Chapter 46 - Chapter 7

Run, run until you reach the darkness that has been calling you.

I tie my hair up in a high ponytail. I turn to Caelith."We'll run to the other side. Make sure to stay near me." She nods in response. I run toward the other side of the forest. There are many trees—some big, some small. No animals are in sight. As I run, I scan the area around me. Caelith runs right behind me. The darkness is everywhere; only the moonlight leads our way through the shadows of the forest. I feel it. Something is watching us. It isn't Satan. The way Satan watches me is different. His gaze burns me from the outside and the inside.

But this gaze—it isn't from just one person. It feels like a cat staring at a mouse. Like a hunter watching their prey. I slow down. I look around. Caelith is gone. I was sure she was right behind me just a few seconds ago.

Something cold touches the soles of my bare feet. I slowly lower my gaze. A gasp escapes my mouth. My lips curl into a smile. Blue blood is flowing underneath me. The longer I look at it, the more blood comes. As it reaches my knees, the blood stops rising. Luckily, I'm wearing black shorts. But my oversized T-shirt is white. It's hard to walk. The blood feels sticky and thick against my skin.

After walking for a while, I see a dark figure a few miles ahead. The closer I get, the larger it becomes. When the figure becomes clear, it looks familiar—the black hair, the dominant brown eyes, the small, soft frame. It looks just like Scarlett, the girl who has been haunting my dreams. My heartbeat quickens. The smile fades from my face, replaced by a cold expression.

Himmikas Haunter's Trap—a curse used by fallen angels when they actually use their damn brains. They use it to slowly make their prey's will to live fade, making it easier to feed on their emotions. How does it work? The Himmikas Haunter's Trap shows the victim moments they've tried their hardest to forget—traumatic memories, or people they hate being happy with someone they love. Sometimes, it shows their beloved dying or abandoning them.

The moment I saw the blue blood flowing beneath me, I knew I fucked up. It's a sign the Himmikas Haunter's Trap has been cast. No matter what you do, you can't escape it—unless you die.

Good news? I don't care.Bad news? They won't have dinner tonight. They chose the wrong person.
