Chapter 13 - USJ

[Days After the Simulated Combat – Special Class Routine]

The rising sun crawled over the U.A. buildings, gilding the campus with a soft light. The Special Class gathered early — always before the others, always more intensely. The victory against 1-B had lifted morale, but it also brought expectations. We had to prove, day after day, that it wasn't just luck.

06:00 – Morning run.

Nejire floated around us like an energetic butterfly, while Mirio ran with a smile like it was easy. Tamaki, of course, grumbled, but never fell behind.

I ran at the front, keeping the pace. Not out of pride — but because, when I run, I think. And thinking helps me stay in control.

07:30 – Breakfast at the cafeteria.

Tamaki made a point of studying the nutritional composition of everything he ate.

"Roots, huh ?" Nejire commented, giving a teasing smile. "Maybe that's why you always seem kind of... rooted."

He blushed, as always.

Mirio laughed way too loud.

I laughe as i observed. There was something comforting about all this — this normalcy.

09:00 – Tactical Analysis Class with Aizawa-sensei.

Aizawa entered the room like a silent storm.

"Nice win. But nice wins build confidence. And too much confidence kills."

He made us review every second of the battle, pause, repeat, critique.

"Revan, your landing against Masaru. Unnecessary weight. Were you trying to make an impact, or intimidate?"

"Both."

He only raised an eyebrow.

"Then next time, save your energy. What impresses also drains."

14:00 – Individual training.

Mirio practiced phasing through high-speed obstacles.

Nejire tested new spiral patterns, trying to find wave resonance to bypass defenses.

Tamaki was stuck in a dilemma: if he ate electric squid, his tentacle got unstable.

And me... I was measuring my limits. Testing temperatures. Controlling flight distance. Recording with precision the activation time of my enhanced senses.

[Weekend – Outing to Musutafu]

"Shopping ?" Nejire asked, spinning around me like I was a lamppost.

"Don't you guys ever get tired ?" I asked, but I already knew the answer.

Mirio replied for her: "The mind needs rest so it doesn't collapse, partner !"

Tamaki just sighed. But he came. He always came.

We walked the streets of Musutafu like normal teenagers.

We laughed. Ate ice cream. Nejire tried on absurd sunglasses. Mirio got stuck in a photo booth with three kids. Tamaki lost his composure when a group of fans mistook him for a pop idol.

[USJ – Rescue Training]

Location: Natural Disaster Zone – Earthquake Simulation

The van stopped in front of USJ's metallic dome. Inside, extreme scenario simulations awaited us — from floods to landslides. It was time to learn how to save lives, not shine in battle.

Thirteen greeted us with enthusiasm, wearing her pristine white suit.

"Today, we'll work on evacuation, containment, and first aid. No fighting. No confrontations. Just saving lives."

Aizawa, beside her, added:

"Power without responsibility is destruction. This is to remind you why heroes exist."

We were split into pairs:

Revan and Tamaki – Urban Collapse Zone

Mirio and Nejire – Chemical Fire Zone

Other classmates were assigned to simulations of flooding, aerial rescue, and structural collapse.

[Urban Collapse Zone – Revan & Tamaki]

The area simulated a neighborhood devastated by an earthquake: fallen buildings, smoke, alarms blaring, and holographic victims calling for help.

Tamaki scanned the environment cautiously.

"There are signs of life beneath the collapsed school. But the paths are blocked."

I stepped forward, activating x-ray vision.

"There was a collapse in the gym. Three victims trapped underground, still conscious. I can't just smash through — unstable concrete above."

Tamaki nodded.

"Then we carve a path carefully."

While he used his tentacles and mutant roots to stabilize structures, I slid through the debris with precision. One wrong move could trigger another collapse.

I located the holographic survivors: a boy, a teacher, and an injured elderly man.

"It's okay. We're here to get you out."

With controlled strength, I removed beams and slabs as if they were paper — without breaking anything around. Tamaki created a living support structure with tentacles hard as wood.

We got them out safely.

"Simulation completed successfully. Evaluation: A+," the system's voice said.

Tamaki sighed in relief.

"Thanks to you."

I shook my head and smiled.

"Thanks to us."

[Chemical Fire Zone – Mirio & Nejire]

Meanwhile, on the other side of the dome, Mirio carried victims on his shoulders and leaped through simulated explosions.

"Let's go, let's go ! The evac has to be done in under five minutes! "

Nejire used her spiral waves to extinguish fires and ventilate contaminated areas.

"Phew ! This is hotter than chemistry class with Cementoss !"

