Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Crimes Punishable by Death...

One piece of intelligence after another spread like a web.

Chiyu discovered the truth…

Chiyu broke into the Anbu prison…

Chiyu emerged from the prison, covered in blood…

Chiyu headed for the Anbu's main stronghold…

Not only had Elder Hachidai at Police Force headquarters heard the news, but the Anbu who fled the prison also reported it to their captain, Sarutobi Shinnosuke. And of course—

They informed the Third Hokage of Konoha,

Sarutobi Hiruzen.

In the Hokage's office, Hiruzen and Shimura Danzō (concealed in the shadows) were visibly alarmed upon hearing the report.

"What?!

"This is outrageous… utterly outrageous!"

"That Uchiha Chiyu—he's completely uncontrollable!"

Danzō himself hadn't been involved in this particular incident, but from a brief summary, he could guess what had happened.

He let out a cold laugh. "So Shinnosuke was the one who framed his two subordinates and leveraged it to detain Uchiha Fugaku? Hmph. Seemed like a decent plan, but he's still too young…"

Sarutobi Hiruzen frowned coldly. "Danzō, say whatever it is you're thinking."

Danzō snorted. "If you don't uproot the weed, you're only letting the tiger return to its mountain. Shinnosuke set this trap, but he didn't immediately eliminate the two subordinates. He seized Uchiha Fugaku but didn't dare kill him either, just locked him up for interrogation. All that only stirs up the Uchiha's anger, inflaming their rebellious mood.

"Hiruzen, your son's exactly like you—hesitant and lacking a truly ruthless edge."

Already in a foul temper, Hiruzen was infuriated by Danzō's criticism.

"Danzō, I don't need your commentary!"

"You're too soft! If you'd given me free rein to handle the Uchiha from the start—"

"Enough, Danzō! Shut your mouth!"

Danzō went silent, face dark. Inwardly, he laughed coldly. After all, Sarutobi Nichio and his son, those dead Anbu—weren't they Hiruzen's people? If he and the Uchiha tore each other apart, would that not be the perfect chance for Shimura Danzō to take center stage?

He kept silent, while Hiruzen, after so many years working side by side, naturally guessed what Danzō was thinking. Yes, Hiruzen knew Danzō had always handled the village's "dirty work" with tacit permission—and knew just as well that Danzō was eager to replace him at any moment. Their relationship was too complicated for just a few words.

Kneeling in front of them, an Anbu agent trembled, not daring to speak a word.

Hiruzen exhaled a plume of smoke, letting it disperse inside the office.

"I'll go to the Anbu's main base myself."

"Yes, Lord Hokage!"

At this moment, all the major clans and top figures in Konoha had heard what Chiyu was doing. But as always, they chose to remain silent, waiting to see what would happen—like bystanders watching two tigers fight.

The Anbu's main base.

When Chiyu arrived in front of it, an entire squad of Anbu was already waiting, led by none other than Sarutobi Shinnosuke. He glared at the approaching Chiyu, fury blazing in his eyes like never before.

"Stop!"

His shout was like a thunderclap in the air.

Chiyu calmly pulled up and surveyed the scene—no fewer than twenty-three Anbu, each one an elite of the main base. Far stronger than the prison guards he'd faced before. With Shinnosuke, a high-level jōnin, at the helm, that force would be enough to wipe out a small nation.

Yet Chiyu stood alone, a single blade in hand, confronting most of the Anbu's fighting power without showing the slightest hint of backing down.

Shinnosuke roared, "You bastard, Uchiha Chiyu!

"What the hell did you do at the Anbu prison?!"

Chiyu gazed at him coolly.

"I only killed a few people."

"You— how many did you kill?!"

Chiyu paused as though genuinely counting:

"Two guards, seven main perpetrators, plus a spy from Kirigakure…

"That makes ten in total."

Shinnosuke's pupils constricted, and his entire body shook with rage.

"What?!

"You actually killed so many Anbu shinobi… You're out of your mind!

"We have nothing more to discuss—Anbu, kill him!"

"Yes, Captain!"

Chiyu gave a mirthless snort.

"Out of my mind? Not as insane as your Anbu, who retaliated against me for doing my duty, colluding with a Kirigakure spy to frame me. Did you think no one would see through it?

"Why did those so-called Anbu agents not wear masks?

"How did that 'captive' spy conveniently regain her chakra mid-beating and precisely ambush my subordinates?

"Sarutobi Shinnosuke, you should've foreseen these consequences when you stooped to dirty tricks."

Shinnosuke sneered, "Hmph, all lies! Where's your proof? Because from where I stand—"

Chiyu cut him off with a calm tone: "Proof? Indeed, I have none… Because your witnesses are all dead, down to the last one."

Shinnosuke trembled with anger. "Damn you! Then all you're doing is slandering the entire Anbu—killing Anbu shinobi for no reason! Your sins deserve death!"

"Sins deserving death, you say?"

In that instant, a fierce surge of chakra burst from Chiyu's body. His Sharingan glowed scarlet and cold.

"As the Anbu commander, colluding with foreign spies, scheming against your own village's shinobi… that's what really deserves to be purged!"

In the blink of an eye—

Chiyu unleashed all his chakra and ocular power in a furious wave. The blood-red Sharingan tomoe spun, and lightning crackled over the blade in his hand. He slashed viciously at Sarutobi Shinnosuke!

Shinnosuke was startled.

Faced with him plus dozens of elite Anbu, Chiyu still made the first move, no hesitation.

A madman indeed…

But Shinnosuke was no slouch. Though Chiyu's strike was shockingly powerful, Shinnosuke's own chakra rose to its peak as well. A razor-sharp sword appeared in his hand, surrounded by a gale-like swirl of chakra that maximized its cutting power.

Boom!!!

The two blades collided with a roar like thunder and raging wind, sending shockwaves of violent chakra that tore up the ground. Cracks spread in every direction, and the ground itself was scorched black by the surging lightning energy.

"Huh?"

Shinnosuke's eyes widened, startled by the unfamiliar power of Chiyu's technique—its might was fearsome beyond belief.

Crash!

In a single explosive clash, he lost on both skill and power, knocked violently backward until he crashed to the ground, leaving a deep crater behind.

"Captain!"

At once, cries of alarm rang out, and two or three dozen Anbu elites roared and lunged at Chiyu from every direction. Thus, yet another blood-soaked battle erupted!
