She had never, ever seen him that sad. Not even on the day her mother died. His eyes were tired and dark. The wrinkles on his face had become so much worse. He looked so weak and exhausted.
She couldn't help but wonder how she hadn't noticed them before. They weren't hiding. They were more than obvious. She's been in the industry so long to know when smiles and gestures were faked and forced, but she hadn't noticed any fake smiles or gestures from him in ages.
She couldn't help but curse herself in her mind for being so insensitive. Maybe Vivian was right. Maybe she's so self absorbed that she always sees herself as the victim, not bothering to care about what other people think or feel.
'How could I?' She thought.
Looking up at her father, she could see the vulnerability written all over him. She couldn't do this to him. She couldn't let all of his hard work be reaped by someone who had absolutely no idea how hard they worked to get to where they are.
