Chapter 6 - Chapter 6- the red haired girl

Hours later, I'd gotten no closer to finding the human Luna that man talked about.

Kaison said it was unknown to mate with a human, and from what I'd learnt from eavesdropping, it was really disgraceful. So why was Kaison going along with it? I read that you could have more than one mate in a lifetime, so why didn't he just let me go and find another willing subject to go along with this charade?

Why me? The question went through my head again. I liked my looks, although I was a bit plain looking compared to the gorgeous werewolf ladies I'd seen. I wasn't definetly a white wolf that had magical, mystical nature healing powers. And apparently I wasn't the only human mate an Alpha had had before.

I took the next book off my pile; The ancient art of healing. The tiny gurgle of water behind me and the stream of soft sunlight pouring in, this place was ethereal. I could stay here forever.

"Knock, knock." She said, yet still came in. The library was big and resonated every word said, but I didn't need to be close to hear what she said. She was loud in every sense of the word. Her hair and lips were fiery red, and she was clad in a beautiful green dress with a slit on her thigh. She looked beautiful, and dangerous at the same time.

Her skin was a bronzed golden, her eyes lined with kohl and her fiery red hair cascading down her back. She smiled at me like she was the predator and I was the prey, and she'd gotten me right where she wanted me. In her trap. I didn't know whether to feel awed or terrified.

I was immediately on guard. "Hello."

She gave a deep sigh. "This used to be my favorite place too when I was a kid. I used to sit right there," She pointed to where I sat, walking even closer. "You're pretty."

That was abrupt. "Thank you." I didn't know what to say to this being. It was painfully obvious we were different species of beings, you couldn't even pull up a comparison of the both of us. I had a feeling she wasn't here for chatting so I stood up. Better chance of getting a few punches in if I was standing up.

"What are you reading?" She trotted over to my side and peered over my shoulder. "Healing. It's been a while since we had one of those. Do you know the legend of the white wolf?"

I nodded. "Legend?"

"Well, some people claim it's true. I don't buy it however. You know what they say about seeing and believing."

"I do." And the odd thing about it was that I did. Something deep in me just told me that this was real. Although she was the werewolf.

She moved faster then I could blink, and she was hugging me. "I think we're going to be great friends."

I didn't even know what to do. It's not everyday a random stranger comes up to you and hugs you. Before I could say anything, a deep voice intoned from the doorway. "Clarisse, leave her alone. Drop it."

It was Kaison. He was in a black shirt that accentuated his muscles. He was scowling, no surprise there, and he was walking towards us at a brisk pace. Clarisse sighed and pulled back, and only then did I realize she was holding a long silver knife.

"Were you just about to stab me?" In the back?

Clarisse rolled her eyes like me questioning her was spoiling her fun. She turned to Kaison. "Is this what you're seriously going to marry, Kaison? I could've killed her and no one would have known."

Kaison said. "Don't lay a hand on her, Clarisse."

And it pleased me to see the completely shocked look on her face. I tried to hide my smile as Clarisse spluttered. "Alpha, look at her. She's puny and ugly and —"

"Clarisse!" Kaison growled. "That's enough. Although she isn't necessarily my first choice—"

"I'm right here!"

He ignored me. "—Amara is to be my wife, and your future Luna so I demand you treat her with some respect."

Clarisse turned her heated gaze towards me. Her green eyes simmered with unkempt rage and I realized she wasn't the kind of person who accepted no easily. She was going to make my life a living hell, but I already had multiple werewolves out for my blood so what was one more?

I glared at her back until she stopped fuming and started—smiling? That didn't seem good. "Of course." She said, sugary sweet. "Well, I'll see you later, Alpha."

As she was leaving, she trailed several fingers across Kaison's chest all while giving me that innocent smile. I wasn't a violent person by nature but I wanted to scrape her eyes out.

Kaison looked at me when the door closed behind her. "She was the daughter of my father's Beta. Don't pay no mind to her, she just wants attention."

"Placing a knife at my back is definitely attention seeking." I murmured, not at all agreeing with with him. She wanted to kill me, and if he hadn't walked in when he did, she would've. But part of me thought he already knew that.

"Are you enjoying your reading?"

"Yes, thank you."

"Good."

The conversation came to a dead end. I exchanged more words with Elion and he wasn't even the one I was getting married to.

Kaison's dark blue eyes settled on me. Again, he had no expression on his face, just one of mild irritation. "I thought you were told to stay in here, Amara."

I realized he was talking about when I accidentally eavesdropped on his conversation with his counsel members. "I don't know what you're talking about." Deny, deny, deny.

"Don't play dumb with me. I can tell when you're lying, I can literally feel what you're feeling."

I frowned. "That's not fair, you know. You're like this wall of no emotions and I can barely tell if you're angry or just scowling. So stop climbing into my head."

"You humans and your exaggerations."

"I'm exaggerating?" My voice rose in several octaves. "You locked in this castle and demanded I marry you! And I'm the one exaggerating." I scoffed.

"I really thought you had gotten over that." Kaison said and I didn't even want to deem him with an answer. He was so thickheaded I was certain I would frustate myself to death. "You aren't mate, Amara and as much as I try to fight it, you are. We're getting married."

He was standing there, so stoically. He believed in his words, and I didn't think anything would dissuade him at this point.

"Fine." I said and smiled at the startled look that came on his face for a few seconds, before it vanished. He definitely expected me to continue fighting. "Yes, even if you didn't ask me to marry you. That's one thing we'll have to work on: manners."

Kaison scowled. I continued hurridly, so he wouldn't interrupt. "I'll marry you but I can't be locked up. I won't leave but once in a while I want to go back to my world. And you can't go around bossing me and growling like you normally do."

Kaison narrowed his eyes at me. "Is that all?"

"I would also appreciate it if I wasn't threatened by Clarisse any more. I'm not a fan of being murdered where I stand."

"Of course." Kaison said, seemingly upset by what I just said. "I won't let anyone kill you, Amara. I'm not as cruel a person as you think I am."

I didn't believe that. He was keeping me here against my will, which was known as kidnapping in my world no matter how well you sugarcoated it. Yes he was handsome in a way that made me want to thank the God that sculpted him but it was still a felon.

I nodded anyway, no point arguing with myself because that was the way arguing with Kaison felt. "Right, so when's this glorious wedding taking place?"

Kaison shifted, his hands coming to rest in front of him. He had a slight frown on his face, I could tell he picked up on the sarcastic tone in my words. And he felt as excited as I was. "Tomorrow night."
