"Even though we're abroad, both of you are Chinese, so I'm sure you understand the saying 'uninvited guests are not welcome,'" Crystal Foster's tone suddenly turned stern. She looked up at the two people across from her, her eyes filled with unmistakable disgust and resentment.
These two were clearly here to probe her identity. Since that was the case, she saw no reason to be polite.
"Sylvia, we mean no harm. I've been friends with Philip Allen for many years and watched Kenneth grow up. I heard that back home, you often took care of Kenneth, and we are truly grateful for that. Today's meal is just a way to express our thanks," Lincoln quickly explained, noticing Crystal's displeasure.
But Crystal saw right through his intentions and had no desire for further interaction.
"There's no need for thanks. We're not that kind of people. I took care of Kenneth because he's friends with my son. I never intended to use this to gain anything from you."
