Serein was lowered until her gaze met Deimos's. Without really thinking, she reached out and tugged one of his horns down, as if to check whether it was real or fake. His head tilted with the pull, his expression briefly stunned.
"It's real…" She murmured.
He blinked, seemingly surprised that she would even dare. "What do you think?"
"Haha…" A dry laugh slipped from her lips.
Deimos frowned, more puzzled than offended. "You're not afraid?"
"Oh, I am." She replied, her voice hovering somewhere between weariness and self-mockery. "Terrified, actually."
He narrowed his eyes at her. He had seen countless faces twisted by terror — some begging, some breaking — but never one that carried fear with such quiet composure.
