Chapter 26 - Chapter Twenty Six

Emmiel

The next day, I was woken up by Marie. I was surprised to see her in the house as Lopen had ordered everyone out yesterday but now that she was here, I owed her an apology for taking off like that.

"Marie, I.."

"Don't, lord Emmiel" She cuts me off. Her voice was so stern that I could tell she was angry. "You told me you were going to the pharmacy store downtown. You said you wouldn't do anything to get me in trouble yet look how that turned out"

Guilt washed over me. Even though I was taken by fear for a brief moment, I shouldn't have gotten Marie in trouble. "I'm sorry"

"Here is your suit" she says placing a tall, black suit bag on my bed. "Alpha Lopen wants you changed into it and down in the next twenty minutes. You're getting married today so please don't do anything to get me in trouble"

"I'm pregnant, Marie" I blurt out.

She stilled, looking at me wide-eyed. "What?"

"I found out I was pregnant that day after I got back from the pharmacy store" I paused, recounting the event. "I was so scared, I didn't know what to do"

"Lopen was certain to be angry when he finds out. I didn't know how else to deal with the situation at hand that time" I continued. "I admit, I panicked. I was scared, Marie. It was a selfish decision I made and I'm sorry you got to be at the receving end of my action"

Marie pulls me into her arms, wrapping me up in a warm embrace. "I had no idea. It's alright"

In her arms, I broke down in tears. Patting the back of my head, she inquires. "Hush now, Emmiel. You don't want the alpha hearing you cry on such a happy day now, do you?"

I shake my head, refraining from her. "I didn't mean to cry. It's just—"

"You don't have to explain anything to me" she clarifies. "I understand how you feel. Now wipe your tears and put a smile on your face"

Doing as Marie had instructed, she let me be to get ready. After freshening up and draping on the wedding suit, I moved down to join alpha Lopen.

He had his attention fixated on a paper in his hands. I didn't know if I should make him aware of my presence or not.

Clearing my throat, I softly say. "I'm ready, alpha"

Lopen doesn't tears his gaze away from the paper. "Is that so? Give me a minute"

A minute? He'd told Marie to get me ready in twenty minutes—to which, I'd kept to time— and now, he wanted me to wait for a minute longer.

I don't know how long exactly I'd stood for until my legs started to give out.

Finally, Lopen springs up from the couch closing his paper. "Now, let's go. How do you find the suit?"

The suit was tight. So tight I could barely breathe and the lining around it were loose. That could probably be because it was rushed.

"It's—"I clenched my fist as the suit pressed tighter against me. "It's perfect"

"I'm glad you like it because it's going to be a long day and you're going to be in that suit at least 8 hours"

At least? I struggled with a cough.

"Are you alright?" Lopen asks.

I nod. "Yes. Something was just stuck in my throat"

Lopen roughly pulls me closer to him. "Today is a very important day, Emmiel. The whole nation would be watching. If you have any trick up your sleeve, I advise you think twice before consenting to it"

Shivering in fear, I admit. "I'm not planing anything, Alpha Lopen"

Lopen sneered. "I'll be a fool to believe anything that comes out of your mouth. Davin!"

Davin appears, running up to Lopen. "Yes, Alpha?"

"Prepare my car"

"Understood"

Shortly after Davin exited the mansion, Lopen and I followed suite.

Climbing into the backseat of Lopen's car, Davin takes the driver seat as he kicks off to our destination.

On getting to the wedding venue, I wasn't expecting much guests but there were. Where had Lopen gathered all these people from?

I was certain that 90% of the guest gathered here were his enemies. People who'd crossed path with Lopen once and wanted to end him which also puts me at harm's way.

But my gun was tightly fastened underneath the back of suite. I knew how to pull the trigger now and I was willingly to go as far as I could to protect my baby; even if it meant shedding a few blood.

At the back of the crowd, my gaze caught sight of Kent, the head of the omega facility. What was he doing here?

Would Lopen see him and think I'd sent him? I know he'd called me and I'd considered his help but that was it. I didn't actually tell him I was all-in.

As we walked down the aisle— arm in hand—the guest stood up to their feets welcoming us with a resounding ovation and smiles on their faces. Fake smiles.

Unsettled, I flashed a smile right back. It was hard to look the guests in the eyes without thinking that one of them wanted to hurt me.

When we'd gotten to where the priest stood, he makes us recite our vows as he joins us as one.

"You may now kiss the bride"

Lopen pulls me towards him as he leans in closer for a kiss with his eyes partly opened. As soon as our lips touched, he slowly closes his eyes; cupping my face in his palm as he slowly begins to caress the side of my cheeks.

Just as I was about to get lost in the moment, a loud gunshot sound resounds in the venue hall as Lopen pushes me backwards instantly.

It takes me time to realize that Lopen had tried to save me from the gunshot as it had actually been aimed at me.

Who shot the fire? We didn't know but Lopen didn't stop at that.

The bullet had managed to graze the side of his arm's lightly and that made him angry. "I'm hungry. Is anyone else here hungry."

No response

The corners of Lopen's lips tilted up in a smirk. "Well that's too bad. Looks like I'm going to be the only one having a feast today"
