Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2:The Siege Has Begun

The siege raged on.

Red eyes, like hungry embers, darted through the gloom. They ran on all fours, low to the ground like wild beasts. Their speed was little more than that of a warhorse, but their sheer numbers and ravenous bloodlust made them terrifying. These were the Lesser Vampires—the lowest creatures in the immortal empire, devoid of intellect, driven only by primal instinct and an insatiable thirst for blood. Yet, even they were a nightmare for humanity. Wild, ravenous, and countless, they surged forward like a dark tsunami, threatening to swallow everything.

"ARCHERS! READY!" a cry thundered from the fortress walls, followed by the hiss of hundreds of bowstrings drawn taut. Hundreds of gleaming silver arrows pointed skyward, aimed at the blood-red horizon. "FIRE!" The command ripped through the air, and a rain of arrows descended.

Hundreds, thousands of silver arrows sliced through the wind, plunging into the charging army. Lesser Vampires were impaled through the chest, neck, head… they convulsed like broken puppets, then their bodies began to smoke and burst into flames, disintegrating into ash in mere seconds. But they didn't stop. In fact, those behind them trampled over the corpses of their comrades to press onward. They used the dead as shields, clawing at the stone, scaling the fortress walls like gigantic ants. Sharpened claws tore at every stone slab, fanged mouths hissed with bestial sounds.

The city walls—once thought to be an impenetrable fortress—were slowly being covered by the swarms of Lesser Vampires. Blood, ash, fire, and screams merged into a horrifying symphony of the apocalypse.

Behind the walls, colossal trebuchets were deployed. But instead of launching boulders, they hurled silver bombs—weapons forged specifically against Vampires.

BOOM!

When the bombs exploded, they didn't just unleash devastating force; they also released silver crystals into the air. Tiny silver particles spread like a dust storm, filling the battlefield.

The Lesser Vampires writhed, their bodies foaming and burning from within. Those who inhaled the silver immediately shrieked in agony, clawing at their throats, eyes rolling back as their bodies were incinerated from the inside out.

At the same time, mages on the wall raised their staves high, muttering incantations.

"Fireball!"

Giant fireballs erupted in the air, then plunged downwards, incinerating scores of Vampires attempting to scale the walls.

However… This was just the prelude.

These Lesser Vampires weren't the true force. The truly terrifying ones were still behind.

There was no hope.

Just as humans began to believe they had a chance, a shadow unexpectedly tore through the rain of arrows.

A Vampire leaped from the ground—he used the bodies of his kin as meat shields, digging sharp talons into the fortress wall and surging upward with terrifying speed.

He had wild, disheveled platinum hair, and his eyes blazed with a savage, insane bloodlust.

Archers on the wall immediately shifted their aim, silver arrows flying in unison.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

He dodged every one. One step—a slide to the left. Two steps—a duck. Three steps—a mid-air spin, gliding past each arrow like a nightmare wind!

Then, in a flash, he landed on the wall's edge.

A nearby mage recoiled in alarm, his incantation dying on his lips when…

CRUNCH!

He tore out the mage's throat with his bare hand, blood gushing like a burst pipe. The silver armor didn't save him—simply because he was too fast.

Nearby soldiers panicked, frantically raising their swords. But before they could react…

"SLICE! SLICE! SLICE!"

With a single swing of his arm, three warriors were ripped apart like shredded paper. Blood splattered everywhere.

"JACK THE BUTCHER!!!"

The Vampires below howled in exhilaration. His name—Jack the Butcher—echoed across the battlefield like a living nightmare.

And true to his name, he was a frenzied monster.

None of the nearby soldiers dared to advance. Some fled in terror, others froze in place.

Humanity's defensive line… began to crumble.

The soldiers on the wall had nowhere left to retreat. They knew—if this place fell, there would be no safe haven left in the world.

They weren't fighting for themselves. They fought for their families, for their loved ones, for the survival of humanity.

"KILL THEM!!!"

Silver swords flashed. Spears pierced. Fireballs continued to incinerate the monsters.

Lower-ranking Vampires shrieked in agony as their hearts were pierced, their heads severed, their bodies burned to ash. They too were dying.

But… This was the apocalypse. And the apocalypse held no miracles.

No matter how much humanity resisted, the truth remained brutal.

The weak would die. The strong would rule.

They weren't just facing Lesser Vampires anymore.

CRASH!

A terrifying sound ripped through the air as a massive shadow landed on the wall.

Jack the Butcher stood there, his silver hair whipping in the wind, his eyes burning with bloodlust.

And he was no longer alone.

Behind Jack, dozens of Elite Vampires surged forward.

They were unlike the bloodthirsty beasts below. They wore black armor, their eyes cold and sharp, moving with unimaginable speed and ruthlessness.

They were the true warriors of the Vampire Empire. Each possessed different abilities—some enhanced their muscles, others wielded various forms of magic…

They didn't scream. They advanced silently, and then… They began to slaughter.

Human warriors were torn apart like ragged cloth dolls.

Mages were pierced through the heart before they could even finish their incantations.

Silver arrows struck them, but didn't kill them—some ripped the arrows from their hearts and continued fighting as if nothing had happened.

Elite Vampires possessed superior regeneration, speed… and even Supernatural Abilities… Humanity's chances of victory were virtually nonexistent!

The sun? Where was it… Only a crimson hue remained, devouring the entire sky. That was the "Red Sky."

Humanity's front lines began to collapse in chunks.

But even in despair, they didn't give up.

Humans fought to their last breath.

They weren't just bloodsucking Vampires as we imagined… They were a powerful empire… The Species that sowed the seeds of the apocalypse upon humanity…

And welcome to the Post-Apocalypse.
