Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Massacre... Again

A roar rang out:

"Kill!"

With that shout, the first colossal figure charged forward—hurling a punch like a cannon shell straight at Chiyu!

This strike not only carried the man's raw strength but also some portion of chakra.

Chiyu's mind flickered with realization: to deal with him, the prison wardens must have loosened these criminals' seals a bit, letting them use some chakra and strength. Not much, though—not enough to break out of prison, but in their minds, more than enough to finish off a "helpless" Chiyu when they believed him powerless and heavily outnumbered.

Boom—

A deafening crash echoed. In the darkness, even these hardened criminals, accustomed to slaughter, could only just make out Chiyu's silhouette. Hearing that explosion, many let out vicious laughs, assuming the blow had landed.

But the next moment…

"Gaaaahhh!"

A piercing scream of agony shattered the stillness of the Anbu prison.

"Wh-what's happening?!"

They recognized the voice—it was the brute who'd just attacked.

Crack!

A clear snap, bone breaking, then a series of cracks like firecrackers going off. The man's skeleton was pulverized piece by piece. He didn't even have time to keep screaming.

Chiyu had hurled a single punch, catching him right at the temple, destroying his skull in an instant. His body slammed into the solid stone floor, blood gushing, instantly lifeless.

Ding!

"H-how can this be?"

"What just happened?!"

"Our boss—?!"

"He's… dead?!"

In the darkness, the fourteen remaining savage criminals gawked at the sight, unable to fathom what had occurred.

Chiyu took a slow step forward, the blood-red glow of his Sharingan shining coldly like a ravenous beast's eyes, pinning them all in place.

"All of you…" he said calmly, "…must die."

"Sh-Sharingan?!"

"Why… how can he still use the Sharingan?!"

"This is bad—really bad!"

They didn't understand how, but all of them were the worst kind of scoundrels—like that Kirigakure spy from before. Each one a devil in human form.

"To hell with it—kill him!"

"It's him or us!"

"Charge!"

In a flash, more of the criminals lunged in. Though only partially unsealed, the power they unleashed was savage and ruthless. Indeed, they were far from ordinary ninjas; they were the worst of the worst, unrestrained by morality. Their assault was like a raging storm.

Chiyu gave a cold laugh. Under the flashing scarlet of his Sharingan, their attacks, which might overwhelm normal eyes, looked almost childish.

Bam!

Bam bam bam!

Fists hammered into flesh—blood for blood, tooth for tooth. If someone struck with a fist, Chiyu countered with a fist of his own. If they kicked, he lashed back with a destructive kick. Some among them had crude weapons—broken shuriken, rusty kunai, sharpened steel spikes—and they flailed these desperately at Chiyu's body.

Yet Chiyu slipped through their onslaught, weaving left and right with ease. Then, seizing an enemy's rusty kunai, he curled his lips into a cruel smile.

Zzzz…

Bzzz—

A piercing hum reverberated. Blinding arcs of electricity burst forth from his hand!

It was all the criminals' worst nightmare. Now that Chiyu held a weapon, this slaughter grew more unrestrained. Never had he felt such a rush. Every last one of these fiends deserved death, and here in the prison, there was no limit—he could kill them all.

Kill!

With the Sharingan's scarlet gleam dancing, lightning flared like a blade ripping apart the darkness. This was:

Lightning-Style Nintaijutsu…

Blade of False Darkness!

Splurt!

Splurt splurt splurt!

In an instant, a crimson arc flickered through the darkness, a crackling current carved past, and the first three criminals in line were severed in one stroke—blood sprayed wildly, and the wounds exploded under the fierce electric charge. Half of each body was blown apart, collapsing in a heap.

Chiyu didn't pause. Lightning carved through the dense shadows, snuffing out life after life.

Ding!

[You've successfully helped a criminal renounce evil. Blessed indeed! +80 Virtue Points!]

He paid no mind to the system's notifications ringing in his head. With each swing of his makeshift thunder blade, a criminal perished. Though just a rusty kunai, under the Blade of False Darkness, it might as well have been the sharpest sword.

"Aaaagh!" cries of anguish resonated through the gloom. Terror, retreat, panic, despair—weighed on the murderers. Initially confident in their partial power, they realized they were nothing in Chiyu's eyes.

Within moments, seven or eight evildoers lay dead. The rest were scared witless, all fighting spirit gone. But Chiyu wouldn't spare them.

"N-no, please!"

"Spare me! I—I'm an Iwagakure spy. The Tsuchikage promised to bail me out. If you let me live, the Tsuchikage will reward—gaaah!"

"Don't kill me! I'm a Konoha ninja myself—just accidentally killed a comrade on a mission and ended up here. My crime isn't—!"

Boom!

Chiyu ignored their pleas and cut them down. Sparks of lightning flared, flesh shredded. Even though their chakras were partially unsealed, they were powerless against Chiyu's unleashed might. They were but helpless lambs.

All of this happened in a flash, and only three stragglers remained. But by then, the Anbu wardens outside realized the commotion. Heavy footfalls pounded closer. Leading them—

Aburame Kenpei!

He was horrified at the carnage.

"What… what is this?!"

"Uchiha Chiyu… how do you still have power?!"

The Anbu guards behind him yelled, charging inside to stop Chiyu. But how could he pay them any mind? Another swift slash—and two more criminals lost their lives, leaving just one.

At the same time, four Anbu rushed up from behind, intending to tackle him.

They believed Chiyu had forcefully broken the seals, but surely not enough to recover his full strength—otherwise, why risk attacking now? That assumption gave them confidence to charge.

But that was just what Chiyu had banked on.

He'd only been using a fraction of his true power while slaughtering the criminals, deceiving the Anbu into thinking he was barely functioning.

Facing their assault, he smirked. Kenpei felt a sudden chill of dread.

"Careful!" he shouted.

Too late. Chiyu whirled around, blood-red Sharingan pinpointing each of the four's weaknesses, their flaws, their vital points. Then—

A single sword slash!

Lightning arced like a dragon's roar, a falling star, a bolt rending the sky.

All four Anbu simultaneously took the blow. Blood gushed, their bodies stunned. Before they could even recover—

Bang bang bang bang!

Lightning exploded in rapid bursts, shining brilliantly in the shadowy depths of the prison—its deafening roar echoing.

One strike, four kills. All dead.
