pouring down on her skin, washing away the dust and grime making her feel ill until she suddenly coughed up bile, throwing up into the once white moss, taking time to compare herself.
Her body felt wrong in a way that went beyond reason, she didn't know what had exactly happened to her body just yet but she did know that she was unfortunately going to live a little bit longer, a shame really.
Looking around she noticed the world looked different, it was hard to put into words but it was like seeing the world over layed with itself, almost like putting on a pair of 3D glasses....almost.
Suddenly a noise from behind caught her attention, turning her head over her shoulder she saw a wiggling mass of flesh, bone and blood coming together to form one whole.
She watched the process in awe, despite the pain she was in, she was mesmerised by the scene infant of her, the wiggling mass slowly formed into a more Concrete shape, mass of flesh extending outwards, thin skins of membrane stretched between forming fingers small claws and teeth formed from the ivory bones as the blood congealed into small hairs covering its body, and it's face, posses an all encompassing maw, with rows of sharp teeth ready to rend flesh from the bone.
Myrae was lost for words as a sinister smile krept over her face, even though she dreamed of this moment for the past 6 years she never thought it would come true.
Before her, standing at a full metre tall was her familiar, a sign that she had truly become a Bleeder.
