Chapter 270: The Second Heaven-grade Soulblade Specter?
'Damn, how could my wife be this irresistibly sweet!'
Luo Wusheng felt the fire in his heart—which he thought would be dormant for at least two days—start to reignite.
Taken by surprise by his bold move, Ling Shuangxue resisted for a moment, only to then willingly open her lips.
Her soft, delicate pink tongue responded shyly, but soon it entwined with his, deepening their kiss.
They finally parted after a while, a silver thread connecting them as they drew back.
Each breathed a bit heavier, their eyes reflecting each other's flushed expressions.
Ling Shuangxue placed a gentle hand on Luo Wusheng's chest, feeling the rhythmic beat of his heart.
Perhaps…could this atmosphere lead to one more round?
The thought barely surfaced in Luo Wusheng's mind when he suddenly stopped. Ling Shuangxue quickly sensed his pause, a look of inquiry appearing in her gaze.
"The spatial tear in the secret realm that opened up earlier has now closed…not just the part we opened recently, but even the original rift is now gone as well," he murmured, frowning thoughtfully.
"Is there something amiss?" Ling Shuangxue's voice held a hint of tension.
But a large hand came to rest on her head, gently ruffling her hair.
"Don't worry; at the moment, it's only the two of us in this space," Luo Wusheng reassured her as he withdrew his hand, now standing. "Nothing has changed within the secret realm itself…if anything, the rift's closure has restored the realm's barriers, making it much harder for anyone to break in now."
"So, it's a good thing for us…"
Still, the sudden change left an uneasy feeling.
Of all times, it just happened to close right after he'd become half-master of this realm, and right as he'd taken a critical step forward and was now ready to leave.
"Perhaps there's something to see from outside. I'll go investigate."
"Alright…" Ling Shuangxue responded softly, lost in her own thoughts.
Luo Wusheng's figure disappeared.
He didn't summon his black broken sword, knowing that doing so would only worsen his already weary state. Anyway, with his current access, he could come and go freely.
After he left the secret realm, Ling Shuangxue lowered her head, hugging her knees as she gently placed her hands over her head.
…
Luo Wusheng reappeared in Daybreak Mountain, keeping his form slightly concealed.
The first thing he did was judge the time.
The sun seemed to have just risen, and it was a peaceful morning.
However, the time he defeated the Soulblade Specter should have been closer to noon...
The secret realm made it difficult to track time precisely—especially when he'd been too busy dual cultivating to even try.
But judging by the current light…a day? Maybe closer to two…
But come to think of it, he'd expected that Little Yuli would have sent word for him to head back to the capital after contacting her master. Yet, there'd been no message this whole time.
What could she be doing? As her in-law, the Demon Sect Holy Saint was genuinely concerned.
For now, though, he focused on his surroundings.
Daybreak Mountain felt unusually quiet.
By all rights, after the Soulblade Specter conflict, the area should be far from this empty.
Curious bystanders were always the most abundant people around.
Even his spiritual awareness could only pick up faint presences across the outskirts of Daybreak Mountain…
Luo Wusheng suddenly felt a strange sensation and looked toward a certain direction.
A figure emerged slowly from the void—it was someone he vaguely recognized.
"I suspected this might be the case. I hadn't expected you to stay here rather than heading to Jianlin City," the muscular man remarked, planting his greatsword firmly into the ground. He met Luo Wusheng's gaze. "Seems you've recovered… then, how about another duel?"
An intense, grounded aura radiated from him.
Luo Wusheng raised an eyebrow, puzzled. 'What's this guy's deal?'
They hadn't even exchanged more than a glance before he was ready to brawl.
'Did he really wait here on the off chance I'd appear?;
It sounded like the man had just been testing his luck, waiting around for a rematch and coincidentally spotted Luo Wusheng when he hadn't completely concealed himself. Which likely meant this man had no connection to the closure of the secret realm rift. Luo Wusheng's spiritual awareness also detected no explanation for the change from the outside.
"Jianlin City?" Luo Wusheng asked, thinking. 'That's the town close to Daybreak City, about the same size.'
The muscular swordsman's aura wavered at Luo Wusheng's apparent confusion.
"You don't know about the Heaven-grade Soulblade Specter that appeared outside Jianlin City?" he asked, seeing Luo Wusheng's furrowed brows.
After a brief pause, he nodded, apparently sensing Luo Wusheng's genuine surprise. "It seems you really don't know…"
"Half a day after you subdued the Soulblade Specter here at Daybreak Mountain, news broke that a Heaven-grade Soulblade Specter had emerged outside Jianlin City as well."
"The last three teams who had come to subdue the Soulblade Specter here have all gone there. Also, several Nascent Soul cultivators who were on their way here upon hearing about the Soulblade Specter at Daybreak Mountain also changed course for Jianlin City after hearing the latest news."
"Many thought you went there as well. Now that a day has passed, quite a few cultivators from Daybreak City have already headed to Jianlin City."
Luo Wusheng stood there, taking in this revelation. 'So, it really has been two days in the secret realm… Wait, another Heaven-grade Soulblade Specter appeared? And right outside Jianlin City, so close to Daybreak City?'
It explained why Daybreak Mountain, once the site of a heated battle, was now so peaceful—a new hotspot had taken its place.
He glanced at the muscular swordsman again.
"If that's the case, why haven't you gone? Weren't you originally here for the Heaven-grade Soulblade Specter as well?"
Since the other swordmasters had all left for Jianlin City, and Daybreak City's crowds had followed suit, why was he still here, waiting for Luo Wusheng?
Could it be that his "Dao Heart" would be incomplete unless they fought?
But the swordsman shook his head.
"Two Heaven-grade Soulblade Specters appearing so close in such a short time…after witnessing the one here, it's hard not to be suspicious about what might be behind it. And with so many Nascent Souls in Jianlin City—two or three rumored to be mid-stage—the odds of getting what we want are slim at best."
He lifted his greatsword slightly, pointing it at Luo Wusheng. "Since that's the case, I prefer to follow my true intention."
"Waiting here for you…is partly because of instinct. And if you happen to head to Jianlin City, I'd be able to catch up."
Luo Wusheng's eyes gleamed, and he nodded, a powerful aura rising from him.
"I see. Thank you for informing me," he said, and then…disappeared.
'Hmph, there's no way I'm wasting time sparring with some guy, 'Luo Wusheng thought to himself. 'Why bother, when I can spend time with my soft and fragrant Shuangxue? If I'm going to fight, it's only with my lovely wife!'
