Seraphina's POV
Without realizing it, I drifted off to sleep. Maybe I was exhausted… mentally, emotionally and physically.
Everything had been so hard lately, I didn't even realize how tired I was until I sat down here. My body just gave up—right there on the porch, under the dim light and light rain.
I didn't know how long I'd been asleep. But the sharp sound of a car horn jolted me awake.
My eyes flew open to see the headlights of a large black car pull up right in front of the porch. The engine cut off, and the door swung open with a click.
A tall figure stepped out, dressed in a deep maroon business suit that looked like it had seen a long and demanding day. He looked tense but his movements were quick.
Lucien, he was finally here.
But I… I couldn't bring myself to move.
My body felt heavy. My head was spinning a little, and the cold had seeped deep into my bones. Even lifting my arms felt so hard. My fingers were numb from holding onto the towel wrapped around me.
