Chapter 10 - New Blooms on Longer Days

After formulating my plan for evolution, I decided to head back to where I woke up so I could check on the colorful family I made. I hope they are all okay. I know that they have only been alive one day, but they were so cute, so it would be a bummer if they were dead because I was gone for so long. It would all be my fault, though, because I got a little too occupied and forgot about them. I also need to name them as a species. But wouldn't that only work if they could have their own children? Let's also make that a later problem. Maybe after I name myself, I can name their species after me, since I am like their creator and everything. * Don't get a god complex, it wouldn't suit you. * I decided to ignore system. I should just name them Karen or something. All they do is nag, nag, nag; rarely, if ever, there are compliments. *I'm sorry, I wasn't given to you to be nice, I was given to make sure that you survive. Sorry if you don't like the way I keep you alive. *

"I can understand that you want to keep me alive, but aside from that none of my questions, concerns, or ideas need to be criticized by you unless they are actually just downright terrible, and newsflash, they haven't been." I sigh and run my hands through my hair as I slowly start braiding a few loose strands as I walk alongside the river back to our safe area of the forest. * What's a news flash? * Unlike System, I don't get irritated or snappy at stupid questions, ESPECIALLY, if I know that someone doesn't know what I'm talking about or surprise, surprise, is from a different world. "A news flash basically is a way of saying if you didn't know, now you do or like information that should be apparent but isn't to someone. It all depends on how you use it. Right now, I'm using the latter." I keep braiding my hair. I hadn't noticed how soft my hair actually is, I wonder if hair is even the right term for it? It smells absolutely wonderful. Its sweet and floral like, but not too strong. It feels like some extremely soft animal fur, but like elongated. It's difficult to explain. It's also slightly sticky. Not to my hands, but it must be because unless Five has spun a web in my head, they have been stuck to my left side sleeping for a hot minute now. Or the fact that there is a branch suspended in the air by just one strand. Let me just get rid of that.

*I do not try to be rude; it's more so along the lines that the ideas you have are not the ones I would have had, at least I don't have them like that now. It's also my first time being someone's advisor, again, I think. I don't like not knowing what I used to do. * Hmm, they do have a point, maybe this means we should just be more open to each other's ideas. It would also help if they weren't in my head; that way, they would only know my ideas if I wanted to share them. Although it does help when in a pinch that I don't have to ask what to do because they already know. I guess there will always be pros and cons. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. I keep walking along the tree line, looking around me as I walk. The animals have calmed down a lot compared to earlier, although I do assume a lot of the comments describing a new being in the forest are about me. Some good, some bad. Some don't seem to care. But apparently, the pink squirrels here like the bananas I grew. I've heard them gasp and be scared to eat it then fight over who should have more. I must say though, unless I'm a lot smaller than I think I am, the bananas I grew are quite big, like I'm still full and I ate them what I assume one to two hours ago.

I wonder if time here is different than how it is back home. Also, I'm quite surprised I'm not tired of walking. If it has been two hours of me walking, I am 100% different than how I used to be. Like, don't get me wrong, I don't mind doing 1 mile, max 2, but after that I'm done walking unless it's a necessity. Now dancing though, that was my choice of cardio. "Boom pow ah ah ayyyyy!" I strike a few moves, do a twirl, lean against the tree, bringing my knees in and out while bobbing my head side to side, and fall to the ground laughing. * May I ask what that was?* I laugh even harder and roll on my back, kicking my feet. "I was dancing! I know you had to dance at least once in your past life. Well, I was dancing how we dance back home. Like my favorite one goes like this!" I step forward onto my right tippy toes twice, then do the same with my left, afterwards I cross behind and over my feet going left then right, repeating the same steps a bit slower and holding the crossover for a sec, then crossover one more time and spin. "I can't get enough of you!" I hum some more and do the footwork a few more times, and then lean back against the tree.

