Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Listen Issei... Amano Yuuma exists.

Gorou could have easily dodged Issei's strike, but...

'Damn, Miki might get hurt.'

But his wife's presence beside him limited his choices or range of options.

Quickly, he moved his wife behind him and deflected Issei's punch.

All of this happened extremely smoothly, thanks to his new superhuman agility.

"H... how?"

For the current Issei, who had always benefited from sudden increased strength every night.

The current situation disturbed him, but his anger allowed him to snap out of his confused state.

He quickly regained his balance after suffering the imbalance caused by Gorou before facing him again.

'I haven't done any tests on my physical strength yet, but it seems I have good reflexes.'

Gorou estimated that he was at a level beyond the peak of an ordinary athletic human.

It's not as high as a properly trained low-rank devil, or an artificial human like Freed Sellzen.

However, it's enough against a low-rank devil without real supernatural education.

As Issei tried to throw another punch, Gorou grabbed his shoulder before throwing him to the ground.

A simple throwing technique, roughly imitating a judo practitioner.

'I need to learn real martial arts, since Stanford Pines always relied on his intellect and experience.'

Another thing to add to his very long list.

Bam

The table collapsed.

Unfortunately, this wasn't enough against the supernatural teenager.

Issei tried to get up, only to be stopped by Miki.

"What are you doing, mom!!! That guy was holding you perversely!"

"Shut up, that's your father."

Miki immediately scolded him.

"What?!"

Issei tilted his head with a confused expression as he observed the man young enough to be his older brother.

"You're really disappointing, son. Attacking your father..."

Gorou let out an exaggerated sigh but still helped his son get up.

"H... how... w... why?"

Issei's shocked and confused face was a funny sight, but Gorou sat him in an armchair to explain.

"Listen Issei... Amano Yuuma exists."

He didn't beat around the bush but went straight to the main subject.

'This woman is one of the elements, or the triggering element, that caused the entire DxD story.'

Yes, Rias potentially already had her sights on his son.

This hypothesis from a DxD fan in his past life isn't stupid or unfounded, since a simple fallen one like Raynare was able to detect the Sacred Gear.

There's also the flyer Issei received at the right moment, but that doesn't matter to Gorou.

'With me here, Issei will choose clearly and won't be entirely affected by Rias Gremory's breasts.'

After these words, Gorou observed Issei Hyoudou's facial expression carefully.

He wanted to know whether or not he had already talked to Rias Gremory without the accident with Raynare's subordinate, alias Dohnaseek.

Gorou can't rely entirely on the timeline since his arrival in this reality.

Especially since the time interval between the fallen angel Raynare's attack and Rias's rescue against Dohnaseek isn't mentioned in detail in the light novel.

This is also why Gorou has been unable to help Issei properly during these weeks.

He just made sure of his biological situation but also took DNA samples.

"... I... impossible, you mentioned back then that..."

Gorou interrupted Issei before he could make a scene and prevent him from explaining the situation.

"I know what I said back then... sorry, but that was before this."

Gorou pulled out his bolt before giving Issei a demonstration.

Maybe it was because of the strange energy emitted by the device, but the young man had a frightened expression.

As if he was facing something absolutely unpleasant that reminded him of a dark memory.

'I forget he died once because of Holy Power.'

Issei's instincts must have activated when faced with his bolt, which was created to imitate angelic power through a scientific path.

"You see? You're not the only one who had... a supernatural situation," he said, walking toward the living room.

Issei remained for a moment observing before finally following him.

"You mentioned 'back then,' that means... you know Yuuma Amano now?"

Gorou nodded but preferred to avoid discussing this subject with the current Issei.

'As expected, mentioning that bitch was effective in convincing him about the supernatural, and my little demonstration was the finishing touch.'

However, Gorou can't talk about the girl nicknamed Yuuma Amano or Raynare.

It's just not the time, and this woman occupied his son's mind for a long time during the original story. Gorou doesn't want that to repeat this time.

"W... why?" he mumbled, looking at Gorou.

The atmosphere became tense again between father and son, but this didn't disturb Gorou.

Because he knew that Yuuma had been a taboo subject even for Rias.

"You're not ready yet to stand before this woman."

Gorou simply declared the cruel truth, but Issei couldn't face this because of his emotional state.

"WHY!!!"

Under emotion, Issei grabbed Gorou by the shoulders.

Miki was alarmed, but Gorou reassured her with a calm and gentle look.

"Give me a month..."

"Huh?!"

Issei was surprised by his father's sudden words. But the latter continued his remarks without waiting for him to fully regain his lucidity.

"I authorize you to see this girl again in a month, but if you don't meet the minimum criteria... I'll kill her myself."

"Honey!!"

Miki glared at Gorou, but he didn't back down.

'Raynare is too dangerous for Issei's mental state... and she touched my son, so she must pay.'

He's not the original Gorou, but the man's feelings persist in him.

Remembering the scene of Issei in tears holding Asia Argento's lifeless body in the church only increased his anger.

This is also one of the major reasons that prevented him from joining Grigori even though he could have gained a lot from Azazel and they have a similar view about women.

For Gorou, that guy and Michael are failures in managing their subordinates.

"Ok... I accept."

"Good, now can you listen to me without interrupting?"

Issei nodded silently.

Despite his agreement, his real thoughts seemed obscured by the idea of seeing again the fallen woman who changed his life for better or worse.

"I was saying, Yuuma Amano exists..."

Gorou began to explain about the Sacred Gear and the reason that pushed his fake girlfriend to...

Bam

"Honey, we need to kill this woman!!"

"Mom!!"

At the mention of Issei's death, Miki exploded with rage.

She seemed clearly reluctant about Gorou's declaration to kill his son's imaginary ex-girlfriend, but the information about Issei's death changed everything.

"I already have an agreement with Issei, and our son still seems to love this woman."

"But..."

Miki wanted to argue further, but Gorou just pointed to Issei beside them.

The boy seemed bewildered, lost, frustrated, and sad.

However, there was a certain will in his dead fish eyes.

"A... alright, you're the only one involved anyway," she said in a lonely and sad tone.

Gorou smiled slightly before embracing her lightly.

"Despite my situation with Issei, you're still in our world... aren't you?"

Miki didn't respond but just sank deeper into his embrace.

A scene that seemed to slightly delight Issei.

"So, do you understand, son? You and I have an object or came into contact with an object coveted by supernatural creatures... A Sacred Gear."

Yes, Gorou doesn't plan to present or talk about the system.

He'll just attribute his new intelligence to a Sacred Gear that he awakened or that made him intelligent.

Who's going to contradict him?

'Even Azazel, who's an expert on the subject, can't know everything about Sacred Gears.'

Issei's case is extremely common in the supernatural world, since many Sacred Gear possessors died before using their Sacred Gear.

This explains the lack of complete information about Sacred Gears, and the Biblical God's death doesn't help, since Michael doesn't have absolute control over the system.

He can barely make it function properly, but there are too many bugs due to his incompetence.

Thus, Gorou's plan is simple and effective.

"I understand better now all the weird things that happen to me every night... it's because of the Sacred Gear?"

Gorou refuted Issei's words.

Of course, Issei was confused by this response from his father.

"I'm telling you that you were dead at the hands of the fallen one... right?"

Issei nodded but still seemed uncomfortable about the subject.

"During that moment, you surely had in your possession a flyer belonging to a devil, and she sensed your desires... she reincarnated you into something else... her slave."

Silence filled the room.
