Miguel faltered too, his watery aura flickering as the moisture in the air began to evaporate unnaturally fast. Steam hissed around his shoulders.
They both turned instinctively, their eyes drawn west—

Floating slightly above the scorched ground, her hair a blazing banner, her eyes burning orange. The earth around her cracked and hissed like boiling oil.
"She's awake…"
"She's burning up the battlefield," James muttered, grinning.
"And that heat—it's evaporating my domain." Miguel's eyes twitched, fists curling tight.
"She's disrupting my pressure zone..."
But it wasn't just fire they felt.
