Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Hidden True Purpose

Silas looked up and saw Bart leaning against the wall, his face very pale, his body still trembling somewhat.

The corners of his mouth lifted slightly, revealing a very calm smile as he asked, "What's wrong, my friend? You don't look too good."

Bart's gaze dared not meet Silas's. He instinctively looked in other directions and asked cautiously, "Let me confirm first, are you still Silas Sotos right now?"

The smile on Silas's lips widened. He stood up calmly from the ground, spread his arms, and said, "Of course. If I'm not Silas Sotos, could I be someone else?"

Bart listened carefully to these words, analyzing every word and all the subtle nuances of tone and intonation.

After a dozen seconds of silence, Bart turned his head slightly and glanced at Silas. At that moment, he saw Silas looking at him with a smile.

After a careful observation, Bart's heart gradually calmed down.

Through the observation and analysis just now, Bart confirmed that Silas was still Silas. He was still a person, not some other existence.

"The hypnotist who attacked you is already dead," Bart said, walking over.

Silas nodded casually, his gaze falling on the head in Bart's hand.

"It seems you've obtained some important news."

Bart's strange flame possessed the effect of incinerating any life form. Now that it had incinerated the body but left only the head, it indicated a significant problem.

Successfully changing the subject, Bart's tone gradually relaxed as he explained, "Yes, I just used a special method to probe his memories and obtained their complete plan for the ritual."

Both of them deliberately avoided mentioning the incident just now, tacitly restoring the eerie and oppressive atmosphere to normal.

Hearing this, Silas was invigorated and immediately asked, "Quick, tell me!"

Bart immediately said, "The entire process of the plan is similar to what we conjectured. The location where they will hold the ritual is a farm on the north side of the city. A circus named Seine is stationed there."

"Wait!" Silas suddenly exclaimed.

"What's wrong?" Bart asked.

Silas's brow furrowed tightly. "Are you sure it's that place? A murder just happened there this morning. Master Jeros is stationed there right now."

"What!? A murder?" Bart was stunned upon hearing this.

Silas continued, "The deceased was also a mystical magician. We suspected at the time that it was the Green Flame Brotherhood who killed that magician."

"Impossible!" Bart immediately shook his head.

"Why?"

Bart's face looked somewhat unsightly. "From Nelson's memories, they have been deliberately keeping a low profile. They don't plan to launch any attacks before the ritual is activated. Because their goal is to sacrifice everyone in the farm and the circus. Not to mention they have no motive for action, there was absolutely no intention in Nelson's memories to kill that magician."

Silas immediately fell into deep thought. After a moment, he suddenly remembered the appearance of the magician's death.

Eyes gouged out, ears dug out, heart gouged out, and finally kneeling on the ground.

Such a scene reminded Silas of how the hypnotist had died just now.

Instantly, a flash of inspiration crossed Silas's mind: "Could it be that he wasn't killed by someone else, but committed suicide? Because he saw something he shouldn't have, fell into madness, just like the hypnotist? Kneeling on the ground, was he begging for forgiveness for something?"

As his thoughts reached this point, Silas became even more certain of this idea.

Silas looked up at Bart. "Help me deal with the matters here. See if there's anyone else in the museum. If any problems arise, use your connections to report it as a civilian. I need to find Master Jeros as soon as possible and report this matter to him!"

Bart nodded. "No problem. I'll have my carriage take you."

"No need. That would easily arouse suspicion," Silas said, preparing to run out.

Bart seemed to have thought of something and quickly reminded him, "By the way, there's an important piece of intelligence you need to know."

"What?"

Bart pondered for a moment, his mind instinctively recalling Silas's lofty tone just now, and said truthfully, "According to Nelson's memories, they seem to have been invited here by someone to hold the ritual. And the ultimate purpose of holding the ritual is not to summon the Primordial Flame."

"Then what is it for?" Silas asked curiously.

Not to summon the Primordial Flame? This completely baffled Silas.

Bart asked with a serious expression, "Have you heard of the Holy Grail?"

"Holy Grail? The omnipotent wish-granting machine?" Silas said instinctively.

Bart shook his head gravely. "The Holy Grail is the supreme Secret Treasure left over from ancient times. Legend has it that they are condensations of endless knowledge in a certain aspect. Each Holy Grail represents the limit and origin of a certain field."

Silas thought for a moment and asked, "What does the Primordial Flame have to do with the Holy Grail?"

"The legendary seven Holy Grails have long been hidden in the river of time and cannot be found. However, there are many clues and items related to these Holy Grails remaining in the world. These things are collectively called Grail Documents. According to Nelson's intelligence, a Grail Document is hidden in this city. Their purpose is to draw out the Grail Document here through the Primordial Flame."

Silas's brow furrowed tightly. "Is the Grail Document a living thing? Can it be drawn out?"

Bart explained, "A Grail Document can be anything in the world. It could be a book, a fly, or even a person. According to the ancient text The Three Eternal Nights Before Creation, Holy Grails are relics of ancient deities. They will attract and resonate with existences that possess the same nature as them. And the Primordial Flame, as the incarnation of my Lord, happens to possess such a nature."

Silas scratched his head; this matter was getting more and more complicated.

"You should go and inform them as soon as possible. I will also help you secretly on my end," Bart said.

Silas nodded and quickly ran out with the Husky.

"I didn't expect this; the waters here run really deep," Bart sighed deeply after seeing Silas leave.

"The Green Flame Brotherhood, the Apex Aether Research Institute, the Sorceress Sisterhood, and that mysterious informant. Someone is playing a game of chess, and it started from the Blood Moon Festival two years ago."

Bart hadn't revealed all the intelligence from Nelson's mind. Some things had to be kept reserved to maintain the upper hand.

"The person Silas mentioned should be someone from the Apex Aether Research Institute hidden in the circus. Then who killed him? Everyone desires the Grail Document. The three organizations should maintain a tacit understanding before the summoning is completed. Who is the one disrupting the situation?" Bart fell into deep thought.

The entire Seine Circus was an enterprise of the Green Flame Brotherhood. Nelson and the others knew the personnel within like the back of their hands. After all, these people were core offerings, and they had to have absolute control over them.

"Due to Jeros's intervention, the summoning plan will probably be postponed. Silas, what do you plan to do? Will you continue to use His power?"