*I may have danced in my past life, but I guarantee that nothing we have in this world resembles that toe-steppy thing. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do something like that. What's it called? I stop and think for a second, humming to myself. The song is really catchy. "Back home, we call it trail ride dancing or line dancing, depending on where you're from and your ethnicity, but the dance itself is called "The Tamia," or that's what I've come to call it." Shrugging my shoulders, I get off the tree and see that I'm back in the area where I fought the snake. This means I'm almost home. Well, home is an overstatement, more like a familiar place. * Why does ethnicity matter? Is there hate among other races in your world too? * I keep walking and feel five stirring in my head. "I never thought about this world and if there would be racism here, going off your question, I'm going to assume there is. We have racism back home as well, but the dance differs and changes between ethnicities mainly due to being passed down from generation to generation, family to family. Like I learned from my grandma on my dad's side, who is African American. On my mom's side, which is Caucasian, my cousins learned from my aunt, and they do the dance differently than I do, and while I know both versions, I like the one from my grandma better. But that's my own opinion.

As I get closer, I hear tiny screams coming from my original clearing, and I listen a bit more before breaking out into a run. When I arrive, I see the most cinematic thing ever. My little beings have built what seems like a small village, and it looks like they are under attack by some ant-looking bugs. They have six legs but two pairs of antennae and while they have mandibles, they also have a tongue that they flick out, spitting dark slime balls forward. As I get closer, I come to a walking pace and watch in awe. The little ones use vines to block the slime balls, not very effectively, but still. They then use the same vines to pierce the bodies of the ants. I watch in awe as a group of 6 little ones work together and kill a bigger an- *Porgomyrnxes, that's what they are called. * The dark orange ant lookalikes, because that name is too long to remember, are coming out of the ground a little way into the forest. But it looks like they have it all under control. After they kill a porgo-thingy, one of them stays behind and absorbs the dead body like I do! "They have the same skills as me, that's incredible. I never thought that would happen!" I mean, it might make sense because I am their creator. Therefore, they are like tiny extensions of me and have some of my power. Maybe that makes them able to learn all the abilities I can learn!

Oh my gosh, I had a brilliant idea because I now realize how dumb I am. I need to evolve here! It's safer than the rest of the forest. I have plenty of tiny defenders, and they can probably help me create the defenses. * That's one of the best ideas you've had yet. Although I do recommend you help them out by killing all the ants, so we can speed the preparations up so you can start tomorrow. * I listen to System and begin walking towards the hole in the ground. A few of the Porgomyrnxes break off and come towards me. Luckily with the long walk back in the sunlight and the absorption of the doliage I'm pretty good on my stamina and magic preserves. Hmm maybe I should try and do new moves so that the little ones can learn something new too, I wonder how they know that I do something. Must be a link between us somehow. Another thing I will come back to later. I touch the ground with my hands and let vines and greenery grow over my hands and up to my elbow. The vines wrap around me completely and mold to my hands forming point at the end of each of my fingers. Who knew I could make gauntlets out of plants? I form spikes around my new weapon of choice. They aren't made of metal but I put a lot of thought into them, and they seem to reflect sunlight and shine just like any other gauntlets would. As I pull my hands from the ground I watch a few of my mini-me's do the same like me and touch the ground and make cute little gloves. "Awwwwwwwww."

I see them continue staring at me and realize they don't know how to use them. "Oh yeah let me show y'all!" Now by no means am I a fighter. I guarantee any and all that I didn't throw a single punch the correct way, no form, nothing. All I did was go in swinging and bashing stuff. What can I say I'm a lover not a fist fighter, but I guess we all gotta change at some point. I keep punching and bashing my way through the ants. It was really fun and exhilarating. The actual system let me know that I had reached max experience points and that they will be saved for when I evolve. I look over to my right and see that while some of the little ones use vines to hold the bugs still, the others come in with their tiny gauntlets that almost resemble biker gloves with points on them go in and start whooping ass on the ants. It's a much more brutal death than earlier. Maybe I should have chosen something a lot calmer or something for a quick death…. Nahhhh. Suffer! I laugh manically as I do an elbow drop on the ant closest to me. Complete with 2 pats to the elbow before I smashed through its head. I notice that the swarm of ants is getting smaller and wonder if they are almost out of troops. Before it can get the chance to get out of hand anymore, I run to the hole and use nearby tree roots and force them into the ground. I used my abilities to force and push them into every corridor, crevice, crack, home, nest, whatever it was that they lived in, I forced the roots into it.
