Ling Yan pushed open the cellar door and tiptoed to Wang Quan's side.
"National Preceptor."
Ling Yan leaned down and called his name softly, as if afraid of startling him.
But even Ling Yan's soft call made Wang Quan, who was in a dazed half-sleep, jolt.
"It's you?"
"Shh." Ling Yan made a silencing gesture to Wang Quan.
"I'm here to save the National Preceptor."
Wang Quan widened his only right eye, his face full of disbelief.
Ling Yan smirked. "As the National Preceptor sees, all the death soldiers sent by the Celestial Master have been killed by Mu Yuan. I barely escaped. If I don't do something to gain his trust, how can I complete the Celestial Master's mission?"
Wang Quan opened his mouth, seemingly considering whether Ling Yan's words were true or false.
