Zane stood with his arms crossed outside the glass room. His blue eyes caught in the transparent pane flashed a cold light. Thomas stood beside him, watching the monitors with cautious focus.
Only Zane, Thomas and Serein were inside the levo examination room. Until they knew exactly what Deimos had injected into Serein's levo, Zane did not want any information leaking that might spark public panic.
Serein lay on the levo scanner wearing a protective suit. White overhead lights struck her like a glare; she waited uneasily as the table slowly slid her into the machine.
The pain had eased, and she felt no immediate physical oddity. Still, somewhere in the dark corners of her mind a pair of red eyes watched every move and every word. Deimos was always there, lurking inside the flow.
And she hated, with every fiber of her being, the feeling of being controlled.
