"Okay, everyone huddle up," Vaela commands, snapping her fingers and motioning her team toward the far corner.
The royal boardroom buzzes softly with low murmurs and the tapping of quills. The king leans back in his seat, one elegant brow raised as he watches the teams prepare. Venevra's squad steps off to the side for one last huddle.
Dressed to kill, each of them is decked out in sleek, sharp outfits. Vaela forms the circle. They all lean in as her eyes dart between them, sharp and focused, her lips curled in a faint smile that betrays nerves and anticipation in equal measure.
"Alright," she whispers, "we've got one shot at this."
Lilith sighs dramatically, "You always say that before we nail it."
Elsuana grins. "It's tradition."
Kai adjusts his cuffs. "No room for error. Let's be perfect."