They evacuated everyone in time, complete with a final joke from Mirio to a digital old lady:

"Sorry for the scare, hologram ma'am. Your birthday cake is still intact !"

[USJ – Simulation 2: Flood Zone – Water Rescue]

Pair: Me and Nejire

As soon as the gates opened, water flooded the simulation violently. In seconds, the scene turned into a submerged city. Realistic currents, floating cars, unstable poles. All calculated to test our ability to think fast, act precisely... and save lives.

Nejire rose into the air with her vibrant spirals, her hair floating like waves.

"There, Revan ! A school bus at the flooded intersection !"

I focused my telescopic vision.

"Right. At least seven... no, eight victims. All holographic, but reacting like real civilians. The roof's collapsing. Too much force, and the bus sinks. Too little, and they won't get out in time."

I dove without hesitation. The wind cut my face as I flew low over the water, controlling every centimeter of my movement. I gripped the metal frame carefully, peeling off damaged panels like opening an envelope — delicate but firm.

Nejire created spirals of wind around the structure, stabilizing the current.

"Go, go, go !"

One by one, I pulled out the passengers and carried them to a safe rooftop. I couldn't mess up. One wrong calculation, and that thing would become a metal coffin.

Mission accomplished.

The synthetic voice echoed from the speakers:

"Rescue completed with 100% efficiency. Record time."

I landed beside Nejire. We were soaked, breathless, but filled with that relief that only comes from doing the right thing.

She laughed.

"You're like... a steel lifeguard."

I smiled softly.

"And you handled the water better than many Pro Heroes would."

"Spirals of pride !"

Her laughter was contagious. For a moment, I forgot it was just training.

[USJ – Simulation 3: Collapsed Tunnel – Search and Rescue]

Trio: Me, Tamaki, and Nejire

The next mission was even harder. A derailed train inside a tunnel. Lights out. Communication cut. Victims trapped in tight corridors, unstable debris everywhere.

The darkness didn't bother me. I activated x-ray vision and began mapping the environment.

"There are cracks all over the ceiling. If we move anything without thinking, it all collapses. The third car is tilted — two holographic people trapped inside. One with a crushed leg."

Tamaki breathed deeply. Nervous, as usual.

"I can anchor to the sides... use squid arms to brace the walls while you remove the ceiling."

"Good idea."

With a gesture, I descended and, with measured strength, lifted the piece of fuselage blocking the exit. Nejire lit the space with controlled energy spirals, slowly heating the structure to ease removal.

No rush. No empty heroics.

Just focus.

When we got the simulated victims out, Tamaki leaned against the wall, sweating.

"We did it…"

I just nodded.

"Not bad for a collapsed tunnel."

[USJ – Simulation 4: Chemical Fire Zone – Containment and Evacuation]

Pair: Mirio and me

Fire. Toxic gas. Collapsing structures. The simulation activated full alert sirens. The mission was simple: evacuate civilians and contain the spreading fire. But nothing here was easy.

Mirio ran ahead, entering buildings and shouting to the simulated civilians.

"It's gonna be okay ! Trust me !"

He was pure energy.

Me ? I went straight for containment.

With a freezing breath, I cooled entire walls. I used thermal vision to locate dangerous hotspots. Even used super strength to open an access corridor, diverting a collapse that would've blocked the evac.

Mirio emerged from the smoke carrying two rescue mannequins.

"All clear back there !"

"Good. Now just the last hotspot left. I activated the fire suppression system."

Water poured from the ceiling like heavy rain. The fire went out.

"Simulation ended. Evacuation efficiency: 97%. Fire hotspot successfully neutralized."

[Return to USJ Base – End of Simulations]

We returned to the starting point. The sirens ceased. Silence returned. One by one, the teams arrived — tired, dirty, but smiling.

Thirteen awaited us.

"You're ready for more than you think. Today you showed it's not just about fighting — it's about saving. You saved lives."

Aizawa crossed his arms.

"Each of you was impressive. Revan, your precision and control were on a professional level."

I just took a deep breath.

Not out of pride. But because I knew that every action today… was real.

Mirio touched my shoulder.

"Do you realize how much that inspires us ?"

I shook my head.

"I don't do it to inspire. I do it because it's the right thing."

Tamaki murmured:

"Even being so strong... you never act like you're better than us."

I answered honestly:

"I'd never feel whole without you guys. We're a team. That's what matters."

Nejire spun in the air with her hands raised:

"Spectacular ! Spiraled ! Emotional !"

And I just looked at them.

These faces. These hearts. These friends.

It had been a long time since I felt this way.
