Chapter 299 - DULK: Chapter 299

Because of the sudden attack by the Khaos Brigade, the gathering of the Underworld's high-ranking members that had been planned was canceled.

And the important criminal who should have been under strict surveillance, Khaos Brigade member Toujou Kuroka, was not locked up in a prison cell. Instead, she was with Arthas.

According to Sirzechs, since Kuroka was Arthas's prisoner, the right to decide her fate lay in Arthas's hands.

"This is quite the disgrace." In the meeting room of the Devil Kings, the Vice Governor-General of the Fallen Angels, Shemhazai, spoke these words as soon as he arrived.

Azazel was sitting next to Shemhazai, thinking to himself, 'Enough is enough,' while sipping his tea.

As for Arthas, the person at the center of this incident, he was sitting at the meeting table, a place usually reserved for high-ranking members of the Fallen Angels, Angels, and Devils, a privilege granted to him due to the circumstances.

On the day of the Devil King's banquet, the devils were attacked by the 'Khaos Brigade'. To be precise, 'that was the end result' of what happened.

The SS-class Stray Devil Kuroka, who was wanted throughout the Underworld, used a familiar to infiltrate the banquet. No one would have expected that, right?

After that, she made contact with the Gremory family's soldier, Kuroka was captured, and the other two 'Khaos Brigade' members were repelled and escaped.

Although the situation was resolved with minimal damage, the fact that the enemy had infiltrated the venue would undoubtedly raise questions about the devils' vigilance among the other factions.

As could be seen now, Shemhazai from the Fallen Angel faction and the Seraphs from the Angel faction were extremely angry.

Shemhazai continued his report.

The opponents were the 'Sun Wukong' Bimei and the Nekoshimata 'Kuroka' from the 'Vali Team', an independent unit within the 'Khaos Brigade'.

Furthermore, the wielder of the Holy King Sword, Collbrande, was also involved. Three members, each possessing immense power… Not to mention the state of the outer perimeter, they even allowed the enemy's familiar to infiltrate the banquet.

Fortunately, it was discovered in time, or there could have been serious consequences. In any case, the security of the Devil faction is far too lax!

Arthas tapped his fingers on the table, lost in thought. Azazel wore an impatient expression. Shemhazai, despite being an excellent vice-governor, was a bit too long-winded.

Just as Arthas was about to fall asleep, Shemhazai suddenly mentioned his name.

"That is all the information I have. Regarding this matter, I hope that the Gremory family's soldier, Mr. Arthas, can clearly explain the details to everyone here."

"Huh? Specific details?"

Hearing Shemhazai say this, Arthas was slightly stunned. Then, he noticed that all eyes in the hall were focused on him.

"Well, there's not much to explain. This wasn't exactly an attack, but rather a silly older sister who missed her younger sister and came to see her. I believe everyone here is aware that the Nekoshimata 'Kuroka' and one of Rias's familiars, Koneko, are sisters, right?"

As Arthas said this, the people present nodded. Sirzechs was the one who had rescued Koneko, and the Fallen Angels had also obtained this information long ago. It wasn't exactly a closely guarded secret.

"So, the whole thing was just a visit from the cat sister to the cat sister. There wasn't really any intention to launch an attack."

"No intention to attack? According to what I know, there was a battle, right? And judging from the scale of the battle, it wasn't small, and there was also a powerful barrier that blocked all detection, so much so that even the two Devil Kings on the devil side didn't notice the intruders at first."

The Vice Governor-General of the Fallen Angels, Shemhazai, pointed this out sternly after Arthas had finished speaking.

"Hmm… the scale of the battle, huh?"

Arthas stroked his chin thoughtfully. Aside from the ice walls that he had created, Kuroka and the others hadn't left much of a trace, right?

It was true that the range of that last ice wall was a little exaggerated.

"It was just a slight adjustment to the relationship between the sisters. Even though they hadn't seen each other for so long, and were clearly missing each other terribly, they still had to put on a tough front and act like they didn't care. I was just trying to mediate a bit, that's all."

"Please be mindful of the fact that Kuroka is an SS-class Stray Devil, a highly dangerous individual!"

"Oh? And what if she is?"

Arthas raised an eyebrow slightly, retorting without backing down to the Fallen Angel Vice Governor-General, who had a stern expression on his face.

The atmosphere in the meeting room suddenly became awkward. Azazel watched his subordinate's discomfited expression with amusement, while Sirzechs and Serafall wore somewhat helpless expressions.

Clearly, Arthas had made it clear that he was going to protect Kuroka. After all, she was Koneko's sister, and he couldn't just treat Kuroka as a criminal. If he did that, Koneko would definitely be heartbroken.

Sirzechs and Serafall exchanged knowing glances, deciding to let Arthas do as he pleased. But the Fallen Angels didn't know that.

Azazel had caught on to the meaning behind Arthas's words, but the somewhat rigid Shemhazai still hadn't realized it.

Just as Azazel was about to make a witty remark about his subordinate, a strong, aged voice echoed from outside the door.

"Hmph. Don't you young people even know how to greet an old man anymore?"

Suddenly, an old man with an eye patch, wearing an ancient hat, appeared in the doorway. His white beard nearly reached the floor, and he was clad in a simple robe, carrying a staff in his hand.

"Odin?" Azazel called out the old man's name, prompting Arthas to take a closer look at the unremarkable old man.

A god from a pantheon outside of the Three Great Powers, the Norse chief god Odin, had entered the room, accompanied by a Valkyrie.

"Oh oh, long time no see, you bumpkin old man from the north." Azazel said with a rude tone. Odin stroked his beard in response.

"Long time no see, you mischievous little Fallen Angel. Seeing people who have been enemies for so long getting along so well… are you planning some kind of trick again?"

"Hmph! I'm not some backwater god bound by ancient dogma. A young man like me has a flexible mind, you know. I value personal growth more than tiresome animosity."

"That's just the spirit of stray dogs gathering together because they're weak. In the end, it's just a gathering of little brats who have lost their gods and Devil Kings."

"This old guy called Odin is unbelievably arrogant, isn't he?"

Hearing the old man's words, Arthas shook his head slightly, muttering this with amusement. However, it seemed that the old man had very sharp ears. Although Arthas's voice wasn't loud, he still heard it.

Where did you come from, you little brat? I don't recall seeing you at the last meeting. Are youngsters with no respect for their elders even allowed to attend these high-level meetings these days?

What a pathetic game these little brats are playing. Have you become this miserable now that you've lost the leadership of your Devil Kings?

Looking at Arthas, Odin sighed with an expression that said he was disappointed in him.
