Sylas entered, and the sight before him crushed his heart. Kai was sitting on the edge of the bed, trying to massage his left calf, which looked swollen and red. The young man's face was pale, cold sweat dampening his temples, yet he didn't let out a single sound of complaint.
Without a word, Sylas approached him. Before Kai could stand to offer a bow, Sylas had already stopped him, and with a gentle yet firm movement, he lifted Kai's light body into his arms.
"Master… I-I can walk…" Kai murmured.
"Sshh," whispered Sylas, not with a commanding tone but with protectiveness.
Sylas laid Kai on the bed and arranged pillows behind his back so he could sit comfortably. The young king's hand moved to retrieve the liniment oil from his pocket before he sat on the edge of the mattress. Carefully, he began to massage Kai's troubled left leg.
