His eyes slid over to the door as it creaked open.
Kyan stepped in slowly, clutching his robe closer, heart pounding loud in his chest. "I… I just wanted to say—"
Nico cut him off with that same cold voice. "Say what you wanna say, softie. Then get out."
Kyan swallowed. "I'm sorry… my king. I didn't mean to return the chain. I was just… I was angry, and stupid, and—"
"You were dramatic," Nico muttered, stepping forward slowly, each word a little dagger. "You tossed it like it meant nothing. Guess that's your specialty, huh? Tossing things when they feel too real."
Kyan blinked, mouth open—but nothing came out.
Nico's eyes narrowed, voice lowering like a growl. "You think I give expensive chains to everyone? You think I sneak around balconies at night to kiss just anyone?"
Kyan's breath caught. "Nico, I—"
"No," Nico said, moving closer now. "You don't get to 'Nico' me. You don't get to look at me with those eyes after dancing with another man all night."
