Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

"Oh, if I explain, would you believe me?"

Kurohane felt a bit awkward, after all, this situation wasn't in his planned scenario. But the system's nature couldn't be explained, so Kurohane decided to admit that he was a pervert. Even if his character was ruined, it didn't matter, because he wasn't working under the Ancient One!

"Stop explaining, it'll save your brain cells the effort of searching for excuses!" The Ancient One smiled and tossed the Space Ring in her hand to Kurohane. "How about it? Want to learn magic with me?"

An owl entering the house means nothing good. A weasel visiting a chicken on New Year's is not with good intentions! This strongest person on the entire Earth is trying to dig a pit for me, what should I do?

"I am not an owl, nor a weasel." The Ancient One's facial expression was truly remarkable; she turned to look at Kurohane. "Nor do I intend to dig a pit for you. I simply want to find the best replacement for myself."

I don't like chatting with important people like you who can read minds! No privacy at all!

"I can't read minds either."

Kurohane's face instantly changed. Even with the unique system in his hand, everything remained the same. This feeling of powerlessness at the moment was truly awful!

"Honestly, if you want to find a successor, you should look for someone named Stephen Strange." Kurohane decided to give the Ancient One a little surprise, using [Telepathy] to protect his own brain. "He will become the greatest of all Sorcerers Supreme."

"That was before you appeared." The Ancient One's palm pressed hard towards Kurohane's body, and Kurohane's entire soul was slapped out by this palm. Kurohane's body seemed to lose all support, and with a "thud," it fell limply to the ground. His soul floated helplessly in the air, struggling awkwardly for a moment. And then instinctively used the [Telepathy] ability to return to his body!

The Ancient One looked surprised. Kurohane was also surprised.

Kurohane sat on the ground, staring at the Ancient One, scratching his head a little awkwardly. "Uh, did I mess up my chance? How about you slap me again?"

"No, this is where you are stronger than Stephen Strange. Your starting point is much higher than his!" The Ancient One nodded with a smile, then pointed her finger at Kurohane's head. "This unique ability of yours allows you to find yourself in the endless Multiverse. You will not get lost in those realms at all. This is the most valuable quality for becoming a Sorcerer Supreme."

The Ancient One rummaged through her pocket, pulled out a Sling Ring from within, then handed it to Kurohane. She chanted a spell that Kurohane didn't understand at all, yet this spell seemed to be imprinted in Kurohane's mind. Even if he didn't understand what the incantation said, he could understand its meaning. This was the portal spell that every sorcerer in Kamar-Taj had to learn as a beginner, and it was also the most important skill for sorcerers. In a sense, it was also through this method that energy from other Multiverses was stolen. It could be considered the starting point and source of all magic, equivalent to the most basic mathematical formula!

"Since you come from another plane, I won't explain too many functions of the Sling Ring. We are currently in the Mirror Dimension and I plan to accompany you here. If you want to leave, draw the portal yourself!"

After the Ancient One finished speaking, her entire self vanished as if she had passed through a mirror. In the vast space, only Kurohane remained, with a bewildered expression, and an ancient Sling Ring in his hand!

Kurohane was stunned. "This isn't right, is it? How about you just throw me to the Himalayas! Even the summit of Mount Everest would be fine! With a physique this strong, I can definitely run back to civilization! Whatever happens, I'm a loyal fan of Bear Grylls, survival in the wild won't be a problem for me! But now... there are only two paths. Either destroy the Mirror Dimension, or learn the portal spell and draw a circle to get out of here!"

Kurohane let out a long sigh, then skillfully put the Sling Ring on his left hand. He began to try and comprehend the spell in his mind, but he was surprised to find, he didn't need to understand, he could simply grasp its meaning. It was as easy as opening his mouth to eat!

Kurohane still couldn't believe he was actually so talented. Imagining the Ancient One's appearance in his mind, he raised two fingers wearing the Sling Ring, and drew a circle in the air with his right hand. A circle of sparks appeared and then expanded rapidly in a short time.

The Ancient One was sitting cross-legged on a cushion in a secret room, holding a teacup, with another cushion placed in front of her. Kurohane shrugged and stepped into the portal.

He sat on the cushion opposite the Ancient One, feeling a little helpless, and said: "Can I have a beer?"

"Of course!"

The Ancient One nodded with a smile, and a full cup of beer appeared in Kurohane's hand. Just like when Thor first met Stephen Strange and gave him beer, it was a useful life spell.

"Now do you understand why I value you so much?"

Kurohane didn't answer, he just chugged the beer in the cup in one gulp. However, he found that his serum-enhanced body couldn't get drunk at all. Let alone a glass of beer, even drinking a glass of pure alcohol would have no effect whatsoever!

"I understand, but I don't want to be the Sorcerer Supreme of Kamar-Taj. Can we discuss this? A barbarian like me isn't suited for a sorcerer's job."

"No, precisely because you are a barbarian, you are very well-suited for a job like ours!" The Ancient One pointed to the other side of the secret room, where various magical artifacts were placed on shelves. "Swords, spears, long poles, axes, hooks, forks, halberds, clubs, whips, maces, hammers, claws... The sorcerers of Kamar-Taj use different staves from ordinary sorcerers!"

Kurohane sighed. "If you put it that way, it makes sense!"

"And I will say something that might hurt your self-esteem. It is precisely because your 'scientific' educational level is not high," the Ancient One continued, "That you can grasp the science of the magical world more quickly. This is what Buddhists call 'the barrier of knowledge'!"

The Ancient One's words were indeed quite painful, but Kurohane was already used to it. He couldn't understand the high-tech items Tony made, but he could directly comprehend the magic the Ancient One taught him!

"In other words, you are the sacred body of a mystic sorcerer. Sooner or later, the position of Sorcerer Supreme will be yours!" The Ancient One raised the teacup in her hand towards Kurohane, then said with a smile: "I will give you time to consider this matter. Once you figure it out, you yourself will come to me. I will wait for you in Kamar-Taj until you are willing to become the Sorcerer Supreme!"
