With each step towards the designated location, Layla felt the anxious build-up within her escalate. It is precisely one conversation away from achieving everything this night demanded. The silence of the night, heavy with Karams impending doom as she was only thirty steps away from Kamal, felt like the countdown towards her awaited revelation. Sure getting the information is just a talk away, but would killing him trade one empire for the other worth the cost?
If anything Maya had the potential to provide for all the gaps crucial to the formation of Kamal's puzzle. With only Gramps and Pascal dominating the empire, she would fit right into the details of how it was once functional. Her association with Kamal provided all the intel. Able to set free from a narcissistic loser, albeit the mysterious circumstances she was drawn in, let her free a few months ago, was ideal situational freedom.
All she lacked after complexity was paradoxฬ the why reason she tried to divert Kamals empire through indirect means was beyond Layla's understanding.
With caution, Layla neared the building. It was a decrepit warehouse on the outskirts of town, situated in an old part of the city that wasn't well-known to people. The type of location where deals were made in private and where secrets could be harbored. She had set up a meeting with Maya—no witnesses, no questions, nothing untoward. The gamble was incredible, but for Layla the choice was inevitable. It was a risk she had to take. She had to believe that Maya was truly as disappointed with Kamal as she had been led to believe.
The entrance was in sight, and worrying thoughts started creeping in. No amount of preparation could set her off the edge. She prepped for months, but the sheer gravity of the situation was sinking in now more than anything. Doing nothing was no longer a choice. Kamal was a dead man. The only issue was Maya had to be ready to take all the blame for it. Layla could feel her breath tight and her heart racing by the second.
The cold night air hung heavy as the sound of smacking echoed with every knock. For a brief moment, she was left wondering if Maya had opted out at the last second, only for her worries to evaporate the moment the door started to open, revealing the figure resting beside the entrance. Maya had a sharp look, coupled tall frame, however, the expression on her face softened as sadness broke through, sadness that one could faintly carry alongside Layla herself.
I have laid out my defense of violation of law and when it will be provoked if occurs.
With these very parapgraphs I have my wooden notebook with pages of sheets of paper, ensuring everything was up for graceful use.
Maya did not seem shocked to see her in the last case. Actually, her feelings looked borderline delighted which tell a rather interesting story.
I have no more tips for overseeing Kamal. Helping yourself to the materials required should not be as simple. In fine details, it was cleverly placed there with portions of telling one snowballing to another. Raven project is going to change everything in terms of telling someone what to do or take the other way around.
The only things embellishing these aching walls is a few shelves cluttered witf files and disorganized documents. Literally every inch in the room is empty save the wall. These shelves literally define the term devoid while other claim exists at all in paper and documents.
"You've been snooping around haven't you?" Maya's voice was filled with almost adoring awe. "I heard you've been making all sorts of progress. But you don't know what you're truly dealing with. Kamal is more than a living, breathing human. He has constructed an entire infrastructure, a body of people who are all intertwined. If you believe you can get rid of him without being ensnared in the chaos, you are mistaken."
"I am aware of the consequences," Layla answered while drawing on her raven-shaded eyes brimming with fierce hope. "But it is something that needs to be done. My shattered remains of a family and father's legacy is something Kamal has devastated. Until he is eliminated, I will not rest."
Surprisingly enough, Maya was still looking at her for far longer than was required, as if estimating Layla's determination. Then, Maya gave a tentative nod. "You're not the first person to have this fantasy — all of it. But the truth is he is not able to be touched. What you really need to know is the man is a living god and the Raven Project is only the visible part of the iceberg. What you are trying to fight deals with is far too economical to fathom."
"Maya," Layla's heart raced as she heard all the words that truly struck the chords at once. "What do you mean?"
Killing Kamal is a given for everyone MK had circle around him. Now maya just needed a reason and after a deep inhale she said what was needed to be stated bluntly. "It's more than money or raw power, prepare yourself for the real shock, but the raven project has been in control of industries, undermining government, and the implementation of the destiny of countries — yes plural, not a single state. The people he works in conjunction with boil down to not just business conjoined persons, but business associates who are global players."
By exposing him, you won't just be dismantling a single man's life, but demolishing an entire structure. Trust me, this is something you are not prepared for.
Maya's words made sense to Layla. She had always suspected that Kamal's empire was enormous, but now it literally spans the entire globe. An empire made by a single businessman is single-handedly influencing the world's most crucial layers, including: economy, politics, and human existence. Chilling.
"Systems do not matter to me, Maya," Layla remarked, rather decisively. "What matters to me is taking him down using any means necessary."
Maya gave her a short glance, and there was a shadow of something—was it remorse?—that slipped behind her gaze. "You're deeply disoriented. But I guess it's too late for me to do anything, right?" She exhaled and walked to the drawer where she grabbed a certain disk. "You wish to know all? Here. But realize that there is no return from this journey," she warned.
Taking the file, Layla's confidence emerged as there were names, people who had allied with Kamal and were crucial to his empire's operations. ``This is getting easier than I thought,`` she said while focusing on the documents. However, scanning the fragments forced Layla to surrender her breath. Because one name was profoundly recognizable; Aidan Rayyan.
"Aidan?" Layla said in a daze. "What's he doing here?"
Maya another glance, this time looking exhausted. "Aidan was never just an ally. He has been liaising with Kamal from the very beginning. He is more involved than you think, Layla. He is one of the architects of Kamal's empire. If you want to take Kamal down, you have to deal with Aidan first."
Every single source of support for her has dipped out. Aidan was on her side and was a man she thought she could put her faith in. Now, as the pieces lay out in front of her, it was clear everything was a part of Kamal's scheme.
Yet the path was far more dangerous than she had ever envisioned. But she's not in retreat mode. She's gotten this far. And with his information from Maya, she was set to bring down Aidan along with the Empire of Justice, as the result had no limitations.
