Nina stepped into the house and let out an exaggerated sigh, tossing her bag toward the side of the hallway without bothering to aim.
"I'm home. And before anyone asks, yes, work has absolutely destroyed me today. Utterly and completely beaten. My poor back is a battlefield."
She announced to no one in particular, dragging her feet with theatrical slowness.
She glanced around, expecting at least some sort of reply or acknowledgment. But the living room was empty.
"Huh. Not even a 'welcome home,' huh? I risk my life, do heroic things, and not a single standing ovation? Nothing?"
She muttered, deflating a little.
Her Patron's voice echoed dryly in her mind.
[Maybe you are busy. Not everything is about you…for the most part.]
"No need to bash me like that. You could at least pretend to be supportive."
She muttered, pouting as she kicked off her shoes and headed for the kitchen.
