Chapter 25 - Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Qin Jinnan actually brought me to a private hospital.

Perhaps he had cleared the place in advance.

The entire floor was eerily empty—no patients, only a quiet group of doctors standing by as if expecting royalty.

When he arranged a full body check-up for me, the realization finally settled in:

I had been away from him for a long time.

Long enough that I no longer saw the original group of bodyguards—the ones who had once thrown me into a dark corner without hesitation.

The tests took a while.

By the time I stepped out, night had already fallen.

Qin Jinnan was still there, waiting patiently outside the door.

He wore a fitted black shirt, his coat folded neatly over one arm, standing still like a sculpture in the sterile hallway.

When the doctor approached us with the results, Qin Jinnan didn't ask about my overall condition.

He simply lowered his gaze, gently rolled up my sleeve, and exposed my arm.

"Can these scars be removed?" he asked.

I looked down.

My skin was marked with overlapping traces—some old, some recent.

The doctor, wearing latex gloves, gently examined them.

He pointed at a few of the newer wounds and said, "These can be treated."

Then, hesitating as Qin Jinnan's gaze darkened, he glanced at the older scars.

"But the older ones…" The doctor's voice trailed off as the air around us turned colder.

Under Qin Jinnan's increasingly sharp stare, he cleared his throat and mumbled, "They'll require further evaluation. We may need to... explore a few specialized options."
