March 23, 2013
It was Saturday.
Outside, the city pulsed like a tired machine. Cracked sidewalks. Buzzing power lines. Sirens fading in and out like the background music of someone else's life.
Inside my head? Back to few moments ago
"Tyler, where are you going?"
"Helping my little bro with his science project," I said casually, waving off Solarius and the others.
Which, of course, was a lie.
They were training. Sparring in Haven's underground gym. Laughing. Healing. Growing stronger under Solarius' warm, fake-perfect sunshine.
And me?
I was walking alone through a back alley with shadow in my coat and guilt in my bones.
(A villain needs a companion, right? Every tyrant king has a knight. Every demon has its hound. Even Voldemort had Bellatrix, and that chick was wild.)
So yeah. Crow needed a partner.
But not just anyone.
Someone real.
Someone broken.
Someone the world already tried to erase.
